I could tell I was going to love practicing in their downtown space. And I picked the perfect time - the sun was setting through the large windows during my zen session after work. Perfection. The instructor was extremely friendly and the flow was relaxing and a challenge. Just how I like it. I was worried the studio would be jam packed since I know Prana is a popular studio - especially with all the downtown workers getting off, but surprisingly the class was rather small. There was tons of open space. Even at capacity I would guess you can fit A LOT of people in. There is a cubbie area with a place to stick your shoes and coat when you walk in the door. Also, Jai Juice is attached the the studio space. Perfect before or after class cleanse! I notice they offer several workshops and post regular events on Facebook - so check it out!

I love hot yoga!" I can't make hot yoga an everyday part of my practice, but every so often, I like to take a heated class to shake things up. My heated class this time happened at Fusion Yoga in Fort Wayne. First, I gotta give a shoutout to the owners for providing childcare. I have never seen such a thing at a yoga studio! I didn't have children with me, but several women in my class did, and I love that my sisters in yoga were able to practice for an hour in a space that welcomes kids, then kindly takes the children away so mom can focus on herself for a bit. What a wonderful thing to see, and it really set the mood for a nice class. Celeste was the instructor for my hot vinyasa flow class. She was great, and her class really kicked my butt. It was way more advanced than I thought it would be! In Celeste's class, I really challenged myself and did some things that I had never tried before, and I was happy with myself for keeping up with the class. The class was packed mat to mat, from the door to the front of the classroom, and a couple of times I had to focus on my breath so I wouldn't spiral from lack of fresh air (which can sometimes happen in a hot yoga class). But I made it the full hour, and was rewarded with that incredibly light and otherworldly feeling you only get after a hot yoga class. The studio itself was undergoing some renovations when I visited, so I didn't get to see much beyond the classroom and the lobby. They sell a lot of yoga paraphernalia, like yoga mats, clothing, and yoga mat cleaner that they make in-house.

Before my class, she took the time to ask if I had any pre-existing injuries or conditions. For those that did, she explained ways to adapt the move to avoid further strain. Whenever they notice a kid is struggling to be there, they give them lots of positive reinforcement. All the parents are wonderful and clap and cheer for all the kids to celebrate everyone's success. The kids are constantly encouraged to cheer each other on. A few months after my youngest started, I signed my older child up. She struggled with sticking up for herself and being too scared to use her voice. They've helped her find her voice and confidence. I loved what I saw in my kids so much, I joined the adult class myself! I've been going for coming up on a year and cannot say enough good things about what it's done for me. I did not start out in shape at all, I work a desk job. I feel better in all aspects of my life. It's more than just exercise. I love everyone who works here and my fellow students. If even the smallest part of you is interested for you or your child, I HIGHLY recommend it. They let you try classes to see if it's a good fit, but I promise you'll fall in love with it.

Tori has been on top of my nutrition and fitness and helping me understand how to manage that in an amazing way, she has always provided me with actionable items I can work on and guided me on how to manage my meals and relationship with food along with kicking my ass at the gym. Seriously though she has helped me tremendously on how to lift and work out effectively and correctly. She pushes me to always give my best and is a constant motivator. I could talk and talk and talk about all the amazing things this Gym is doing, but I'll end with a short personal journey: Before velocity my A1C (this determines if you are diabetic) was all over the place and was only in control due to meds like insulin, and when I worked out or played sports I would eventually injure myself due to bad form or doing things the incorrect way. After 12 weeks at Velocity - my blood sugar is the best shape it has been in a very long time (completely of insulin now), and I am having the best time working out I have ever had.
