NO NO NO!!! THE WORST!!!!!! If I could give zero stars I would! I wanted to stay local so I upgraded the existing system in my new house for $450 of new equipment to bring it within reasonable standars- I was fine with this as I thought I owned the system and could do as I wanted. I understood that you buy your own equipment and are responsible for maintaining it so again I assumed you could discontinue monitor services when you want/ do what I want with the system.... FALSE!! Just like the companies who give you new updated equipment you have to sign a 3 year contract but they don't advertise that (IN THE VERY FINE PRINT ON BACK SIDE OF THE 1 PAGE CONTRACT- No one mentioned there was a FULL back page of stipulations). VERY SHADY!! VERY RUDE. 3 weeks into my contract- the monitor indicated low battery on one of my sensors. I changed the battery and it didn't fix the constant beeping. I called service and they came and charged me $90 to scrape the corrosion from the bottom of the battery receiver- 3 weeks old (2 minuted)!!!!!!! I talked to Don Westbrook the owner and he told me he would do nothing since a tech came out even though I was with the company less than 3 weeks. (It should have been their responsibility to make sure my equipment was working before reactivating). Also please note I am 10 minutes from their office. I was so mad but I paid. So I decided to get a new alarm system with all upgraded wireless equipment (included) and now I have to pay $250 for them to not monitor the equipment I OWN. CANNOT say more bad things. DO NOT GET THIS ALARM SYSTEM!!!!! Got an ADS system cheaper and all new wireless equipment & camera. BEWARE!!!! Thinking about taking to court as others have. NO NO NO on alarm system and Don Westbrook. I tried to stay local and got burned. I'm sure his predecessor (founded in 1963) was better at local customer service as if he was decent I would have been a lifelong customer. His loss- Hopefully this helps others avoid the same issues. Unbeknown to homeowner, home was not being monitored and Furlongs never noticed home offline on their system but instead insisted that it is the homeowners responsibility to test each month (What are you paying for??). Our system sent out a faulty alert to their call center. I requested that someone investigate to determine the cause. Nothing tangible resulted even though we were charged $122. In disgust, I asked for our monitoring service to be canceled and was told that we would be penalized over $200 for early termination. In short, Furlongs appears to care more about its bottom line than customer service. read more

Beware of the poorly written and/or deceptive 'contract' that you have to sign even if they do not install alarm equipment for you (the ADT equipment was already in the home we purchased and the previous residents were existing Furlongs customers). Even though they hand wrote 'monitoring of existing customer' on the contract, they claim the fine print states we signed a 6 year contract (written as 2 consecutive 3 year terms). Furthermore, they claim you have a short two month window to cancel at the end of the six year term or you automatically 'renew' into an additional 3 year contract. We thought they were a wonderful company until we cancelled our home phone service and attempted to cancel the monitoring service. I had the misfortune of dealing with this company and would not recommend to Anyone. They want to charge customers even if they are not Providing any service to that customer by "locking" you into a poorly written "contract" and then (in my opinion) bullying you into paying out the "contract" even though it is not written on an enforceable format (for customers that had existing systems in place only requesting monitoring service). From my personal experience, office staff cannot explain their own Contract when asked to, and they immediately refer you to this attorney that bullies you by threatening to have your credit ruined if you don't comply With this "contract" that is not Even written to cover those of us with existing systems in place. It was shameful what I went through just to try to prove that I did comply With the provisions of this "poorly" written contract...what was amazing was this attorney actually admitted in court that the contract was poorly written (but followed that with a statement that he did not draft it....of course this was not said in front of his client, just the judge. The. When the judge ruled against his client, he has the Audacity to appeal the Verdict and take it to court for a Second time. If you know you are wrong, don't waste the court"s time and don't waste someone who was a Customer"s time or money either - redraft the contract (do the right thing and move forward!)....not this company, they don't operate this way. I am sure they are Proud to know they cost me more in legal fees than I recouped, but some things are worth it just for the principle. Received a second judgment against the company from the second court case, and then the attorney attempts to convince me To sign a "do not disclose" or else Furlongs would go to the Alabama Court Of Civil Appeals. He indicated they would pay the judgement they had been ordered to Pay if I would Sign a do not disclose statement. I called him on his bluff because I knew the Court of Civil Appeals would laugh at this case, were they to file...two judges had already ruled against them - it was absurd, but just another Attempt by the company and their representation at bullying customers for something they were not entitled to. Myself and another lady testified in the 2nd case and had I been Furlongs, I would have been ashamed Of how their representation treated us!. In the second trial, Mr. Don Westbrook sat right there and allowed this attorney to behave in this manner without blinking an eye. It was shameful! read more

I recently lost the combination to my safe. When I called Furlongs who installed it, they stated they did not have it on file and would need to send someone out. What they would not tell me was that they could call the manufacturer and get it (2 minutes on the phone). I tried to give them the serial number and other info but they would not take it. They were only after the service call charge of coming to my house. I made it clear that I wanted the combination only. When the rep arrived, she actually thought it was to drill it open (unprepared), which would cost at least twice as much. They knew what they could do but wanted the money instead. Do not ever use these people for anything. It will cost much more than the safe!!! When I called to complain the lady I spoke to made it clear that I was not a valued customer and that I could go elsewhere next time. Again, BEWARE!!! read more
