I have so many great things to say about this place. The first time I came, there was a small issue…read morethat was taken care of right away. My insurance covers me attending yoga through a program and this is my choice of studios. I've been doing yoga for over 15 years and this studio has all of the things I look for in a place to practice. The first class is free and they offer both hot, warm, and room temperature yoga. I've tried all of the above types of classes with a lot of different instructors. My favorite is Teresa because of her style, she lets you play in class practicing arm balances at a variety of levels. Her yin yoga class is to die for, I feel that my week is set once I've attending this longer well guided class. I have also attended workshops here and enjoyed each one I have gone to. They do have showers which is a huge plus! Towels, yoga mats, weights, straps, blocks, are all in the room and easy to access. Visit the studio and if you've never gone, I recommend a room-temp or yin class .

As a general rule, I like to sweat. I'm of the midwestern German/Jewish/British bloodline so my veins are pretty heated, thus when I get moving, I'm a faucet, it's disgusting, honestly. If you're anywhere near my proximity when I'm dripping, stay away. I'm like a garden hose under thunderous pressure, hurling my droplets upon unsuspecting passers by. I should also preface this with the admission that I enjoyed an introduction to Pilates from a friend/associate/trainer who offered to show me the ropes, springs and stands of the art free of charge. I didn't take a class and although the personal training session wasn't leveraged on an agreement to review the venue, I can't claim this was a genuine appointment with the business. Like many of you, I was genuinely curious about Pilates. Years of television commercials offered virtually no clue into the underworld of this fascinating practice, and once I was there, in a facility equipped with the very best, I totally got it. Pilates is the yin in my aging, overburdened yang. I'm about to turn 40, about to hit that Over the Hill mark, and that means I hurt, mysteriously, in places that never hurt before. As we age, we realize that stretching and activating those muscle groups that we ignored for 40 years suddenly matters. Momentum Studio is an excessively clean, dynamic facility decked out with machines that are built to bend you sideways, upwards and out. The contraptions in this place, man, they're genius inventions of wood and coil, pulley and spoke, the kind of thing your nutty neighbor developed in his garage, and they work wonders. One hour of work in here will realign your spine and reset your clock to Zen. Next visit, I'm investigating Barre. Can't wait.

I've been looking for a studio or some place to go that is more supportive than where I've been taking physical therapy (which I believe is actually making my joint injury worse as they have a specific goal in mind and push, push, push to get to it in the prescribed amount of appointments), and I've found it! I have no fear that the work I do here will be comprehensive, challenging, but appropriate for me and safe. I'm looking forward to starting Pilates equipment and Barre classes!!

Over the past decade, I've graciously bled pools of sweat in gyms all over this metro, from CrossFit barns to bootcamp-style conditioning, most recently completing about 18 months at Orangetheory, where I sustained several minor and debilitating injuries. I gave it my all, spent a pretty penny on physical therapy, and finally decided to ditch the treadmill for spin classes. But Spenga's much more than a spin scene. You do 20 minutes on a bike, 20 more on the floor (free weights, kettlebell, TRX, BOSU), and 20 minutes of yoga. Originally, I definitely had reservations, but now that I'm about two months in, I can emphatically state the following: * I burn 700-900 calories per class * The yoga is super good for me * The music's pretty good (better than OTF) * It's more affordable than OTF * The instructors are polished and personable * The facility is spacious and clean * I'm injury free From a community standpoint, this place is more of a drop-in-get-it-done-and-leave kinda situation, which is great with me, but if you're more motivated by a gym full of besties, look elsewhere. I'll note they could get better at correcting form, and I would appreciate more class options, but I've never lost a penny from a late cancellation (there's no need to reserve ahead of time) and I could be wrong, but I think I'm actually seeing the results of these workouts. What I love about Ninja Core, is the access the kids have to all of the equipment in the gym, and how passionate the coaches are about keeping the kids challenged. My kids participate in the Competitive classes, and attend several of the other classes throughout the week, including parkour, and they absolutely love it. It's helping them develop the skills, attitude and team building for competitions at a national level, while also helping them build strength, agility, coordination, and overcoming their fears and boundaries. The staff is exceptional, I couldn't have asked for a better mentor/leader/coach, and I look forward to making this our permanent ninja family for years to come!

And our coach (I'm sorry I missed her name but she had the faded rainbow hair with one side cut short) was knowledgeable and attentive, and really encouraged us through the workout! We also brought our two daughters, and when the music got a little explicit, she switched the songs. She didn't have to, as the words were fast enough and our girls were entertained and distracted by the pups sitting off to the side that they didn't notice, but she did and she took the initiative, and I was VERY appreciative. It was one of those little things that went above and beyond and I was grateful. We loved it and will for sure come in again next summer on our 2020 road trip to Missouri! (This year it's Maryland).

I've been a member of Burque's active community for a few years (let's get real- gym rat, exercise junkie, person on the Bosque that says on your left waaay louder than deemed necessary). I started hearing more and more about Crossfit and decided to investigate the legit way- YouTube. I was blown away watching these terrifying feats of strength/endurance and immediately thought not my scene. Saying you can't do something is lame- and certainly not how Mr. Rogers raised me to think. I woke up one morning and decided to take the plunge in the world of badassery (yeah that's a word now) I rolled up to Sandia Crossfit thinking "Will I survive? I'm going to be the only person without knee socks....I cant do a pull up if a kittens life depended on it" One free intro class later I was hooked. (Saturday 11-12 free intro hour) Sandia Crossfit is the only gym I've seen that takes "Anyone can crossfit" to heart. The workouts are tailored to your own capabilities, you will be able to participate no matter your fitness background/limitations. The instructors are knowledgable and genuinely want to help you get the most out of the class- quickly offering adjustments, modifications ( or in my case- pushing me to the level I want to be). Classes are an hour comprising of warmup workout, technique work, and lastly a WOD that will give you that endorphin rush you've been jonesing for. They also offer functional yoga as well as mobility (Mobility is taught by a physical therapist at no extra cost- seriously) Paleo pot lucks, snow shoe outings, swim wods? I can't say enough about my love for this place, the people that run it, or the sport of Crossfit.
