Have gone on yet another fabulous trip with gadventures. This time to Costa Rica. I can't recommend them enough. Tip: look for sales online where you can save from 15-30% off

Overall a pretty disappointing experience and would never travel with G Adventures again. I took the Siem Reap to Vietnam river cruise in Dec 2019. Let's start with the good. Food was good on several nights, although the breakfast was limited to the same things most days. Phany is a server who made it a point to address us by our name each day and was always smiling and helpful. She was sweet. The other cruisers were great. In fact that was the best part mingling with the other travelers. Many characters. Everyone was either from America, UK, or Australia. Two swiss. That about sums up the good, now with the bad: The Tour: The tour is not well designed. You are treated as a walking wallet from the first hour you meet the CEO, Sey, who calls himself Bamboo. We rarely docked and instead would drop anchor into the middle of the river which then required a small boat to come pick us up. Therefore, we were beholden to the tour's schedule. We would take some historical transportation like an ox cart, rickshaw or tuk tuk out to a 1 or two "sights" where the mission was to get us to buy trinkets and overpriced tourist garbage. The silver maker, the clay pot maker, the snake wine store, the treat store, almost every single "adventure" was solely made to take you somewhere to spend money on overpriced tourist trap items. There were a couple of Chinese pagodas thrown in. With the exception of a single Vietnamese local market, there was never any time to walk through the small towns we were taken to because after leaving the trinket shop, we would immediately board the small boat to take us back to the mothership. It's like they wanted to control exactly where you spent your money, only on their kick-back places and nowhere else. I wanted to experience at least an hour of each town we went to: go to a local restaurant, cafe, or just walk around and see these small villages, but that was not an option. It was basically pointless to even go to these small town because we really couldn't experience them much. Many of the activities were just pretty pointless and didn't have much to do with the culture of the country. In Vietnam we went to this "bird sanctuary" where there were no birds and took rowboats. Another day in Vietnam we were taken to a "tourist island" where we rode in a row boat conveyor belt again where the sole mission is to pack as many tourists down this disgusting small channel. What was the point of this island? There was no culture, and nothing interesting on it. It was a specially designed tourist trap designed to bring in as many tourists as possible to force them to buy stuff. The was only one option for an overpriced restaurant (you either ate there, or you didn't eat lunch that day!). During the first hour on the 6 hour bus ride to the cruise ship (I heard later on they don't even bother with the close dock anymore) he passed out a sheet with some information. Half the information was about how "Asia is a tipping culture and here are the suggested tipping amounts to give me and the crew." Nowhere in Asia has tipping culture, in fact. Then he proceeded to talk about how he wanted everyone to give $20 to put into a "tipping kitty" that he would feel out to bellboys, tuk tuk drivers, etc. Well that kind of defeats the purpose of what a tip is for and it's very impersonal and tacky. If you really want to do it that way, just add $20 to the cruise fee and take it out of there. On the last dinner during his good bye speech, Sey made a Faux Pax and while talking about placing money for the crew in the tipping box on the center table said that everyone on the cruise was rich. This isn't a Viking River cruise or Abercrombie & Kent cruise there Sey. The CEO: Within the first hour of the 6 hour bus ride, Sey promptly told us about all these sad stories of his about how his wife had an abortion and then two miscarriages, how his teeth were rotting, how he doesn't make enough money now that he has a child. I've heard these sob stories before from other tourist operators and I believe they are trying the strategy of pulling on the heartstrings to pump up the tips. Great, let's start the tour with a downer! The CEO was rarely seen when not leading us to a tourist trap. I saw him a couple of times hanging out alone with his laptop in the dining room with the lights off. Once when I couldn't find him after an exhaustive search of the ship, I had to have the bartender call him to the deck because I wanted to clarify a question. He certainly wasn't working for those tips he graciously informed us he expected. He could have hung out at the bar or at a table on the sundeck and made himself available and been part of the "family" he kept referring us to as. Oh by the way, every time he refers to us as family, my eyes rolled. Does that patronizing actually work? Many times we would cruise for 2 hours and then just drop anchor somewhere in the river for the remainder of the night. [ran out of room ...]

My travel agent sends me an email on February 18, 2020 with my itinerary and telling me to check in and get my flight pass 24 hours before my flight time. She doesn't tell me where I have to go to do this, no link in the email or anything. No instructions. I'm not an experienced traveler. I went to Flight Centre because of this and I have received professional service from them once in the past. Like I said this vacation amounts to a significant chunk of my net worth and I was treated with disregard. I emailed her back asking where I go to get the flight pass and to check in for the flight, she emails me back with a link. Just the link. No salutation. No instructions for me on how to get my flight pass. No nothing. I am disappointed and will not be using Flight Centre as a travel agent anym

The travel agents did absolutely nothing. My flight home was also cancelled and I received no hotel voucher. I slept on a floor and had to spend an extra 500$ to get to my destination. I am still waiting for a refund on my first flight. I have called the agency 5 times. I even had to call the hotel I was staying at to tell them that I would not be coming in the first night due to my flight cancellation. Do not book with this agency. They have the worst customer service and just want your money.
