This is our first time playing softball and our first time playing this league. One of my pickleball friends reached out to me to join her softball team that consisted of other pickleball players. Most of us hadn't played softball before. I was learning new rules every game. Some of the rules are complicated for sure. We were on the Wednesday league. Most of the regular season games were washed out due to rain almost every Wednesday (unbelievable). They made up some of our games in the end with double headers. They have nice refs each game. Great sportsmanship from almost all the players. We knew we would be getting rings for winning the championship. However, after we won the finals, there was no ring and no email for two weeks. We spoke with players from the advanced league and they informed us that the league operators must have forgotten as they give out the rings immediately after the conclusion of the finals. I reached to their help desk team and sent them our finals report. We received a response with the instructions on how to get our rings and champs t shirt. Rings are awesome. Fits my middle finger and it's nice and heavy. Absolutely worth it. I wish they had given it to us on the finals day as we could have had a nice team picture. read more

I see and understand all of the negative reviews and I can't really speak to experience with sports requiring a ref (which is what these comments seem to be centered on). I've played pickleball for multiple seasons and have had overall positive experiences. Granted for this FXA is really only reserving the courts and making a schedule but it works. It's a great way to be active and have fun, but I was really disappointed in the turnover for the league. People will sign up, then not even show up for games. I tried signing my brother to join my team mid-season to get more player, but they still made him pay full price which was disappointing. Plus, I doubt they do thorough checks on their referees because a lot of them are immature and just overall bad at their job. I had one match where a referee was insulting me the whole game and nothing was done other than an email? Plus, we had another who made bad calls when a team was being overly aggressive and injuring our players (spoiler: they won their season that game). It was a fun experience that I made the most of, but not too sure I wanna do it again. read more

I have played several seasons with FXA Mens Lacrosse. Its always fun and great exercise. Lacrosse people are real relaxed and there for the great games. Yes, adults can grab their lacrosse stick and play under the lights. Its amazing. Covid lowered the numbers of players but I am hoping that the numbers will shoot up again to 10 teams. I bowl and golf, this league only makes sense if you live In Western Fairfax. I did winter season of bowling with FXA in their Tuesday Annandale league as a free agent. Enjoyed myself and signed up for spring bowling as a free agent again. They didn't get enough free agents and told me drive to Centerville or get a refund. Centerville is an hour from my house one way so that's not feasible with a full time job and family responsibilities. It's the same with golf, FXA only plays on courses in western Fairfax. Eastern Fairfax has plenty of golf courses and bowling alleys that I'm sure would be delighted to host FXA leagues. If FXA ever decides to grace eastern Fairfax with their presence, I'll give them another try. read more

I joined the free agent basketball team. My team was terrible, 20+ turnovers the first game, and we got blown out by an average team by 30 points. I had more points than my entire team combined. If you're a pretty good player think twice as it can be pretty risky with all these scrubs running around trying to dribble the ball. Ha... read more

Signed up for the summer kickball league, what a waste of money. A week before the league was supposed to start we were forced to change league location which was incredibly inconvenient for those who specifically signed up because the location was easy to get to. They delayed the start of our league with a days notice. Then they squeezed all of our games into about a five week period, putting multiple double headers on our schedule. And at the end of it all our league didn't even have play offs!!! Don't bother. read more

I just started my second softball season with FXA Sports. Fairly easy-to-use website for ream registration. The fields we play on are in great condition and have great lights for night games. The umpires are chill, fun, and do a good job overall. The FXA staff are quick to reply and helpful. Looking forward to the rest of this softball season! read more

play co-ed and there was a striker on the other team that in the very first play cleated my shin and nothing was called then a couple minutes later he proceeded to shoulder check one of my female teammates from behind again nothing was called then later on he kicked my teammate from behind and cleated his knee when he fell a foul was called but no card still, KEEP IN MIND the same player did all this then he kicked my same teammate from behind and it did get called as I go to get the ball he shoved me then punched me, all I did was push him off of me after he punched me and said what's wrong with you he did fall with my push then his teammate punched the back of my head and I fell over him then another guy punched the side of my face keep in mind I didn't throw a single punch them my teammate that was fouled tried getting them off of me and he as well was punched so 4 people on the other team threw punches and after all the commotion ended the ref gave me and my teammate red cards even though my teammate got fouled didn't throw any punches and tried breaking it up and me who just got jumped essentially and the other guys were the refs friend which explains why no cards were pulled up to now and he gave 2 of them red cards and 2 got away with nothing, and after review I was banned for a year and they were banned for 3 weeks because of "offensive language" I guess that's the perk to being friends with the ref. I have been playing with this league for almost 4 years and never got a violent red card and after this experience I don't think I'll be signing up for this league anymore and neither is my team. Applied as an umpire in the softball league as I've played in high school. Judy did my initial interview and we hit it off nicely, until she referred me to Andy Sirkins. I was having technical difficulties the day of the training, and he had sent an email saying to contact him and let him know if you were unable to make it. Called him, and he answers with the most dismissive and rude tone. hangs up the phone without me able to explain anything further. unbelievably rude and disrespectful, definitely shows his work ethic and how he treats both players and workers. Reported to Judy the incident and told her i was no longer considering the job, to which she attempted to keep offering changes so I would still work there. I continue refusing, as Andy's attitude was enough to ruin the company for me, and Judy responds lastly saying that she no longer wants to hire me as I was lying about the interaction. Highly unprofessional and complete retards. Avoid Judy and Andy at all costs. read more

I have been a part of FXA for over 7 years (Primarily flag football). Over the years this organization has provided an overall great experience for competitive adult sports. They continue to improve in many aspects of the league, by updating rules and considering input from participants. Obviously there are times that officials will make mistakes or a certain rule you may not agree with. During this past season, in the playoffs for Thursday night the officiating was exceptional. I played in two games back to back on the same field. Russ, Rudy and a third (wore a mask and couldn't tell who it was). They made calls on both sides, explained the reasoning behind each call respectfully to both teams. When there was a call that they had to make, they came together as officials, discussed in a huddle, and made their call. They were extremely consistent on both sides, which in my opinion is the biggest factor for officials. During one of the games, players started to argue/complain, the officials were able to diffuse and calm the situation and moved the game smoothly. In addition, during one of the games, a couple players started to get into a small altercation. The officials didn't overreact, calmed the situation, and made sure the games continued. Overall the officials did a great job in both games and made each game enjoyable to be a part of (even with a loss in the championship game). Looking forward to continue participating in this league. read more

LOL we didn't make it past playoff in the fall tournament and apparently, this makes us too good as a team? Doesn't help no one was helpful on the phone either. I registered to play for an adult soccer team (co-ed) as a free agent. They put me in the worst team (a player pool team), 4 girls with no substitute and 7 guys with 7 substitutes, and there was no management and no play time. When I called to their manager to solve the issue and find a solution after the first game. He said there is no option, and they do not change my team/program and no refund/no option. I told him I want to complain he said I can only send my complaint to him. It was my worst experience with customer service and the management. Stay away from this management and customer service. I signed up for a bowling league and I arrived on the first night of games and was informed by a worker at the bowling alley that our entire league had been cancelled. FXA Sports had not informed any of us that they cancelled our league! I've been trying to get someone to email or text me back from FXA Sports and no one is responding! I want a refund! I tried calling the number on their website and the message says due to covid they will not be answering their phone!? huh? This league has declined over the years and drastically. I have been playing in FXA for at least 4 years now and I am currently part of 3 different teams and I am ensuring this is the last season any of these teams participate in this league. from the unqualified refs to the power hungry leadership dictating everything ultimately completely ruining the culture and the appreciation for the sport all together. Putting people who have never participated in any of these sports to decide games and referee them is an absolute joke and recipe for disaster and all that the league cares about is the money they make. i've been playing in this league for 8 seasons now and its gotten worst and worst by the season. let me start by saying i am speaking strictly on basketball. the refs are terrible if you have a late game they are not giving you a fair shot at the game with the lack of calls. i played in a playoff game where a ref was late and we had to play a semifinals game with one ref! thats not fair at all for a playoff semi finals game!! the following season in the playoffs they rushed my players to get dressed or we risk forfeiting they were a few mins behind but not more than 10 mins but yet we had to playoff game with one ref. i was letting this slide but its worst this season......we get absolutely no warm up time. bt the time you sign in, the whsitle blows for the game to start no lie thats been my experience all 7 games this season to the point where i emailed them and they said they will fix it next season..... ummmm next season??? arent we the one who paid to have the league run?? and we get no warm up time?? ok. next is you cant talk to anyone on the phone, which can be a problem when you have technical issues some emails just cant solve. this is a current example my team is 6-1 and the playoffs are in a few hours and i been emailing the league 13 days before this post and a few days before the weekend about a issue i had with a free agent i signed that winded up playing for two teams i was unaware of and asked why is he having registration issues they kept giving the same invalid solution and today when i get my teammates credentials to log into the league account to see whats going on, thats where i found he played for another team and he couldn't play for ours til the league was over, well when the league was over and i sent that email they were so lazy they didnt even catch that, i did !! and thats when they told me that's an invalid move, well when the hell were you going to tell me that!! instead kept saying he needs to login to his fxa account and accept it there but he was getting rejected and you meant to tell me you couldnt see the conflict he was playing for two teams on your administrative side?? now im being told the day of the playoff game he isnt allowed to play. this league is such a joke!!! if you read all of this by now thank you and i dont need to lie this league is lazy and need to improve somethings. if you want to do a mens basketball league thats more organized look elsewhere fxa is not it. if you dont care and want to see for yourself cool but im saving folks time, money and frustration. fuck fxa!!!! read more

This is our second season playing flag football for FXA. I am surprised to read reviews that people think this league is organized. We have had several experiences suggesting otherwise. For instance, we have had one game this summer scheduled for 2 pm according to the email received, yet the website had it listed for 1 pm. Needless to say, the team showed up at 12:30 and had to wait in the 110 degree heat until the game finally started at 2:15. Not acceptable. Just last week we received an email indicating that we needed to have at least 20 people on our roster. We need 8 people to play in the game. Can someone please explain why on earth we would need 20 on our roster? These small things could be forgiven, but there is something that can not. Our team is terrible. We are a bunch of friends that for the most part have never played football. We joined the casual league to have a good time. Once the summer season started FXA did not have enough teams, so they combined the Saturday casual and competitive leagues. It's been extremely demoralizing for us as a team. It's one thing to lose every week, it's another to lose by 50 and not even have a chance. To add insult to injury, FXA never contacted us to ask if we were ok with the combination of the two leagues. AND, there is apparently a co-ed Sunday league that we could have joined instead. But, if FXA had allowed us that opportunity, the Saturday league would have been cancelled. So instead of doing the right thing, they screwed our team over to make a buck. We'll be taking our team elsewhere next season. I recommend you do the same. read more

FXA is pretty organized when it comes to field selection and getting teams set up, in general (sign-ups, rosters etc). There's a free agents list that is updated fairly regularly so you can reach out to individuals looking to fill in. Other than that, there's not much else to love about FXA. I'm in my second season of playing casual league FXA soccer (playing on two teams this season, one on Sunday mornings and the other on Wednesday nights). The Wednesday night league gets to play on turf (YAY) but the Sunday morning league gets the shaft- and gets assigned to play on a crap field at an elementary school. Unless you're playing in an elite or competitive league, you almost will never see turf fields on the weekends- that is, unless your team makes it to the playoffs. I played Sunday mornings last season too and I don't know what goes through the powers' that be's heads because they cancel so many games, it's insane. Take last Sunday for example- it was sunny, 68 degrees with absolutely no sign of rain, yet our match was cancelled. What really sucks is that although they take "every necessary step to reschedule matches", they really don't. You're simply out of luck if your match is cancelled. I think they forget the fact that people pay money to join this league so hopefully they remember that people actually DO want to get to play- wet grass, rain, whatever the condition may be-- we sign waivers in order to play so don't worry, FXA, we won't sue you if we get injuries due to those reasons. Another horrible aspect of FXA is that their overall FXA soccer site is so outdated. There is information up there from the early 2000s! Get with it, FXA! While I'm having a blast and a half playing soccer, there's no explanation as to why games get cancelled so often as they do. Not to mention the disparity in field assignments between different leagues (casual vs. elite/ competitive or weekend vs. weekday leagues)-- it would be awesome if we could get some sort of rotation maybe? Either way, FXA has some work to do. read more

This is my first season playing (pee wee league) flag football with Fairfax Athletics and I love it. Okay, maybe its a love / hate relationship, but I still love it nonetheless. The fields that we play on are fantastic and fake. No mud, no grass, nothing that could stain my pretty new cleats, or get me dirty. ::SWOON:: The refs are pretty fair. Obviously there will always be calls that you disagree with, but they watch out for the girls and keep the game moving. No lollygagging on the field. HUSTLE! The fields are a lot a bit out of the way- Springfield, Herndon, Reston.. bring change for the tolls! Why I'm playing in a winter league in 20 degree weather boggles my mind. C'mon spring! My only qualm is that even more than halfway into the season a lot of people still dont know that you can't tackle or check. Guys hit me all the time! They really need a good talking to by the ref's before each game about how to block. And that means NO CONTACT. There is some trash talking, but its all in good fun- everyone shakes hands after the game and has pretty good sportsmanship. Well except maybe for me. I hold grudges for those that don't play fair. I will see you on the field next season.. oh yes I will. :::shrug, wink::: Oh and super kudos for live IM on their website. FXA is a great way to meet new people, get out and break the monotony of treadmills and spinning bikes. I played in the summer '10 casual co-ed flag football league and am currently doing the fall co-ed casual soccer season. I've been really impressed with the organization overall. The refs are knowledgeable and fair and the vast majority of players are good sports, friendly and fun to play with/against. The FXA website could use an update but it works and it's got all the information you register, join a team or start your own team. If you're having a hard time finding a team, post a note on sportsvite.com - not knowing anyone in the league, that's how I managed to link up with both of my teams. The FXA site has a free-agent registration as well. I have to say that the "Casual" leagues for co-ed flag and soccer at least, aren't my idea of casual. There are some pretty amazing players on these teams, I'm pretty athletic but I'm gonna keep it real here, I really sucked at flag football. I didn't even know the rules. But with patient help and coaching from the others on my team by the end of the season I was actually somewhat useful and even made a completion in the end. My only negative point would be that the field locations can test your commute tolerance. Soccer has been fine - only two fields, both close to each other, but for football season I felt like I was driving all over creation (Springfield, Herndon, Reston, Centreville) to find a new field almost every week. That got a little old, but certainly won't stop me from signing up next season. read more

I have played flag football with FXA for over two years now (Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday). They are way more organized than most leagues in the area. Try playing in Arlington! The refs are much more fair (although there are some disagreeable calls, but that's expected) than other leagues. I have played for one that actually had the players move all the cones (can you say lazy?), etc. I have read some negative reviews on here....how they are not organized, they move times of games, they combine casual with competitive, they are overpriced..blah blah blah. Well, no one is perfect and yes it does sometimes suck when games are moved, but shit happens out of people's control. I have had games moved on me and I have had to have games moved because it was convenient for my team..and FXA was cooperative. I have played on teams that have gotten their as handed to them. It happens! The prices are high, especially for us who choose to keep our roster small......but you get what you pay for. If you are complaining about having to "have" a large roster....get some subs to add to it. Trust me, it comes in handy when half of your team is down. The only reason I left one star off for FXA (hint hint) is because it would be nice to have photographers take photos of games like some of the other local leagues. :) read more

Our FXA soccer Final game was spoiled by a terrible officiating that was so bad my son could have been seriously hurt I and the coach were so frustrated and angry at the continuous bad calls we were ejected. When witness at the game and myself and the coach complained and send emails they did nothing other than send us condensing emails scolding us like school children rather than listening to the people who were at the game and reprimanding the referee. Best adult sports organization In the DMV very reasonable prices, extremely organzied, with a wide varitiy of sports to choose from for whatever your preferences may be. You can ethier bring a full team in or a partial team and pick up a few free agents. Or if you are new to the area they will find a team for you. Great way to get out have fun and make some new friends and network. I'm the captain of Zidane XI, my team has been in this league for 3 seasons. FXA is an excellent organization and has improved drastically in the last 2 seasons. Updates are prompt and customer service is superb via email and text- referees are accurate and professional. You won't regret signing up. Highly recommended. read more

this league is horrible been playing here since 2016 and i always had issues with the refs in this league. brought it up with the president of this league and he never did anything about it some players even left the team because they were getting hit hard and refs did nothing to the other team. you pay to play in this league and they can't get at least a decent ref i mean common. the customer complaints don't even get handle well either they do not care about any issue you are having. will never play in this league again would not recommend there are way better leagues in the northern virginia area with better customer service and better refs. read more

Jeremy is terrible. This is an adult league, people have kids, family's, jobs, and other commitments that take time and planning. He is always switching playing times at very last min doesn't take in to consideration any of these things. The refs suck and when there is an issue Jeremy is not available to hear them and he doesn't even care about the issues. He promises things and does not follow through. My team has won championships several times and we were told that the next season would be free for us well we have paid for every season. I wish I could give negative stars here...that is how bad this league is. After playing in this league (in casual, competitive, and elite) for several years now, including presently, I can say with absolute resolution that once this season is over I will not be returning. I will break this down into three parts as to why FXA is not worth a penny of yours. To start, the FXA administration is a joke. To highlight this, a response to a yelp compliant about their organization: "And we don't understand why you think the league is a joke, because 96 teams (roughly 2000 players) this Fall 2012 season seem to enjoy the league." I can really tell from that response that they truly value players thoughts and looks for ways they can take constructive criticism to better the league. I can't even type that sentence without laughing. But this attitude is apparent in the everyday organization and management of the league. From games being cancelled or moved with hardly any notice to hiring incompetent refs, FXA could care less if your team is happy or not as long as they have your money. Secondly, the competition. There are a few good teams in this league (that literally destroy every other team) but for the most part its individuals who are looking to injure you so that they can feel tough. And don't try to rely on the refs to protect you, they practically encourage players to keep hacking away. But if you are looking to really practice your acting skills, specifically in diving/acting injured, then this league is for you! And finally, the referees...boy oh boy oh boy where do I start with this one. And I apologize in advance because this will be the longest section as it is single most reason why FXA is a terrible league and I will not be returning. There are so many things that they do wrong that it is hard to summarize it. First off, they aren't affiliated. This means that majority of the refs aren't officially certified and instead they are certified in the same way that an individual who wants to officiate a wedding is certified. Therefore, they don't actually understand the rules of the game. Just a few snippets of things I have heard from the refs: "he was traveling, there is no such thing as a hand ball, the whistle blown does not mean you stop playing, girls can't foul, etc, etc. etc." I wish I was joking but these are actual statements that have come out of the mouths of refs in the FXA league. I am not kidding when I say that list could go on to be an essay. On top of not understanding the rules, 75% of the time they get the call wrong or just don't know what call to make. This allows the game to get out of hand (i.e. repeated wrong calls or fouls going unnoticed) and tensions to get high. Never in my life have I seen so many games, in one league, end in a brawl because the refs couldn't manage or control the game. And do you think FXA management is concerned? Not in the least bit. Instead of solving the real issue and hiring competent refs, they instituted a policy that any dissent is an automatic red card. Too bad half the refs don't even know what a red card is... Honestly, I can't believe I wasted so much time and money into this shit league. It doesn't even make the sport enjoyable to watch or play. If you respect the sport of soccer and are looking to play a game with real competition and fair refs then go play in NVASA or any other league in this area for that matter. But if you are looking for an injury (possibly career ending) or to be yelled at by a power hungry ref then FXA is for you! read more

The WORST. Want to show up to night games with no lights on? check. Want to show up to games with no refs? check. Want the games to be cancelled within 10 mins of game time (being that games are all over fairfax county, commuting time can be upwards of 30 mins)? check. Want to be able to contact anybody at the league office, including the commissioner? Good luck! They don't respond to emails or texts! And that's just to name a few issues that I personally had to deal with. This league is completely disorganized and pathetic. They frequently combine competitive and casual divisions because not enough teams register in one or both of the divisions - why they don't just have the competitive teams play each other multiple times throughout the season and likewise for the casual teams is beyond me - they would rather demoralize the casual teams by letting them get beat up by the competitive teams - way to go! Anybody that has played in this league moves on to better ones; it's just not worth the headache(s). Seriously, save your money and chose a different league. read more

I've been playing FXA for over 5 years, but they've really been playing us. They claimed to have had a survey on whether or not teams preferred to buy their own flag belts or for the league to supply. The results were supposedly for players to have to purchase their own. Where da survey results at? I sent out a survey on how much BS FXA is exuding and received a conclusive amount through the results. Ok I didn't send one but see how easy it is to lie? Also this whole "out of county" fee is whack. Hint: use a fake address...these numbskulls won't know the difference. read more
