The Exchange is the perfect place to find new/used video games, movies, cds, toys, consoles and more! Everything is organized in sections by type of game or appropriate genre of music or type of movie. It may seem overwhelming at first, but it's almost like a library of all things cool. The staff is super helpful. When you want something, you'll need to ask them for help as everything is behind glass and locked so you don't steal- good call on their part. Prices are reasonable for the most part. Some things like vintage games can be a little pricey but it makes sense. I bought about 6 or 7 old video games from NES Super NES and Sega for $38. I think I did well. They now have a rewards program that's free to sign up for so take advantage of that. I love this place whether I'm in Pittsburgh or Chicago. Definitely will make a trip or two every time I'm here.

VHS, DVD and Blu-ray titles of all genres (no adult titles, but that's what the internet is for, right?). Since it's my favorite, the horror section is a "can't miss" every time I come here. It's a nostalgia trip for sure, but SO much more than that thanks to the amazingly kind, knowledgeable and friendly owner who has had the place for 34 years and counting. I originally stopped in because it was recommended by Pinwheel Records, and I'm really glad I did. The shop has an incredible selection and the staff was extremely knowledgeable. Drew especially was fantastic to talk with. I asked about local Chicago music and he immediately had great recommendations and insight into the scene. One of the coolest things about the shop is that 606 has its own label, and I was able to pick up a limited release of Balance: A Compilation Without Boundaries -- featuring artists with parallels to the city of Chicago, experimenting sonically & balanced with music.  You can tell this place genuinely cares about music discovery and supporting artists. Definitely worth a stop if you're digging around Chicago for records beyond the usual mainstream finds. I was traveling and like Pinwheel, 606 was also able to ship my purchases home for me. Shops like this proved to me the Chicago music scene is extremely vibrant!

On the right side are the more popular records that range from $20+ (also have plastic covers) and the CD selection. The guy that owns the store is very friendly. He was telling me that he has been at the location for about 8-9 years. What's really nice is that he looks at each record and cleaned them on this cool machine. Made the records look like new! I finally went here a few weekends ago, after wanting for ages to visit this store. Honestly this…read morestore was SO GREAT to browse, that I wish I had visited here sooner. And the prices are really great, as well. The owner(I forget his name) was really awesome to talk to, and explained a lot about the store to me. Including the record/band/artist reference book in the front, where those artist/band and album name books used to be periodically mailed out to his record store and other stores, by a certain company. Though from what he told me, that company stopped producing those reference books by the early 2000s, sadly to say. The unfortunate thing is that too many other Chicago record stores seem a little overpriced IMO for their used records, such as for example Rattleback Records in Andersonville(Chicago) and Rediscover Records(Elgin). I'm glad this store wasn't like that for being overpriced for used records, and actually OTOH was pretty affordable. Their prices for used CDs, DVDs, and tapes was decent, as well. Yes no doubt for some people this store may be slightly out of the way. But I'd say for darn sure if you do like browsing in a record store, you should visit here at least once in your life! I do like how the inside of this store still felt pretty old school in its inside look, as well. And probably little changed, from when(I think) it first opened in the 1970s.
