After a couple initial visits I am extremely impressed with the staff, the professionalism and the quality of care. And the biggest news of all: I now am an adult with braces. Walking in, your spirits are instantly lifted. Everyone is so darn friendly, from the front desk staff to Dr. Lyons and all his crew. I met and chatted with at least five different people who all made me feel right at home. They did some top-of-the-line x-rays and pictures that showed me 3-D images of my mouth (not pretty) and what needs to be done. While I was initially considering both Invisalign and braces, they ultimately convinced me that braces were the most effective and the best bet at this juncture. Getting the braces on was not the most comfortable experience. But again, they made it easy by chatting with me throughout the process, talking me through what needs to happen and patiently answering all my many questions. It's been a month now and so far, so good. Braces are definitely something for your mouth to get used to, but once you do they are totally manageable. As an adult, I was apprehensive about getting a consultation because, over the years, I was told by two other orthodontists that my bite was terrible and I would need surgery to fix it. Braces were not in my future, and I lived unhappily with my smile for over two decades. Fast forward several years, and my daughter had a specialized case that Dr. Datwyler successfully treated. Seeing his great work, it couldn't hurt to hear what he had to say about my teeth. After my consultation, Dr. Datwyler explained what I had going on and that he could treat me through modern brackets and bands. I was in disbelief, but knowing how awesome he was with my daughter's braces, I nervously decided to move forward. I wore my bands religiously for two years and eight months. You can see improvement when covered in brackets and bands, but nothing like once everything is finally removed. What I saw was a complete transformation in my smile. I immediately shed all those years of insecurity and was left speechless. I thought about the thousands of pictures where I never fully smiled. Although embarrassing to say, I must have looked at my teeth 100 times on my way home that day. With that being said, I reached out to them later down the line after my consultation to move forward with getting a plan in motion for me. I called and was told that they would give my notes to Dr. Datwyler and someone would get back to me. I called back 3 times within a 2 week period waiting for a response and each time was told that they were waiting for Dr. Datwyler to review the notes and would get back to me. Never received a call back. I understand that my dental situation is complex, but I feel like I was not a priority for them. If they aren't interested in taking me on as a patient, I would respect them if they told me that, so I could move on and find another place to work with. It is frustrating to have your time wasted and still going on week 3, not receive a call back.

After going to Dr. Thompson for over a decade I can say without a shadow of a doubt that he's not only professional, friendly, and competent, but he's also completely honest! My previous dentist "magically" found 8 cavities that needed filled over a 6-year period, but after changing nothing about my oral hygiene regimen, I've been going to Dr. Thompson for 11 years and he's never found any work that needed done. I even went in there today thinking I had a cavity due to newfound tooth sensitivity, and he told me it was just a minor recession in my gum, and I didn't need any dental work. His wonderful (and very knowledgeable) dental assistant Lexie even gave me a couple sample tubes of Sensodyne to alleviate the sensitivity issue. There are plenty of professional, friendly, and competent dentists out there, but Dr. Thompson is also honest. He doesn't just find work to do so he can bill your insurance; if he says you need work done, rest assured, you really do!

I REALLY like Dr. Guess and his staff. He is unpretentious, friendly, and very, very good with…read morekids. We went there for her bottom teeth, which just needed a retainer wire placed behind them. He put that in and it solved her problem over time. However, he also recommended braces for my daughter's top teeth, which were perfectly straight and neatly arranged. I had him explain to me so many times why she needed it, and I still didn't get it. When I asked him again later, after he put in the braces, he told me that there was a 50% chance of improvement and 50% chance of no change. He didn't mention that to me up front. I just wish I would have gotten a second opinion, because I can't tell the difference between before and after, except I'm out over $2,000. I just have to trust that this was a necessary cosmetic treatment, because I really like Dr. Guess. My gut however keeps me wondering if it was ever necessary at all.
