    I had the services for about five years. There was a need for a lot of maintenance as the equipment…read moreoften failed to work. Eventually, my outside camera stopped working. My wife called them to ask for a replacement and was told we would have to upgrade the entire system. I didn't have such issues with ADT so I decided to cancel the services with Vivint and get a system with ADT. I called Vivint several times to cancel my services. Each time I was interrogated regarding the reason I wanted to cancel and was subjected to attempts to get me to upgrade my system. When that didn't work, I was put on hold several times. When that didn't work, they simply hung up the phone. This went on for months and I didn't use their system. Instead of them canceling my services as I requested, they continued to bill me. I found this out when a collection agency sent me a letter. This was so unprofessional of Vivint. A person has the Right to cancel their services. I tend to believe that I am not the only one who has had this issue with them. Something is strange about this company. One customer service rep became panicky when I pressed him 10 straight times to cancel my service and proclaimed that he "didn't want to lose his job." That was not my problem. All I wanted was my service cancelled as requested. I will never use Vivint again and do not recommend them for your security needs. They do that adequately, but their equipment needs a lot of maintenance and getting a cancellation is frustrating, time consuming, and may require legal action.

    NO NO NO!!! THE WORST!!!!!! If I could give zero stars I would! I wanted to stay local so I…read moreupgraded the existing system in my new house for $450 of new equipment to bring it within reasonable standars- I was fine with this as I thought I owned the system and could do as I wanted. I understood that you buy your own equipment and are responsible for maintaining it so again I assumed you could discontinue monitor services when you want/ do what I want with the system.... FALSE!! Just like the companies who give you new updated equipment you have to sign a 3 year contract but they don't advertise that (IN THE VERY FINE PRINT ON BACK SIDE OF THE 1 PAGE CONTRACT- No one mentioned there was a FULL back page of stipulations). VERY SHADY!! VERY RUDE. 3 weeks into my contract- the monitor indicated low battery on one of my sensors. I changed the battery and it didn't fix the constant beeping. I called service and they came and charged me $90 to scrape the corrosion from the bottom of the battery receiver- 3 weeks old (2 minuted)!!!!!!! I talked to Don Westbrook the owner and he told me he would do nothing since a tech came out even though I was with the company less than 3 weeks. (It should have been their responsibility to make sure my equipment was working before reactivating). Also please note I am 10 minutes from their office. I was so mad but I paid. So I decided to get a new alarm system with all upgraded wireless equipment (included) and now I have to pay $250 for them to not monitor the equipment I OWN. CANNOT say more bad things. DO NOT GET THIS ALARM SYSTEM!!!!! Got an ADS system cheaper and all new wireless equipment & camera. BEWARE!!!! Thinking about taking to court as others have. NO NO NO on alarm system and Don Westbrook. I tried to stay local and got burned. I'm sure his predecessor (founded in 1963) was better at local customer service as if he was decent I would have been a lifelong customer. His loss- Hopefully this helps others avoid the same issues. See how others have taken him to court and won!

Unbeknown to homeowner, home was not being monitored…read moreand Furlongs never noticed home offline on their system but instead insisted that it is the homeowners responsibility to test each month (What are you paying for??). When recognized the company only wanted to up-sale new system. They do not do the right things when faced with poor customer service. Poor character. Be warned.
