I love axe throwing. I was really glad to see an axe throwing spot nearby! I enjoyed the virtual screen with different game options, though it was hard to read. I think there are some improvements to be done to the place- the boards were a bit moldy and it was very dark with the lights off. It was not my favorite spot, from the game itself to the food and drink options. I wouldn't tell you not to go, but I wouldn't recommend it. read more

We had a blast at FXBG Axes! Came with a group of 10 on a weekend and were pleasantly surprised it wasn't crowded. We had a reservation but there was plenty of space. We easily got two lanes (they allow 5 people per lane), and the setup worked perfectly for a group our size. What really stood out was the variety of games--way more than just standard bullseye throws. We played everything from Tic Tac Toe to Zombie Hunter and even Buck Hunter. Tons of fun and definitely keeps things from getting repetitive. The staff were friendly and helpful--they give you a quick rundown on how to throw, then let your group take the lead. It's a laid-back vibe, which we liked, but if you're looking for more hands-on coaching or lessons, you'll need to flag them down again. Food options are limited--basically pizza, chips, and chicken nuggets--but that's not really the focus here. What they do have is a solid beer selection, reasonably priced at $4-$6 a can, which is a nice bonus. Only downside: it was pretty warm inside. This was a truly fun experience, and easy from start to finish. FXBG Axes was easy to put a reservation in for, easy to find as close to Fredericksburg proper as it is, the drinks are very reasonably priced, the staff is absolutely lovely, and the space is so open for whatever your party size may be. My only qualm was the AC was not fully on (maybe maintenance) which was a shame for such a hot day. Highly highly recommend you come and bring your friends! read more

We came with a party of 7 to ax throw. The girl who showed us our lane did a very quick how to and left. It was a bit disappointing as most of us had not done it before. She did not explain the electronic games so we had to figure them out ourselves. We had fun but were disappointed in the customer service. I am not sure we will be back. read more

I cannot stress enough how worth it this was. This was a super fun time for a bachelorette party. It was also an amazing stress reliever. The staff were helpful and gave us tips on how to hit the target, but unless we had questions after they pretty much just let us do our own thing. I wish I could make this a once a week therapy session honestly. read more

This was a fun night out! My job decided to do a team building outing here for the winter season. Its not super pricey, and on top of that, they had a groupon, whoop! I was a little sketched it arriving to this place because it's on a tiny side street in Chatham with no houses... a warehouse with a bunch of axe throwing, I felt like it was a horror movie set up! Spoiler: It wasn't, we all survived. I took one star away for two reasons. First, they provide absolutely no refreshments. A nice cup of cocoa, a glass of water, nothing. You can, however, bring your own refreshments. Im not sure how I felt about people bringing their own alcohol and proceeding to wield and chuck axes! Second reason for taking away a star is because they explain and do a quick demo on how to throw the axes, but for the unathletic, non outdoorsy person, like myself, I could have used more hands on demonstration. There are different sized axes, I believe three different sizes. I stuck to the two smaller sizes because the big one was extremely intimidating. We had a wonderful time! Most of us were terrible at this but it was still a good time! I would go back, for sure, because now I feel experienced! read more

Tonight was my first visit to FXBG axes and it was a Saturday night, I showed up at 8 and they were doing a glow in the dark theme. It was super fun, we had a group of 7 and they placed us in two side by side lanes for an hour. It was more than enough time for everyone to get plenty of turns and it was nice to go out as a group and do something fun and physical instead of getting drinks at a bar or something.
