Absolutely horrible experience today 11/15/25 when we visited La-Z-Boy to select and purchase all…read morethe Furniture we need for a home we are building in Wilmington, NC. So we live in Scarborough, Maine and my wife and I went in there today to view complete furniture items to basically furnish our entire house that we're building in Wilmington, North Carolina upon our arriving at the store. This woman came out to us older women very bubbly. can I help you today? What are you guys looking for? So my wife explained to her that we're building a home down in Wilmington, North Carolina and we need everything we need bedroom sets we need Furniture for our living room. We need a dining room tables. We need everything and the woman immediately went too well we are a privately own store. You're gonna have to go to the factory store in North Carolina and order everything there and they can deliver it to your house. We don't do deliveries that far not knowing not knowing we weren't asking for anything anything to be delivered that we will be taking a U-Haul truck right here here from Maine And bringing our furniture that we're buying in addition to other stuff that we need to bring down to Wilmington so we said OK. She said you're more than welcome to look at anything here if you want to and you know and then you'll know what you need down there so my wife said OK that sounds great and so she said we'll have at it and she walked off on us and basically I said to my wife there's no commission here that she can see because she thinks that we're looking to have it Delivered so therefore she walked off on us. It's absolutely terrible Lowe and behold let me share with you. We left there quite disappointed to say the least and we directly went to West Elm where we shared everything with the woman that met us upon arrival that we did with this woman at La-Z-Boy and she said OK so let me ask a few questions. We do deliver because we do nationwide deliveries however are you going to want it delivered there or are you going to be picking it up here and being Brent brought down we said we can do either or it does not matter. She said OK whatever works works best for you and we then selected our entire furnishings, Sofa, Bedroom set for Primary bedroom as well as the guest room, bar stools for breakfast bar, dining room table and chairs, two swivel chairs, coffee table with two end table for bedrooms, cabinet to sit below tv on the wall, we put the complete order in and paid for everything $14,786.46 and we were done. This woman at West Elm was a true professional and took the time to ask questions rather than assume we wanted or expected everything delivered to Wilmington unlike the woman at La-Z-Boy. Shame on the sales rep at La-Z-Boy. I would never ever buy nothing from La-Z-Boy again for the way I was treated today and intend to share this all over social media and with all my huge network of friends.

This review is actually two pronged. Staff at this location was fantastic. We purchased a mattress…read moreand scheduled delivery in three weeks, then received a call saying that the mattress was backordered and they had no idea when it would arrive because the mattress manufacturer was experiencing delays in needed supplies. The staff asked if we would be willing to take another mattress, and we could not, as we selected that mattress with health issues in mind. We were able to cancel the order for a full refund. Mattress Firm, the company, is not as fantastic. They didn't notify the staff until 1 day before delivery that the mattress was backordered, which evidently from other reviews is the company norm. I consider this to be completely unprofessional. Thankfully the delivery date was a Saturday so we didn't lose any work time because of it. Interestingly enough, we ordered the same mattress from another retailer and it was delivered within three weeks with no issues whatsoever, so I don't know if the company itself is pulling a bait and switch, or if their warehouses are depleted.

Not just like antiques. Awful. The woman behind the counter was talkative in a bad way. I relish friendly conversation when visiting shops. It's one of my favorite things about visiting stores! But this woman just kept asking questions, one after the other, the entire time I was there. I tried to make it clear with body language that I was just interested in browsing, but she kept on coming with the questions. It was more of an interrogation than a dialog. Merchandise wise, I saw nothing of value. Everything was sort of just stacked in dusty piles. There were none of the, "Oooooh, look at that! What a cool thing!" moments that you want when visiting an antiques or thrift-type shop. Maybe there's some hidden treasure in there, but for me it wasn't worth the dig.

Some online prices may be lower, but I value the cheerful, expert assistance and the fact that I can shop local. The Curtainshop definitely applies purchase/return standards, but that's what prevents their store from looking like a picked over, half-empty Target display, with returns jammed into plastic bags. They also have great fabric in up to date styles if you want to make your own window treatments. They also sell rugs, pillows, furniture and soft goods for bathrooms and bedrooms. As for the custom made department, it does sound like they should be transparent up front about the 'bring your own fabric' pricing. Their 'up charge' for using customer supplied fabric is 100% standard for all fabrication departments that also sell fabric. Think about getting your car fixed. Would your repair professional be excited about or even agree to use parts you bought on discount? The role as a 'middle person' in these businesses is just part of their profit margin - otherwise they would just raise basic labor rates even more. You would pay for it somewhere. Custom made draperies are labor intensive and exorbitantly expensive EVERYWHERE . It is part of the reason drapery styles are more simplistic these days, and why I learned to sew.

I was starting to give up until I saw the sign for Folsoms furniture and thought, why not give it a try. I'm so glad I did because the store carried quality products, all made in the U.S. and the owner, John Folsom, had extensive knowledge on each piece. The store has been in his family since it was started by his great grandfather and it's obvious he takes immense pride in the business. His prices are very reasonable and the customer service was excellent! I highly recommend Folsoms furniture.
