I arrived ten minutes before my appointment and once I entered I walked over to the reception area…read moredesk as most people do upon entering a salon however on my way there I was asked 'can i help' by a lady who was already busy with another customer. I turned around and replied 'I have an appointment booked. I was asked to take a seat. I did and another lady brought me a drink of jasmine tea. In the open plan beauty salon there were other workers not working just sitting or dealing with other customers in the massage area out of eye shot - and a male customer in the waiting area and a female customer getting her toe nails done in the beauty area. Looking around the shop it was clean and well presented and the only thing that I didn't like was there was no privacy for the thai massage area - it was in an area where there was three beds next to each other - although I did not allow it to put me off the thai massage. The worker doing another customers pedicure broke off and blurted out to me 'do you have voucher'? I replied yes and she said 'you called this morning and said you no have voucher'. At this point i was feeling increasingly embarrassed by the way this worker was speaking to me in front of her customers. The lady said my voucher had already been used and that she could not accept it - this was a horrific shock and suddenly the relaxing experience I was looking forward to changed into a nightmare. I had to get out of my seat, disturb the ladies pedicure and speak to the worker doing the pedicure and physically show her my diary to prove I had booked and was genuine and that she had made some sort of mistake. After much confusion the lady said she would check my security voucher number whilst speaking in thai to the other workers - presumably about me and not in my favour- i said that is fine and waited. Please bear in mind all the workers assumptions were based on nothing but presumably my appearance as she had not seen my voucher nor asked my name or checked anything from her working seat up until now. After I re took my seat the worker spoke loudly to her customer saying - many people have come to the salon not shown any voucher - took treatment then ran. This obviously infuriated me but I kept my dignified silence regardless of this outrageous insult. Low and behold my voucher was checked and she apologised. I explained her behaviour was unacceptable and un professional and that I felt humiliated and that I didn't appreciate being assumed as a fraud. Throughout my talking the worker rolled her eyes and huffed. The lady asked me if I still wanted my treatment - I told her yes and id come all the way into Leeds for it. At this point I was feeling anxious and frustrated and wanted nothing more than relaxation. My pedicure when fine although it was 30 minutes later than my booking time - I was sat on a seat with an inbuilt massager - I was not invited to have it switched on and had to ask - afterwards I was told to lay on the massage bed at 2.57pm (I purposely checked my phone for the time to make sure I was treated for the right time especially after my initial treatment by the said worker). The worker then went away and did not return until 2.59pm. My thai massage was fine - very painful but to be expected as its not like oil massage. Practically the whole way through my massage the worker talked over me to staff and other customers - so not at all relaxing and actually in my opinion very rude. After the thai massage came my head massage - and at the end of my treatment I again checked my phone - it was 3.54pm. My thai massage was price listed as 60 minutes long - my indian head massage 10 minutes long so the two treatment time totals were 70 minutes which means the worker cut short my treatment time by 15 minutes - un acceptable when you are paying for time. However I remained polite and asked why my time had been cut short - the worker grew aggravated and said it was correct by her clock and then she began speaking angrily in thai to the other workers. I left feeling worse then went I enter New Orchid. I write this review to let people know the treatment I received as a genuine customer and person. I did not deserve the discrimination I was subjected to and the salon would be ashamed - offering holistic therapy based treatments yet the staff were so rude beyond belief - I would never return never recommend and never wish that upon anyone. Even the other customer felt my embarrassment and reassured me not to worry as I was obviously genuine and supposedly the lady having the pedicure revealed a customer had earlier been sent away because they could not find her reservation - she said they were un professional so this opinion is not just my own. Truly despicable.

The Thai massage here is good, however if you get the coupon off of their website make sure you…read moreprint it off and bring it in. They do not honor the coupon unless it's printed off. Also, the receptionist tried to charge me for 2 (30 minute) sessions after I said I wanted the massage therapist to focus on my back during the massage. The price for a one hour oil massage is 39 pounds, the price for a 30 minute massage is 29 pounds, so you do the math- she was trying to charge me over 20 pounds more for requesting special attention on my back for the same amount of time (an hour). She was rude when I disagreed to pay the extra- I said forget the request just charge me for a normal massage. Also, during the massage I could hear everything going on in the lobby and it was hard to relax. The massage therapist Amy did an excellent job with the massage, which is hard for me to say since I get massages regularly and have a high standard. Get the massage, just don't let the receptionist screw you in the price.
