The sauce changes accordingly. Even the marinara for the ravioli pizza tasted a little more hearty than the classic pepperoni sauce. The sauce and crust alone for the mac n cheese pizza was buttery and rich. ALL THIS FOR $5??(plus 50 cents). Everyone on staff was kind/welcoming and quick getting all of the orders. Seating was plentiful and eating amongst locals, you will feel the chill vibes emanate. Nobody was loud or boisterous, just enjoying their slice and soda. Do yourself a favor and visit this feed mill with many other delights (ice cream, beer, board games, coffee) to explore! Only note to ownership: writing out the different styles on the pizza partition glass could help people when selecting and save staff from being asked 'which one is that?' all day.

It took quite a while before anyone took my order. Once I ordered, the wait for the food was longer than expected, and the clam chowder didn't arrive until the rest of the meal came out, defeating the purpose of having soup as a starter. The fish was just okay, but the fries were cold. To make matters worse, I was given an empty ketchup bottle. I asked for another ketchup and a refill on my drink, but neither ever arrived. I sat there waiting, and eventually gave up and just asked for the check. What bothered me most was the complete lack of follow-up. There was no acknowledgment that my drink and ketchup were forgotten, even though it was obvious I hadn't eaten the cold fries. No apology. No "I'll be right back." Not even a simple "Thanks for coming in." At nearly $29 for a fish fry, cold fries, and a bowl of soup, I expected a much better experience. Great service can make up for an average meal, but poor service only highlights the shortcomings. Sadly, it's time to start looking for a new Friday night fish fry spot.

There were only diners at two other tables. While eating we did see a handful of other patrons come in and get their food to go. This is counter service although one of the servers did check on us while we were eating and helped clear out plates. I don't know if that is typical. I suspected it was more because they were not busy at all. They were friendly and offered suggestions on the various dishes. The space including the restrooms was clean. There was a tiny stage that looked like it could accommodate a musician. We sat at a long table which might have been tight if the table behind us was populated. What really stood out, was the food. Particularly the brisket. Amongst our group we had the carved brisket platter, the pulled pork platter, the pulled pork sandwich combo, cornbread, coleslaw, mac n' cheese, and wagon rolls. Wagon rolls are eggrolls stuffed with brisket and cheddar. I loved these and would definitely get them again. Portions were decent; brisket was eight ounces. The pork was tender, juicy, and delicious. The brisket was the star and several of us thought it was the best brisket we had ever had. The coleslaw was broccoli based, with a light mayo. Mine did taste like it had just come out of the freezer and was a bit icy, but I really enjoyed the flavor. The cornbread was delicious and our friends enjoyed the mac n' cheese. I'm still concerned that this place might not make it as it just does not seem busy on Friday nights, but I hope it does. I thought it was tasty and worth visiting again.

The food was delivered 21 minutes away, arriving exactly at the promised time, 100% complete, with some trays still too hot to touch. I included bread & supplies with the order, and the delivery included plenty of serving spoons & tongs, utensils, plates, & napkins. Brisket and sauce were fantastic. The chicken needs work--dry and low flavor. The hamburger buns were very bready and big, too big for many. The sides were fun and interesting new flavors. The slaw was tasty-tangy but very white--challenging those who like their vegetables green. Sorry folks. The beans were super popular. I would get them again, all of those sides. But the chicken...you might go in and taste-test it first. On the front end, it was so easy to arrange for this catering through the website and email. The communication was prompt and accurate. I put a little brisket burnt ends in when I make them. That would have improved these to top notch. I usually shy away from barbecue joint mac and cheese but I ordered it here. Hey, I'm in Wisconsin. It's got to be at least ok. It was better than just ok. It had a generous amount of cheese and the symtickiness that good Mac and cheese must have. For my taste, it had too much garlic. I'm a big garlic fan. When I see a recipe that says "one clove of garlic," I figure it's a misprint and they meant "one head of garlic." Here, they used powdered garlic, and I feel like the amount they used covered up the natural sweetness of the cheese. The ambiance of the place was spot on. I am visiting Madison, from Oregon (Go Ducks!) Driving by the place it looks like they've got to have at least passible 'cue. Inside it was classic back woods barbecue chic. No, won't get that until you pass through the Pearly Gates. But it's about as good as your going to get anywhere else, unless you come over to my back yard on 4th of July.
