The decor leading up to the rooftop was absolutely stunning and like nothing I've ever seen. The dining area was intimate and nicely lit. Upon sitting, our servers immediately greeted my party. They explained the menu briefly. I will say that throughout my visit, I was checked on by my server, multiple times. It was not overwhelming, and they genuinely wanted to make sure I had the best experience. Based on our servers recommendation I ordered the aperitivos. Came with delicious warm bread and butter, tempura prawns, dumplings, egg rolls, salmon tartare and crab rangoons. Everything was delicious. I also ordered the burrata. I was blown away by each and every dish. As far as drinks, this restaurant has the most unique and delicious cocktail. I tried the Sayonara Baby, No me llames muñeca, Taparrabos de Adan y Eva, Al Agua Patos, Love Potion, and Maracas de Machin. All of the drinks were delicious, refreshing and insanely cute. You could easily tell there was a lot of care and details put into each drink. If you cannot tell by this review, the food is beyond delicious. This was a perfect evening with great service and great food.

Staff very friendly and made great recommendations. The owner came over several times to check on us and allowed us to try a traditional soup dish on the house. This was just a few minutes of walking distance from our Sonder suite. After shopping for 6 hours, we were famished. We walked in around 7:30pm. They were kind enough to turn on the lights up for us in the dining room and seat us (dinner usually starts at 8-10pm in Spain). Let me just say that service was a class act from start to finish. Here is what we ordered: My son: I am going to have the Cod Tripe. What are you ordering, mom? Me: the Oxtail Traditional My son: Oooh, I will have some of yours too. Me: of course you are. My son: you can have one of my tripe. Please know that most places will ask if you want bread. They will charge you for it. My son used the bread to soak up the Cod Tripe Soup. I loved the chickpeas and I am happy my son got to have tripe before leaving Spain. It was on his bucket list of things to eat here. Our waiter came by with complimentary gazpacho and omg, what a delightful treat. It was perfect on a hot summer day. It had bits of potatoes and pears. I wanted a whole bowl. I think this place is a hidden gem!! Surprised that there are not more reviews. The food was absolutely delicious. It had that homemade touch! Don't forget to order dessert. We got the Pineapple Presented in 3 Textures. It had coconut milk and sago on one side and cinnamon crumbles on the other. The pineapple had sprinkles of salt. The flavor profiles tickled my tongue. Perfect on this 88 degree day. Truly worth a visit!

Had menus in english, if you needed that, as well as English speaking servers. I loved how eclectic the menu was, seemed like there was something for any craving. We enjoyed the tomato tartare, salmon, duck tacos and the chicken tikka masala. Traditional Spanish cuisine is wonderful but if you're looking for a change I think you'll love this place!

Hello my friends, I…read moreknow it has been quite some time, but I'm coming at you with a Dan Hanis certified all-time great restaurant right here. Absolutely everything on this menu is delightful. I don't think you can go wrong anywhere. As I began my journey abroad, I roamed the streets of Madrid, and I happened to run into 4 lovely ladies. Catalina, Teresa, Alejandra, and the craziest of them all, my girlfriend Elizabeth! Elizabeth and I hadn't talked for a couple weeks since I left the family farming business. She was infuriated when she received the news that I was walking away from my destiny. She just didn't know if she could love someone who wasn't a farmer anymore. As I took a break from my cellular device, we hadn't talked since I left. Running into her in Spain was quite the surprise. She told me that I was just truly the greatest man in the world and that she would love me farmer or not. On her quest to find me, she became friends with these lovely ladies. To celebrate life we decided to have a lavish meal at Bar Tomate! Enough with the backstory, this restaurant is one of my favorites I've been to in the continent that is Europe. Sometimes it can get messy having a diverse menu, but Bar Tomate handles it with such class. To begin the night, I ordered a delicious Whiskey Sour (it reminded me of the beautiful fields of grain back in my homeland of the USA!). For my appetizer I ordered the ceviche which was absolutely mouthwatering. Every time I think of it, I immediately start to drool, so I try to limit myself from thinking of this incredible dish. The fish, onion, and avocado are just so well balanced with the acidic taste of the juice (I love juice). This dish makes it into the Dan Hanis Dish Hall of Fame. I cannot recommend this enough. For my entree, I ordered the chicken tikka masala. By no means was it the best I've ever had, but it was a delicious eat nonetheless. For dessert, after we'd been at the restaurant eating and drinking for a total of four hours, we ordered the brownie sundae. Bar Tomate had such a wonderful atmosphere, and the employees were in no rush to get us out of the door. To this day, Bar Tomate, gave me one of my favorite dining experiences, and I'll forever be grateful to them for it. It was wonderful to eat amazing food and make new friends. I can't wait to tell you about the rest of my journey across Europe. God Bless America and God Bless Food! Your glorious food king, Dan Hanis

Being the first gastronomic heavy hitter of all the restaurants we'd hit in Spain, it was definitely an interesting journey. My friend was deathly ill the night before and we'd have to trek across the streets of Madrid which not only rain but hail in our suits. We'd arrived at the building which is actually a members only casino, which was founded back in 1836. It is also an art/architecture gallery, a place of gastronomy since Ferran Adria took over the food vision in 1998. As a historical structure alone, this is worth seeing but we were here for the food and we were going big with the menu degustacion. It's broken up into many parts in a playful manner: *Cocktail Caipirinha nitro *Snacks Sweet potato chips Alga Lollipop Saffron Styled Macadamian Nuts Tempura Petal Rose Philo Pizza Sandwish with Spiced Sausage Syrup with Roes of Trout *Tapas Liquid fritter 2006's version Razor clam with lemon, juniper and coconut foam Kellogs paella Marrow with caviar *Main courses Ceps with onion and bacon and Port wine sauce "Fettuccini Carbonara" Red mullets served in consomme Lamb with little onions and mushroom *Desserts Our Catalonian cream Liquorice cake with ice cream apple, lime pudding and creamy chocolate *Petitfours Crunchy raspberry snack Peta colas False "polvorón" cake made with pine seeds Bread with chocolate Tonka Toffee with Redcurrent As at El Bulli, there are a ton of courses and all very theatrical but at the same time, and more importantly, tasty. For after dinner coffee and tea, I don't know if I've seen a larger selection. Their in house infusion selection alone rivals any dozen restaurants put together. The service was very formal and we found that some of our servers were easier to break down than others, but in the end it turned out friendly even though it started out stuffy. If you don't end up making it to El Bulli, as they're closing by end of summer 2011, take a detour to Madrid and let Terraza del Casino treat you in similar fashion.
