We ended up meeting two of the instructors, Scott and Belinda, part of a class of just eight or so people.

Over the past decade, I've graciously bled pools of sweat in gyms all over this metro, from CrossFit barns to bootcamp-style conditioning, most recently completing about 18 months at Orangetheory, where I sustained several minor and debilitating injuries. I gave it my all, spent a pretty penny on physical therapy, and finally decided to ditch the treadmill for spin classes. But Spenga's much more than a spin scene. You do 20 minutes on a bike, 20 more on the floor (free weights, kettlebell, TRX, BOSU), and 20 minutes of yoga. Originally, I definitely had reservations, but now that I'm about two months in, I can emphatically state the following: * I burn 700-900 calories per class * The yoga is super good for me * The music's pretty good (better than OTF) * It's more affordable than OTF * The instructors are polished and personable * The facility is spacious and clean * I'm injury free From a community standpoint, this place is more of a drop-in-get-it-done-and-leave kinda situation, which is great with me, but if you're more motivated by a gym full of besties, look elsewhere. I'll note they could get better at correcting form, and I would appreciate more class options, but I've never lost a penny from a late cancellation (there's no need to reserve ahead of time) and I could be wrong, but I think I'm actually seeing the results of these workouts. My wife warned me not to pen this review; she wants to keep the place to herself. Sorry, Laura, now everybody knows.

They didn't even ask if I had experience with spin because I have years of experience in spin bikes and was looking forward to a class to take advantage of after having a newborn at home. Unfortunately, I likely won't be able to come back to try this place for months to come. Had I liked my session tonight, I had planned on working out a schedule with my caregiver and partner so I could workout here a few times a week and purchasing a monthly package. I guess I won't be doing that now. I had actually signed up for here before they opened that's how excited I was for this place but then I was pregnant and put on restriction. I guess it wasn't meant to be. They probably don't care about my money anyway.

After moving here, my husband and I were set on finding a good gym for our lifting and after trying half a dozen we tried out Designer Bodies and knew it was perfect for what we needed. It's not as large as some gyms around here but the equipment is some of the best I've seen and the owners are always around. There are a few things that could improve, but hopefully as the membership grows some of those things will happen naturally. I would love if they were able to move all the cardio and yoga mat stuff into a separate back room, it would give more privacy to them and more space for lifting equipment (another squat rack!). Another thing would be if the music changed. Currently, it's a little on the mellow side and I prefer a gym with upbeat music playing over the grunts of everyone working out. I also would love if they had longer hours as my job prevents me from getting in before they close on some nights. But again, these are all small things that are not going to prevent you from having a killer workout. I love the vibe here. Some people, like myself, like to get in and get out, and you can do that here. You can also hang out, like others do, and everyone seems to be pretty friendly so that's cool too.

No matter the reason, it was very disturbing to see the receptionist talk about the members as if he was in high school and bragging about the girls he had sex with. I don't recommend any person I know to ever go there unless being talked about like a piece of meat is your cup of tea. Then by all means there's a teenage minded douche that wears booty shorts at the same time as a bandana that I'm sure will be there to disrespect you when your not looking. I tried returning when that Jersey Shore wanna be wasn't there(because my company had got a Hotel fairly close to that location)unfortunately it came as no surprise that he had nowhere else to be. As bad luck would have it I showed up before the sun is up, and even after our morning meeting. But everytime the booty short wearing womanizer was there... All in all its unsettling to hear and disturbing to see. Save your money and try a respectable gym.
