We have a home warranty with AHS, and Bye Door Installs was the selected service provider. The technician came out on Friday and instead of focusing on the problem, he criticized the builders, saying things like, "These builders just throw these houses together and they don't put the doors on correctly" and "You see where this light is coming in, they didn't do that right." He mentioned something about the tensions, ordering parts, and said he would return on Monday or Tuesday to fix it. Imagine my shock when we received an estimate from them through AHS of $8,723, claiming the door looked like it had been hit by a car, wasn't installed correctly, and needed to be replaced. I was flabbergasted. I called the company and spoke to someone who said they didn't understand how it could be that much and promised a technician would call me back. Of course, no one did. I tried calling several times yesterday and this morning, but no one answered. I called AHS and requested a second opinion, but they needed to find a new service provider, which would take another 48 hours. We found a local company yesterday that came out this morning. They tightened the spring, added a new coil, and completed the job in 20 minutes for $199. The only explanation for this discrepancy in price is that Bye Door Installs was trying to scam AHS and us as consumers. I'm sure they thought we would fall for anything because my car was trapped in the garage. I urge you not to use this company. If you are in the Auburn/Opelika area, I highly recommend Up Down Garage Door. Excellent service with integrity.

I hired another company that said it was the worst installation they had ever seen. They said the rewind bar would fail due to faulty installation and that my 18' door required two springs rather than the one he installed. They removed everything he installed and installed a system that works smoothly. When I spoke to him about the problems he promised to come by and resolve the issue. He failed to come on the day he promised and did not respond to a voicemail I left him. After subsequently threatening him with legal action he offered to reimburse me $225 for the removed parts he installed if he could pick them up but refused to reimburse me for the labor he provided for an installation that was totally removed and replaced. It appears I'll have to take legal action to recover the $425 I paid him. While he was here he told me he was a Lexus salesman before he began his one-man business. He was a smooth talker but not a good repairman.
