Selection of used DVD's is amazing. They have a small selection of vinyl records. Employees and point of sale is all the way in the back of the store. If you need help you must go to the back of the store to get help. Employees are busy with buy back and preparing merchandise to put on shelf. Recently I had discovered I was holding onto quite rare games due to personal events. i had spoken to a worker who was incredibly kind understanding and very patient with both my questions, concerns and asking prices. though I wont disclose the amount, He had given some options and answers on how I can sell these video games, either through them, their online store or even other websites he had recommended. The variety is quite interesting in their store and Were very interested in helping me out. Although i rate this place 5 stars I just think the place has quite the malodour problem from time to time. though that's not really a problem considering how little time i'd even spend in the first place due to the amazing customer service! this is an amazing store for media and entertainment, not only video games. This Disc Replay is something special. They certainly have a much better video game selection than even the vast majority of dedicated video game stores in the Chicagoland and northwest Indiana area. Their prices are very fair too, especially if you take advantage of their daily special. It's also great for any special interests. They have a large movie selection like any disc replay but they tend to have a healthy section for every kind of niche genre. They also have an awesome selection of collectibles. Having reviewed a few other Disc Replay locations in the past, I made my way into the Indiana some time back and had the opportunity to stop by the Disc Replay in Highland Indiana. Without breaking down how all Disc Replay stores function I'll just go over the basics. Disc Replay is a store that buys and sells used DVDs, Blu-Ray Discs, video games, and compact discs. This particular Disc Replay has far more video game product than any of the others I've seen. Particularly retro stuff, NES, Genesis, Super Nintendo and N64. And there's mostly reasonable pricing on a lot of it. This disc replay is also a little different than most in the sense that I saw Manga, comics, toys and other oddities I don't usually see at Disc Replays. I looked through the movie section and while I didn't find anything in particular I wanted, I felt it was average. The music selection here is a little less than a lot of the other Disc Replays. Overall, the size of the video game selection here makes this one of the better Disc Replays. I am going to give this place four stars. If you're in the area it's definitely worth stopping by. read more

Let's not mince words: it's a pawn shop. But it's a very well maintained and (mostly) organized pawn shop with a friendly and mostly knowledgeable staff. Once in a while, you can find that rare out-of-print DVD or that Japanese Sega Saturn game to complete your collection, sometimes with the original box and packaging. They've also started accepting action figures and collectibles, so if you need a Headstrong figure to complete your Predaking or a Bandai Godzilla to grace your desk at work, coming here to browse the cases is a great alternative to eBay. You never know what you may find on any given day. read more

First of all, don't expect a courteous staff when you go. They started off nicely enough, but as I've become a regular they seem to have gotten meaner and meaner, with an incident so unpleasant my brother vowed never to return to this Disc Replay Suck to be him since, despite the bad service, the deals are amazing; a DVD can be had for as low as .99 cents in the bargain bin to about $15 for a newly-released Blu-Ray, with the average being the still-incredible $3.33. Videogames are a bit more than a comparable store like, say, Gamestop, but their variety is superior and more money is given on trade-ins on videogames, making up for the price jump on them. Books are also fairly affordable, though given how many books they have in stock I'm suprised prices were as high as they were. Just be ready to do a little digging, as the staff will scoff if you ask if there is a specific item in stock. Still, for the prices it is all worth it and I find myself in there almost every weekend looking for one movie or another. read more

When it comes to resale stores, such as this one, and selling video games they typically do one of two things. 1) They know people will buy old stuff so they price gouge EVERYTHING. 2) They know what is rare, but not how much it is worth so they ask WAY too much for it. This place seems to find a happy third thing, they have the rare stuff that is pricey but still affordable (example: Persona 2 on Playstation for $45 that I have seen for $85 elsewhere), they have slightly rare stuff at reasonable prices, and everything else is greatly priced. I found many great games that were very well priced. I picked up a copy of Phantasy Star IV for the Sega Genesis for $12.99 (I found this at People Play Games in Chicago for $40). I could have easily spent all my money there on so many games in boxes, players guides, and much much more. Let's talk about the staff. I went here about 2 years ago and I found the staff acting like they are annoyed that I am even there. I have been to other discreplays with the same type of staff. I went here today and I was greeted with friendly helpful staff. A+ on the staff at this location of DiscReplay. I have found the place I will go to buy my retro games from now on. =D read more

This is my favorite Disc Replay out of the 3 that I have been to near my area. They have a Huge selection of just about everything but are known for their retro stock. I'm a regular at this location visiting twice a week too see what new NES games arrived as I am an avid collector. The staff already knows me when I walk in the door with my Nintendo checklist and are always eager to help me and chat. I've only met 1 miserable person who no longer works there and that had to be at least 3 years ago. Other than that the store was remodeled a few months back and it looks amazing and smells great when you walk in!! Prices are still always good and never more expensive than the online scalpers prices. read more

Disc Replay is heaven for any movie buff that wants to get lots of movies for cheap. It's my go to place! They always have the coolest stuff. I really like the selection of music, movies, and misc. things here... But the staff stinks!! Which means I won't be shopping there any more. On each trip, I spend $50-100. I had bought a couple of things, and the guy behind the counter hardly acknowledged I was at the register. Then as I'm leaving, I see another item I wanted. I went back to the register, and he SIGHED AND ROLLED HIS EYES. I don't need to shop at a place, which by the way, probably won't be around in a few more years because everything is going DIGITAL, where the staff is going to treat me like I'm a nuisance. The Service is HORRIBLE at this disc replay. Last time I was there it took over an hour to get a quote on a few games and a couple action figures. Most of the time I go there they are sitting around eating and talking/goofing around with each other instead of helping the customers out. And when they finally do get around to helping you out they have a very smug attitude like they can care less about your business. Never had any of these problems at the Merrillville location, I travel the extra distance to that one instead now for trade ins or just wait for a Gamestop promotion. read more

everytime i go into this location i feel uncomfortable. like i'm not supposed to be in there. the staff seems like they cannot be bothered. called today asking if they take vinyl records or collectable books - the answer i recieved was a "no" on both questions, along with "we won't give you what you want". the employees obviously recognize that they will rip you off for whatever you sell to them, and they seem like they don't want to be bothered with anything - once again. i've sometimes asked about certain artists and whatnot, and they just tell me they don't get it without searching. all the other locations i've been to have provided a much more pleasurable experience. i definitely cannot say the same for highland. read more

the prices are fair, but their stickers absolutely ruin any potential collector value in their items......after an hour of trying with a magic eraser to get rid of the pricing stickers, i put the vintage games i had bought on craigslist hoping to break even and find the items through different mediums. This disc replay is hit or miss especially when it comes to trading in your games for cash or store credit. Sometimes you get a GREAT deal for your games for how much they're worth and sometimes they offer you a dollar for a 80 dollar complete used collector's edition game. I believe it all comes down to what they currently have in the store. If they don't have what you're selling then chances are you'll get a great deal for your used video games. The playstation 2 selection and retro game selection is pretty good but the good systems go fast! I've seen super nintendo's and n64's go the day they were put on the shelves. I've bought an N64 and some games from here before which work great and they offer a great return policy. The CD selection is very mediocre. The store could definitely use a little work as far as organization goes. The disc replay in Merrillville is organized a lot better and is more up-to-date on their pricing. For instance: I've seen an Assassin's Creed Black Flag at Disc Replay in Highland go for $40 but for $20 at the one in Merrillville (you get the picture). Some of the employees are real jerks and some are real nice, it's hit or miss. Sometimes you get the impression of a "too good for you" attitude because apparently they think they know everything. Overall though, a pretty good store for finding cheap used games and movies. read more
