Parking facilities, plenty of seating, much more modern and more staff so it's easier to get an appointment. Also run lots of groups for free, which is great. It's like a social event when I go now - everyone's so friendly.

If you are ever in need of a doctors surgery in Leeds then Craven Road Medical Centre is just one…read moreof the many options. When registering with doctors in Leeds there is a system like some Primary Schools which concern your catchment area. Basically, if you live within a certain radius of the establishment then you can register here, if not there will be another that is nearer to you. It makes sense but is a little annoying if you are still moving house every year with the tide of students in the area, as you may have to switch doctors. The actual surgery itself is very comfortable to visit. It has a wide and spacious waiting room that doesn't smell of ill people (sometimes more crammed ones actually do, honestly) and some very sweet and helpful receptionists. It is generally not a very long wait to get an appointment and in an emergency they will happily look through for any cancellations, or other ways of suiting your needs to make you all better. Once registered, you can also obtain a username and password for online appointment booking or ordering repeat prescriptions. Just ask at the desk and see their website.

As ever, the reception staff on the phone were lovely, and I was swiftly seen with little waiting time. On this occasion I had a lovely lady doctor, whose bedside manner was the best I've experienced in this practice -she was understanding, patient, caring and explained everything. The appointment took little time, and she quickly prescribed me a stronger, longer course of antibiotics, and gave me some salient advice on whether or not to perform a gig given the condition of my throat. It's never fun having to go to the doctors, but I know I'm in good hands when I come here, as I'm almost always well looked after. Fantastic!

I've always been a little scared of doctors. Registering is simple and takes no time at all. You just need a few personal details which Rowena has set out. I went into the Laurel bank Surgery section of the practice, which was friendly enough when you walk in. A very simple, little doctores surgery, there nothing to dress it up as something it's not, which you do find with some surgeries. If I'm honest, I think Laurel Bank was a little too imposing in terms of decor, especially keeping in mind how nerve-racking a trip can be. My doctor was absolutely fine, obviously my throat infection was not exactly the hardest thing for her to diagnose! One thing I would say is that the waiting room upstairs is very small and cramped, which is not great in terms of being cooked up waiting to be seen. It was also pretty warm when I was there, meaning I was worrying about floating germs.

After sorting an appointment on the phone with relative ease, I travelled across to Lexicon House, and sat to wait my turn amongst the other sufferers in the building. As ever, the process was pretty simple, although the waiting times were longer than I'd experienced before. This can't be helped, though. My appointment was barely a minute long -the doctor took one look at my tonsils and prescribed me a course of penicillin. My only issue was that given how swollen they were, in hindsight, I'm inclined to think that I ought to have had a stronger, longer course since within a week and a half of getting better I came back down with it again. Dang. The only other thing was that the appointment was so quick, that the pharmacist had to go through how to take the medicine, since he was too brief for me to get the instructions the first time around. I understand there were so many people waiting and wanting to get in and out, but just a few minutes more would have been better. In any case, they always do the job, so I'm always grateful for their services! The reception staff were also lovely, which is always nice.
