It seems as though for some collectibles they just go on eBay and see what it sells for in order to price the items, which is unfortunate because some items are priced WAY above what they should be. Considering that there aren't a lot of brick and mortar shops around here for collectibles, and retro games, you're left with either scouring the interwebs for what you're looking for, or pay the Disc Replay price. All in all, maybe retro 90's merch trends will die down so that the prices will go down, but not likely any time soon.

On the right side are the more popular records that range from $20+ (also have plastic covers) and the CD selection. The guy that owns the store is very friendly. He was telling me that he has been at the location for about 8-9 years. What's really nice is that he looks at each record and cleaned them on this cool machine. Made the records look like new! The store is fairly large and the music is well organized. They do stick of few used pieces of all genres of music but "new" wax is definitely their specialty. Store is located right in front of the Wabash lights which is an art installation that uses L.E.D lights to create visual art on the L tracks. Reckless is a great store to check out when you are in downtown Chicago. It's just a few blocks of Michigan ave, and not far from the Theater District of Millennium park. Enjoy!!

We finished eating and came back at 12:30... the store was still closed. Of course, when we went back to the car and were driving off and happened to pass the store only a minute later, THEN we see an employee coming out of the now unlocked door to set something up out front. We can only assume they had to have seen us trying the door moments before and just didn't care. It's not a difficult thing to open your doors when you say you're going to be open. It is actually one of the critical elements when running a business. We even gave them an extra 30 minutes so we weren't busting the doors down. It's not like opening at noon on a Sunday is the crack of dawn. It can't possibly be that difficult.

The trade in value was fair and I was happy with it. It's also really neat they were able to get limited signed pressings of Charli's new album, it was the only record store i saw around town who had them. I ended up leaving with BRAT and a copy of the Strokes "Is this it". The prices are pretty on par with other record stores too. Id definitely shop again here!

After my husband got a record player he became a fan of going to at least 1 record store when on road trips, even if the road trips are just day trips. I'm glad his enjoyment of vinyls helped us find Reckless Records because this store is great. We did buy a vinyl while at Reckless Records and I considered buying a t-shirt, but my husband was disappointed because he is a 3-4xl and they go up to a unisex 2xl. I know we tend to come to this part of town when we travel to Chicago so next time I will most likely give into my impulse to buy every tee-shirt to ever exist in the universe that has a cute design and is in a color I like. If you're looking for a good record store with a solid customer service reputation, large selection of items and a clean store, Reckless Records is definitely worth your time.
