My husband and I walked into The Furniture Superstore today and was met by a salesman that changed my mind about shopping at the store. As soon as I walked in, I let him know that I was looking for an inexpensive dresser. I asked if there was a bargain basement or a clearance section and he said no. He told me I wouldn't find a dresser for under $500. (To us, he totally dismissed us, as if we didn't belong there.) When my husband asked if we could walk around he said "This is America you can do whatever you want." After looking we in fact did find several dressers under $500. He wandered down to us and said something about particle board and how unfortunately the store had to sell it. He also spoke badly about the Ashley line they offer. It's too bad I didn't tell him about the dining room set we WERE going to purchase along with the dresser! We are past customers of the store when we need something. We bought a recliner not so long ago that we love. Anyway, that's my two cents worth, which comes from a little fish in the big sea I guess. read more

We bought a couch with movable sections for $4000 less than 3 months ago. It is the most uncomfortable couch I've ever owned. The cushions already feel worn out as if it were 10 years old instead of brand new. Lying down causes extreme back pain where the sections connect. This establishments salespeople remind me so much of high pressure sales tactics car dealers use. There will be no returns, disclaimers everywhere you look, you will be charged for delivery, you will be lied to, and chances are that expensive recliner you just bought will basically fall apart before your very eyes. The salespeople won't leave you alone. They follow you like a dog, and try to sell the uglier furniture first. Then, at checkout, they want to add one thing after another to your order, most of it unneeded high profit garbage. However, this store is huge with a huge selection of nice looking, but cheaply made furniture. My couch I bought has held up well, but the recliner was a total expensive piece of shit. I will never do business with them again. I suggest thinking twice before shopping there. You can't shop in peace without the salesperson up your butt the entire time. Its hit or miss quality on overpriced furniture. I love furniture, but I can not recommend this place under any circumstances. Stay away! read more

I wish I read these reviews before we bought our couch. We purchased a "special order" Bassett couch, was charged $5,000.00 for it. We got it delivered to us the end of September, 2022. In November, we noticed that the seams were separating. I notified them. They asked me to send them pictures, so I did. Now, it is January, 2023 and the vendor calls and tells us that they have some of the parts to repair it for us and we will have to wait for the rest of the cushions to be delivered and they will "repair" it. For us to purchase a $5,000 couch and have it fall apart in 2 months, there is something wrong. I tried to contact someone, but have been told that there is no one that I can speak to. I would give this zero stars, but it won't let me. I've always bought my couches at Mardins or big lots. I figured I would go to the furniture superstore and get a really nice couch so I wouldn't have to buy one for a years. The person that helped me his name is Chris, talk us out of getting the one that I wanted and told us to get a couch with a metal frame and it would be guaranteed for 10 years. I even bought the extra insurance for the couch. When the couch was delivered, it was already damaged and I was told upon delivery that I was OK with this, per someone at the store. I was never informed or asked this. I would have never accepted a damaged couch after paying so much money. I called up and spoke to a couple of people there including the store manager and I was told that the couch is brand new. It was just defective and they're going to fix it and it will be good as new. It took them a few months to get someone out here to look at it, and I was told that he would fix it as good as new. asked her about six months he came out. He had to cut my couch open to get into it to replace a harness because it has electrical stuff in it so the whole electrical unit was bad when I got it. The couch does not look new now. you can tell where it was cut and put back together. It looks awful. After it was fixed about two months later, the both feet on both of the recliners were broken. I called them up and she said she would get someone to come out and fix it because it was within the year warranty. it took them months to come out and fix it. Two weeks after it was fixed the back of the couch broken a big piece of it snapped off. This is the biggest piece of junk I've ever bought in my life. I will never shop at the furniture store again after the treatment that I got from the manager when I called about the couch. I spent over $2000 on the couch and it ain't worth a penny. Now I have to go and spend more money to buy another couch because this one barely lasted a year. The back of one of the recliners broke off. The staff is not helpful. They don't tell the truth and they're just trying to sell you, the most expensive stuff in there. BUYER Beware do not buy stuff from the store. Boy, I wish I read these Yelp reviews before buying our new furniture! The salesman mislead us and ALL SALES ARE FINAL! Two pieces arrived damages (and our floor was scratched). This delivery was described to us as the "white glove treatment." What a joke! The furniture was finally repaired after several emails and phone calls. We purchased an accessory (battery pack) for $230 and again, no returns. Gee, I wish someone/anyone would have mentioned that. Spent $2800 on a couch and paid in full. Sales person was nice, delivery was fine. Purchased the additional $200 warranty on cushions and was told it covers everything. Ha. Filed several claims and never heard back once. Do not buy the warranty. It covers cigarette burns and human fluids but not pet fluids...ok...next time I'll just make sure to burn a hole in the cushion before I file. But I doubt anyone ever gets anything from them based on their 50+ 1 star reviews. Could have bought something nice from West Elm for this price. read more

When they tell you that they want you to sign something because they want you to "confirm we have the right address for shipping" take note of the "All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges." by the signature. They will NOT refund money even if they haven't shipped your item yet, even if you have a valid reason to need to cancel the order. Unreasonable, bad business practice. This indicates something shady is going on or they would be happy to put customers first. I should have read the reviews before Buying! I picked out a couch and chair after purchasing my new home. I was told 3-5 weeks! Totally reasonable. What I didn't know is that the product was out of stock when I ordered it. They won't be in stock until 8 weeks after placing my order and I won't get them till 10 weeks. Had I known I would't have purchased them. It's only been 6 weeks now and I am not allowed to exchange for something In stock. So I'll be without furniture for 2 and a half months. I have read all of the reviews which are all one star and oh well to all of those people. I have an awesome experience at this store, no hassle, no pressure. We took our sweet time looking for a living room set. We found one, they checked availability. Bam, in stock and can be delivered next day. I also said I do not have the full amount, I was financed on the spot and again no issue. I did order end tables that was to take 3 to 4 weeks. I just got them today, on time as promised. Also my living room did come the next day. All in excellent shape and no worries. Everything worked out great and I would go back there in a heartbeat. Extremely disappointed with the management of this store. This situation involves a very large purchase of $3000+ and a very minute problem regarding accessories. There was a misunderstanding which I would have been fine with and wouldn't have complained. That said, the general manager put the poor salesman, who was involved in the misunderstanding, on probation. This young man was by FAR the best salesman we have ever worked with...he was very helpful, understanding of medical needs. He absolutely did NOT need to be disciplined beyond a verbal warning. To make things worse, the GM stated that he would require this salesman to buy us the two small accessories out of his personal paycheck instead of the store. When speaking to the general manager on the phone regarding the matter, he refused to listen to the situation and continuously reiterated the same sentence over and over. He said we could return the furniture for a refund or we could just move on. I have never, in my life, spoken to such an organization that does not value customer service. Do not recommend this company to anyone. If I could give less than one star I would. This company stole from me. They're sales staff are high pressure just looking to make a quick sale. Did not have the right information on the item I purchased. The return policy is not appropriately posted and I was told while my card was being run by both associates what a great sales department this company has and how they will take care of you. Not 24hrs had past and I called back after researching the item I purchased and realizing the dimensions were not correct and would not work for my home. I was told "all sales final, no refunds or exchanges." The manager refused to call me back or have a manager above her or the owner call me back and insisted she had spoken with them but that they were out for the day and would not call me back either. She reported cancelling my delivery but also refused to refund me. My wife and I purchased two Ekornes chairs from the Furniture Super Store in Lisbon, Maine on 10/9/2017 knowing our chairs were special order and would take a couple months to come in. On 12/30 we were told the chairs were in. Only one came in and one was lost in shipment. On 1/26/18 the second chair came in. Once we received "my chair" we found the chair would not swivel readily. My wife found the swivel ring did not turn and scratched our hardwood floors. Over 10-12 phone calls from receipt, and promises the chair would be satisfactory we received back my repaired chair on or about 3/1 - 3/2. I let the chair acclimate from the cold truck and that night it was marginally better. The next morning the chair was difficult to swivel. Several phone calls later culminated in bringing back the chair to meet with Ken (Mgr.?) and owner Mr. Abrams on 3/10/18. Our conversation with Mr. Abrams felt like he wanted us out of the store and he wanted nothing to do with us being satisfied nor was he committed to ensuring our satisfaction. we will never again us this store! which is unfortunate as we had picked out a bedroom set we were going to get once the living room set came in. we ordered a sectional couch in november, and were told by the very unhelpful sales lady, that usually the deliveries are 2-4 weeks but cause of the holiday they would be 4-6 weeks. after calling numerous times (starting around 5 weeks after we ordered) we finally got someone to call back on jan 9th only to tell us our sectional, that we paid over $3500. for, will not be in until after the middle of february now! another 1.5 months minimum! the sales lady was very uninformative when we went in there to purchase the sectional and that should have been a red flag as she had no idea what fabrics we could choose and was not good with the paperwork....but we loved the sectional. we had to demand that the correct info be on the paperwork before we left the store as the color was written wrong and she wanted us to sign it and i said no not until its changed and the manager moaned and groaned about it then fixed it, supposedly. so after demanding to speak with the shady manager on jan 9th, in the lisbon store i was asking what is going to be done about being told 4-6 weeks **maxx** than told it can be 12 weeks at times when we got them on the phone and that cause i signed the paper that says that shipments can take longer than the 'estimate' & that they are not responsible. if there was a zero rating for this place, you'd have it! not happy and will never be back and will not recommend you to anyone. i will contact the media about this! as i see others have also had very bad experience with this location. i asked for something as little as discount or refund (at least $200 off our total is very reasonable) for the misinformation and having to wait so long and was refused. this wont be the last head from me. we do not want a refund as we do want the sectional but we are very unhappy and feel ripped off and lied to!!!!!!!!!! read more

NEVER going here again! My husband and I bought our 1st mattress here and have been trying to get our mattress warranted for 3 years and have had no luck. We have taken all of the pictures we are told as well as completed various documentation. Each time we are told we have done everything required BUT a few days later we get a phone call indicating our information is invalid and will not be accepted for warranty. The staff indicates they have no record of our original claim so we end up wasting more and more of our time. This last time we submitted for a warranty, they said we were good to go and then we received a phone call indicating we cannot get a warranty and that is what happens when you buy one of the cheaper beds. What is the point of a 10 year warranty if we cannot get it based on the fact the bed isn't the best out there. An owner should not tell their customer too bad, you should have bought a more expensive bed that wouldn't have sunk so deep after a year. At this point we are done with this company and will do business someplace else and hopefully not waste anymore money since we cannot get a warranty for this $2,000 plus bed. . read more

My mom tried a chair on their showroom floor. She picked out a fabric and they said 6 to 8 weeks to be delivered. When it came in, it look like it was put together by a five-year-old. One side of it looked completely different than the other. The back did not match. The handle where you recline, had no material around it. I sent pictures. They took it back and sent it back to her with just a minor adjustment. When she reclines it will not lock in , which is dangerous for an 88 year old. I called them back, and spoke with the manager. He was rude, unwilling to help, and told me he never should have taken it back the first time. If you read the reviews for this store online, you will stay away. I am sending pictures to the Maine Attorney General. In hopes that nobody else will get taking advantage of the way we did. The store is full of junk! They know it, they sell it, and have no remorse. BUYER BEWARE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE Furniture Superstore.  We just received the WORST customer service from the Furniture Superstore that I have ever encountered. I purchased a dining room set September 9th with an additional 2 chairs which I was told would be delivered in 8 - 10 weeks.  After 17 weeks, 3 emails and 10 phone calls which no one EVER called me back on, they finally called and told me my chairs were in.  They wanted me to go pick them up. After communicating my dissatisfaction with their lack of customer service they finally agreed to deliver the chairs on 1/13/17.  The chairs they delivered did not match my set. My husband talked to someone at the furniture superstore during the delivery about this error and was told they would call us back by Friday 1/20.... Of course no one called, again amazing customer service....NOT.  So I called last night and left a message.  Well they called today and they said they have 6 chairs in the showroom they want me to bring the 2 chairs that don't match back and pick 2 others... My husband said well how am I going to know if they match my set? The person was well why don't you bring a chair from your set,. My husband why don't you have your guys load the 6 chairs in their delivery truck and come to our house so we can be sure the chairs match our set and you can take back the 2 chairs that were delivered last week which don't match as this is your error.  Besides, we really do not have a vehicle to move furniture and would appreciate it if you could assist us in resolving this issue.  The customer service person from the Furniture Superstore said 'we are not bringing chairs to your house, I can tell you that is something we are NOT doing...  We will refund you for the two chairs'.  My husband said if you cannot get us 2 additional chairs that match the set we bought from you, you can come and get the dining room set.  We need a set with 8 chairs. The customer service rep then became very angry and was shouting and would not let my husband speak... Again great customer service!  I would suggest the Furniture Superstore, spend less on advertising and more on customer service which is extremely lacking in this organization..... read more
