In this case I booked in for a waxing treatment, it was the first time I'd been to Bliss and I was apprehensive about it. Waxing can go terribly wrong in so many ways and often there's the embarrassment factor. My therapist was very warm and friendly and chatty but not too chatty. Bliss salons use the Australian Bodycare waxing system and it was this, along with the therapist's expertise that prove to be a revelation. I've had waxes in very many salons over the years and even frequented a very fancy place in West London that claims to be favoured by celebrities and I have to say that the wax I had at Baby Bliss was one of the best, quickest and least painful I ever had, not to mention good value for money. The salon and treatment rooms themselves are small and are showing some definite signs of wear and tear so this would not be the Bliss branch to choose for a luxurious and relaxing treat but as a local salon for your regular beauty maintenance you couldn't hope for much better.

I'd been meaning to get a leg wax for an age, and finally decided to bite the bullet, look on Yelp and get myself sorted. I think winter and laziness were the biggest catalysts in the process, having not actually paid any attention to my prickly props for sometime, so I was long overdue a visit. I telephoned to check out the times and such and booked myself an appointment. On the day I came along and was greeted nicely by my beautician, Kirsty, who wasn't in the slightest bit phased when I said, "OK, so I've never had a wax before!" I went through and she talked me through the basics, I got myself sorted and we did a test strip to check it was all good. It was totally fine! In no time at all she was waxing away, whilst we chatted (she was, as Carol C mentions, friendly but not over the top) and in no time I was finished. Of course, it stung a little, but it was by no means a harrowing experience. The salon itself is fairly small and dinky, but very welcoming, as all the staff I encountered were lovely. I was so impressed at the speed of the service I braved a bikini wax then and there, which had a lot more sting to it (I don't believe was anything to with the salon, more my pain tolerance levels!), but the whole process was swift and over in no more than 10 minutes. It was really good of them to fit that in too, as I'd only booked for a leg wax. As a reward for having spent over £30 I got to pick a small gift for myself, which is always lovely, so am now the happy owner of a delightful jar of nail varnish. I also have a loyalty card, so I plan to reap the rewards of that, in time. Essentially, if you want friendly swift service, and a great wax, this is the place to visit. The waiting area is highly stylish and comfortable and they had Molten Brown hand cream in the toilets which always impresses me. I had a therapeutic massage and I literally floated out of the building afterwards. It's a bit pricier than you would expect to pay at a beauty salon but it is worth every penny more.

I thought I would warn others. The Dr said during the session that she would give me the herbs for free because she understood how hard up people are. I asked the receptionist to check with the Dr about the price but was still asked to pay around £150. I cannot imagine that many will have this sort of money (I havent) and felt that I should let people know so that they are forewarned.

I had a very thorough initial consultation with 'Louise' the acupuncturist, who was very knowlagable and listened very carfully to what i had to say , then did the pulses and other stuff that Acupuncturists do. I had done a study in the validity of acupuncture in orthopaedics when i did my Ortho certificate, so i had an idea of what to expect.,,, anyway. after a very involved history taking i had my first treatment , which was comfortable and relaxed, It was explained to me what to expect, so i had no worries about needles or pain, in fact the whole thing was pain free and left me feeling very realxed. I realise it was the first of a few sessions so i know i have a few more to get the long term benefits, but i am looking forward to my next session and feeling more changes in my general wellbeing. I won't go into my ailments, but suffice to say, I know i will need more sessions and realise things sometimes get a little worse before they get better, but that was not the case today, i felt so much benefit afterwards, i would recomend this to anyone.

Especially if, like me, you wait until you are ill to register with a doctor. There is nothing worse than trying to track down vital information about your medical history, when you feel vulnerable and rotten! One Medicare @ The Light is split into two sections, a doctors surgery and a drop-in centre for emergencies. I have visited both, and have always received good and useful advice. Although it is situated right in the centre of town, I have not experienced any problems in booking an appointment. I have also been successful in requesting the attention of a female doctor or nurse, an option which is important to me and which should be offered. The website is useful, giving guidance on how to book an appointment and order a repeat prescription. Finding the surgery is quite a task if you are not familiar with its location. There is an large, wooden door next to the main entrance near Brown's, which leads you through to a lift straight up to the doctors. Failing that there is an entrance inside The Light, on the same level as the Vue cinema, a bizarre journey in. I have completed simpler orienteering courses, and this one is sometimes made twice as arduous due to the paper bag on my head, in the case of any face related medical problems! Although I have only visited One Medicare @ The Light a few times, I have never had any problems with the surgery and would recommend both the doctors and the drop-in centre.

When I was unfortunate enough to warrant a visit here on an emergency appointment the staff were quick and efficient and very friendly and helpful. I went straight in to see a lovely doctor who was that nice to me that she made me cry! She quickly sussed out my situation and sorted me a prescription out. Even better is that they have a Lloyds pharamacy attached to the side of the building so it's really convenient to go and pick up what ever you need.
