this place was terrible nothing works spent 25 dollars to play pac-man and went there for bowling oops forgot to mention rides don't work

I recently had my grandbabies bday party here, remind you I have been coming here for over 20 plus years. Number one you get 1 hr to do a birthday party and then they offer you to move to a regular table to finish up party because they don't give you enough time on long tables. Then they had the nerve to advise us to put gifts in our ride because no decorations can be on table! Are you kidding me???? I just spent alot of money here and I can't put gifts on the table. Number 2, half of your rides didn't even work properly, the go carts weren't even working and you have the nerve to tell us to take gifts out!!!! I will NEVER have another party here or come back to the ghetto ass place in my life....after 20 plus years.....smh. read more

I suggest never coming here it isn't worth it at all we literally paid like $100 bucks for three cards but to do nothing at all !!! Honestly very furious and never again come to this place at all what so everrrr !!! Trying to play the games the cards only come with alittle bit of points and half the games don't work or are missing the stuff and not at all was it unlimited point like we thought they only were for go karts and bowling and skate for 29.99 each card. This was my first time there with my partner and my little girl and tried getting a refund cause we didn't get to skate cause they said there were no more show sizes of ours. The employee was trying to charge us $15 still after we just paid for the cards, bowling alley no one helped us waited there for 30 mins in a line and left, Go karts only had three go karts. Employees need more training working there to not be able to handle everyone there and better customer service. Very unprofessional. And Tried getting my money back and the ladies in the front were rude and I told them I literally paid for cards to do NOTHING!! If I could rate this place deserves : negative stars ! Apparently they've made some changes but it's still looks the same. The play port changed and they just put a bunch of dirty bounce houses in there. Worst part is the prices changed. Where you would have paid 7 dollars before for the play port- you now play 15.99 plus tax. They try to clump everything in packages cause if you buy it ala carte it's almost the same price. The prices need to match the place. Boooooo I won't be coming back. I have two kids so it cost me 32 + for just the play port. So this place has gone through different owners but whoever is managing it now has really made it nice. They repaired the floor in the skate. It is really nice inside. Games still a little pricey but they have a lot of specials Monday through Friday. I have been coming here since inshallah was 12. That's 24 years. Do not waste your money going here. On a Sunday afternoon the bumper cars section was shut down for what looks like construction and the go karts were out of charge. Half the arcade games are very badly maintained The puck on the air hockey table had to be moved around by hand as it kept stalling in the middle of the table. i came here with a group to go roller skating. when i pulled into the parking lot, i wasn't sure where to go, but my friend texted me, and told me to "follow the ghetto club music" lol. i asked the kid in the front where the skating rink was, and he directed me to it. when i got there, i found out i had to pay up at the front. thanks, smart kid, for not telling me this, and making me take an extra trip back to the front door, then back to the rink again! there's a reason why some people get paid minimum wage, i guess. man, the last time i rollerbladed was in junior high, and the last time i had roller skates on was prolly some time in the early 80s. gah! did i just date myself?! we had a great time skating around to hip hop and watching the experienced skaters do fancy moves with the beat. if you're not an experienced skater, this is NOT the place for you, unless you like falling down. the experienced skaters skate aggressively and will cut you off, and the kids who suck will pull you down with them when they fall. i was nice at first, and let some kid pull on my arm to keep him from falling, but he groped me, so after that i got smart and learned how to duck and dodge! lol read more

This place is under new management, and I like it. This place is going to rock. The bowling was GREAT. The service was GREAT. This place ROCKS !!! Me and my friend went early so I could learn how to roller skate before ice skating elsewhere and so we decided the earlier the better, not too crowded but late at night it gets pretty busy... the concession stands serve the average hot dogs, cheeseburgers, etc and are kinda pricey due to convenience and are all $10.99 which is expensive since the food isn't all that great... it's like lalala land for children read more

Only writing this review based on their Friday night bowling. The prices are decent and the place looks pretty cool. However, my friends and I kept having problems with lane 8. It was cutting into our bowling time. We couldn't even finish our last game because of it. Our balls kept getting stuck and the pins wouldn't reset correctly. It wad getting us frustrated. I mean the prices are good and the staff are friendly but some of the lanes need some work. This possibly be the worst entertainment complex I have ever been to. THESE PICTURES ARE DECEIVING! First off the whole facility is disgusting and looks as if it hasn't been properly cleaned in 2 years. The bowling alley is very outdated and the shoes are basically goodwill shoes. Every bowling ball looks like the finger holes carry a disease with them. The fireball takes 40 minutes just to get one group loaded and unloaded especially if the worker looks like they hate their job. (which all the workers look like they hate their job) the only SEMI positive things about this park that were DECENT at best was go karting and the free fall ride. When my family and I started to play bowling, we were immediately stopped by a problem with their machines. We switched lanes three times and experienced many different issues, balls were stuck, pins wouldnt come out, and it constantly had to be reset. That wasnt even the worst part of the whole experience! The staff was the worst I've ever dealt with. Their actions were careless, attitudes not right for dealing with customers, gave many different looks when asked for help, and overall they were not suit to be helping customers. Many dirty and inappropriate looks were given when we were leaving before the game was even finished from the staff. Our fun planned Sunday afternoon was ruined because of the many difficulties of their staff and equipment. 100% never going back there and wouldnt reccomend it to anyone that is looking for fun or a good time. Dont waste your money on this place with their old problematic equipment and untrained employees. It was a waste of time. read more

This place is horrible from the management to the employees. If you want to have a good time do not go here. The manager Veronica is rude, which matches the staffs attitude. Upon entering the facility we had to call management due to the rudeness of the staff. After speaking with Veronica it was apparent how the night was going to be. My first thought was to turn and leave, but we had guests from out of town and their kids were anticipating the fun. As fate would have it the day turned progressively worst. We started with bowling, where this place requires you to leave one of your shoes in order to bowl. OK..we digress. So we go to our lane which is situated next to a young lady whose child is out of control. We begin our bowling and our balls keep getting stuck. We press the service key to no avail and then send one of the kids over to seek help. Tony (the person behind the desk) was so rude and abrupt with the kids, so we had to send over an adult. Not much better result, but it did bring an representative over to help out with the balls. We go back to our game when the unruly child is running across all lanes, taking balls from every rack and bowling on everyone's lane. When we gently mention to the mother of this 3 year old, her kurt response is" the ball is gonna come back aint it". I guess that would have been okay had I not paid $400 for my personal ball which I purchased for my use. So we once again approach the counter to asked an have our lane moved in an effort not to spoil the evening of our out of town guest. After 20 minutes of waiting we were moved 3 lanes over. As we were getting to the 7th frame of our game our game was halted. So once again we go to Tony to ask why our game was halted. He stated because we moved lanes we had to pay again..............Okay enough is enough we never made it to any other part of the establishment as I did not want to subject my guest to any more non sense. So our guest get their one shoe and we leave the establishment. Only to be stopped by security, who tells the guest (in broken English) who purchased their drink from the bowling alley that she could not take her plastic throw away cup from the facility. When we ask why, he says "it could have alcohol in it". We inform him that it is iced tea. He then enforces the fact that she can not leave with the cup. At this point we have had enough and tell him if he would like the cup we would be happy to leave it if he kindly reimburses us the $2.19 we paid. He then says go ahead and leave. If you want to have a good time - DO NOT GO TO FUNPLEX !! The customer service experience from management to customer service representatives is marginal at best. read more

I don't know why this place has a bad review. Because of it I was leery to go here the first time, but when I walked in the door I was greeted by friendly staff and the prices are very affordable. Just got off the phone with the general manager who hung the phone up in my face. I was upset with the communication that was occurring between myself and the staff members. I was given incorrect information and the manager stated that it was not their fault and she was NOT going to fire her employee. I never asked her to. I asked her to have them informed and to get on the same page.They gave me an incorrect time for adult night skating. They did not tell me that the guest would not be allowed inside until 10PM. As a courtesy, she claim to allow me inside 20 min. early but actually it will be 15. She said I can enter at 9:45pm. She could not count I had been calling and trying to get answers for 3 weeks and they had my deposit but could not find time to return a phone call. Then I called the day of my event (today) and was told that the manager was on vacation A friend of mine who is also having an event here was given different information from me. She then told me that I was lucky and they normally charge $75 a table in the skating rink area. I paid $25 because that is that amount told to me by the staff member. I have had Yelp for just 1 1/2 - 2 years now and have never had to write a bad review for any place. I'm here in Houston visiting family so when I brought my family here I expected it to be a great time and it's the exact opposite of that. The games here were okay very short lines. But when it comes to everything else feels like an eternity. To order food there's one kid in line then all of a sudden a huge family walks right up to the front of the line and starts ordering a bunch of food while I'm there waiting I'm thinking maybe it will be a short time next thing I know it's been 20 min then I ask the worker if they can open up a new register as the line increases he says they can't because most of his co workers just went on break then 15 min go by and still nothing. After it was my turn which I only wanted to grab a soda he then says they don't have any ice anymore so I just bought a bottled Pepsi that didn't even feel that cold which was super annoying. Then when we were done we entered the bowling area hoping it was gonna be a lot better. We entered here about 630pm ish we needed two lanes for our 11 member family (6 people per lane) even though to put your name on the play screen says 8 ppl. So we were told it will be an hour wait which seemed understandable but when an hour passed we went back and were told it will be another hour and our lanes would be now separated so we decided it's going to be too long since we have kids in our group so we sacrificed some adults and just played one lane. 15-20 min go by everything was going fine then our machine wasn't giving the bowling balls back and the timer froze so we had to wait in line since they were under staffed on a Saturday wasted 30 min so they can help us and said they will restart it and when we waited even more time and nothing happened there's no manager on duty and when asked for a refund with receipt in hand they said they are not allowed to give refunds so she only gave us 20 min more and a new lane which was only 45 min after waiting a whole hour. Gladly this new lane didn't have any issues but very frustrating to have to go back and forth and felt like we waited longer then we did have any fun. read more

Absolutely filthy and gross. My daughter had fun regardless so I guess that is worth a star, but we will NEVER be back. My main complaint is how dirty everything was, but also the staff was rude and unfriendly...oh and they do not clean! They talk amongst each other or on their phones. After starting a ride they have even walked completely away leaving them unsupervised and come back a minute or two later. It just felt very dirty, unsafe, and uncomfortable all the way around. I could have taken way more pictures of the uncleanliness but I didn't think to do it at first. After the night was progressing and the more and more I kept seeing how gross it was I went ahead and took a few. I think this is the first time I ever added pictures to a review. I'm seriously surprised this place is still open, especially after reading all the other reviews. I know this couldn't be a fluke... just happened to be a bad night kinda thing. Also I noticed a large sign saying a rollercoaster is coming soon!!! Seriously they don't need that! They need to fix what they have first and CLEAN!!! Anyways if they add a roller coaster now it's just one more thing that they won't maintain and would become unsafe to ride. The place is overpriced especially skating which is $15 per person. You have to sign a waiver to skate which cause a wait to get into the rink. The rink is nicely updated which I give them that but it's dead. Adult night is also dead too which they charge $15 per person too(who's gonna pay $15 to skate??) they should've left the price at $8. When #juicedup hosted adult night and ran the skating rink it was jumping every weekend and CHEAP. Now since they moved on Roller City is just going down hill. read more

I booked a party for my daughter's birthday on Aug. 16, 2019 for October 26, 2019 from 2 pm-5 pm. I booked the megastar package, which was $434.86. That's a lot of money to receive poor customer service. Upon arrival, I was told that I didn't book a party on this date. My guests were told this as well. The manager (Raymond) took me into the office and found my invoice. He stated that my party was booked for Oct. 25, 2019. I insisted that it must have been a clerical error. Raymond said he would get play cards ready for my guests along with my daughter's wristband. Raymond then had someone set up the room we would be using with one table decorated with a purple table cloth and balloons.None of the other tables had decorations. Just plain black table cloths and covered chairs. I was told over the phone when booking this party, that all tables wold be decorated. Once I entered the room, I immediately seen they misspelled my daughter's name. I told the host (Austin) about it and he went to talk to Nichole. I talked to the events coordinator (Nichole Gallagher) about the mishap and requested a partial refund. Nichole stated that it wasn't Funplex's party to refund under any circumstances. Ok, cool, but what can y'all offer. Nichole's response was nothing because she emailed me Thursday, Oct 24 and I didn't respond. Well Nichole, why didn't you call? Nichole replied with there wasn't a phone number listed on the invoice. Again, that has to be a clerical error, because I received TWO phone calls from Funplex in August about my party. Nichole could see I was becoming very frustrated so she said I could keep the room for an extra 30 mins and the wristband with the incorrectly spelled name on. At this point, it is 2:41 pm and the children are getting antsy and want to play. So I let it go. Once I got home, I pulled up my invoice. The invoice is just that, an invoice of total charges due without a breakdown of services nor the service date. The idea of this place is great, but the reality is pretty abhorrent. It smells, the arcade is ridiculously overpriced, and the "prizes" for your tickets look like something you would find at an off-brand dollar store. Haven't tried the food, for it doesn't appeal. The go carts are slow and not very entertaining [5.95/run]. Bowling is 4.50/game + 3 for shoe rental. The quality of the lanes and the bowling balls are sub-par. My kids and I came here because we had a groupon. We were told we had unlimited rides but we could only chose from a kids playground or go carts (the main thing we wanted to do). The go carts were not working today. Then we decided to try the tower. The employee proceeded to tell me that my kids were allowed to ride but that I could not. When I asked why he said there was no way I could fit in the seats. Now mind you- I'm thick- but I'm in no way obese. I'm 5'9 and under 200lbs. I could understand if I were 400 lbs but even then- you don't say that to someone! And especially in front of other people! And there was nothing in the ride rules stating weight restrictions. When I mentioned it to the manager all I got was a very insincere sorry. Aside from that, the place was ok. I wish I could give it half a star. This place is terrible. First, my kid wanted to roller skate. The music was so loud it was intolerable. I went to ask if they could turn it down. The employee rudely stated that I was not the only person in there. A polite, I'm sorry we can't turn down the music, would have sufficed. Instead, I just got attitude. Beside the rude employees (not a single one smiled, everyone looks like they hate their job), the place is old, has a weird smell, and several of their games and rides were out of order. WASTE of money! What a dump! Wouldn't even give it a one if I didn't have to give a star. My kids wanted to go skating, the charged for me even though I was not skating, just to go in. The skates were old and stinky. The rink however was much worse. Holes and cracks in the floor. They even had cones up at one end of the floor were the floor could not be skated on. They went one time around and were done. They wouldn't give me a refund, but they did credit our fun card. If I could give 0 stars I would. We came to bowl as a family and we were moved not once, not twice, but three times because they could not get our spots to work. Then they put someone on a spot we were at before and it magically works.... we kept having to go up and ask for assistance and they were half ass helping us. We waited over an hour to bowl and they still could not get anything to work for seemingly only us! We watched as others went to ask for assistance and their issues were fixed immediately! In return we got only one hour of pool time... then as we left the man working the register said we were rude to him. Your customer service is awful here. You should be ashamed to promote this kind of service. Also as we waited I watched your staff members running around and playing with each other rather than helping us. Really fun spot with amazing customer service. Having my event cancelled last minute at another venue-- the event staff at funplex did an amazing job at accommodating my company function last minute for such a reasonable price!! I never even knew funplex has rental halls. Funplex has so much to offer and I am so grateful for miss Tashy and the event coordinators who made my event possible and memorable. read more

I don't know what all the negative reviews are about. The place looks updated and cool. I took my 5 year old and he had a blast. It was early in the day on a Saturday and there weren't a lot of people. We didn't try the cafeteria, so can't comment about the food. They have fun games for all ages (arcade games, bumper cars, etc..) so wasn't disappointed. I tried to go here with my son last night and even though the hours are listed on their website as being open until 11 pm, I wanted to make sure before I drove across town (it is at least a 20 to 25 minute drive) or got my autistic son's hopes up, so I called them to confirm. I called several times but was unable to get anyone to answer (this was around 10 pm). Furthermore, the option on the outgoing voicemail menu for "hours of operation" was non-functional, ditto for "guest services". The website says they are under new management but I see no indication of anyone being in charge there. We were told upon arrival that they were closing at 10:30 tonight, but the person at the window where you buy a game card sold me one anyway (at that time it was still 5 minutes from 10:30 and I thought we could play a game or at least go on one ferris wheel ride then eat since the girl said the restaurant was open until midnight). After buying a $50 card, we discovered that all the games had been shut off and so was the ferris wheel. So we walked down to the restaurant and were told they stopped serving food at 10:30. It should come as no surprise by now that there is NO "contact us" option on their website. Boo! I call this the "No Fun-Plex". read more

The price rate was fair, and they have numerous weights of bowling balls to choose from, so my little sister was able to use them properly. THIS PLACE SUCKED! Ok first things first... bring sanitation wipes. this place was filthy. we decided to go on a last second notice driving from south houston to get the kids indoors where there was somethin for every one. arrived. Place is huge! We walked in, there was a group of people around the front door some girl was being carried out by an ambulance. The manager waltzing around and arguing with the guests' mother. walked in the main door and asked for tickets in. This place is confusing. We paid 24.00 for our sons admission and that gave us tickets in. We had to pay extra for our skating as well. It came to about 44.00 with tax. We go to the skating place, its moderately full and GHETTO. Music is too loud and there is water buckets on the main skating floor. ( I will come back to this). The only skates they offered were potato skins. the toddler skates were all torn and tattered. My son had to change four pairs of skates because the velcro never fastened correctly. and even one time, the kid was in such a hurry to get to his cell phone, he gave two skates of different size! best part of the skating was the kiddie training area, just small enough to get acquainted to the skates. the skating floor was again full of water buckets for rain coming through the ceiling. and had MULTIPLE bumps and inconsitencies in the textures making it a hard skating surface and very dangerous. so we left that section. we moved onto the play area. we walked in there and signed my son in. for fathers who are always curious children at heart wanting to follow their kids around to check for safety, no dice. They are very strict on this stuff. twice before my son got on the play scape, two kids were hurt. there is a rope ladder walkway leading up to the playhouse in the middle of the room, full of holes and inconsistencies that any kid can fall into and harm themselves. one girl fell through the makeshift moonwalk and cut her leg open. the kid overseeing the section took tables and chairs and blocked off the play scapes inside the crawl tunnels. the place doesn't have the slides covered underneath, my son crawled under one, caught the back of his shirt and scraped his back badly. Next, the place STUNK of puke all over especially in the top of the slides, which are so worn down, you cannot slide down and can get easily stuck on. last, there was water on the steps from the ceiling leaking from the rain. So we went out to the foyer area where there was a ferris wheel. It seemed to be nice enough, old style three seater kind. We never saw the go carts or rode the bumper cars. My daughter and I ordered a funnel cake and gatorade. The funnel cake was old, reheated (right in front of my eyes.) and too chewy. So we decided to go to the bowling alley on the far end of the building, ok, they did a renovation in here, but where? I noticed the chairs and lanes were up to date. the balls were all old and seemed like they had been around since bowling was invented. We actually had some decent service in here. The kid at the counter was very knowledgeable and respectful. He smiled! The only person who had the whole time we were there. The bowling is timed here for an hour of bowling time. they have bumper lanes which are nice. And there wasn't a wait for them either. So we ordered our dinner at the refreshment counter. They had one copy of the menu, the cc machine was down and the food was OVER COOKED. I like a good charred hot dog as anyone else, but not in public. this thing was torched. I wanted chicken wings but they didn't have them. I remember thinking when the cook nodded to me through the window, my three year olds math skills are better than your cooking pal. asked for no onions on the burger, guess what... yep you guessed it. ok I have to say this though, there was a guy I guess he was a manager, he was wearing an orange shirt and trying to count cash at the drawer. He was so rude to the young man behind the counter working for him. Im sorry but if you cannot be nice to your employees in front of me, you do not earn my respect! they had bud light and michelob ultra on tap. some liqours were on the wall. the best part was the bowling. the lanes were even and easy to bowl. kind of narrow but nice. so to sum it up. this place was horrible. the staff didn't even want to be there. No one smiled, it was ran by a bunch of kids who wanted to play on their phone more than help clean the joint. there are no package rates offering all attractions to the common visitor. I had to wait on everything with my family here. No smiles, so welcomes. The staff were not clean. I dont even think I went to the bathroom here, too scared I guess... My wife says she remembers coming here 20 years ago and it being a nice place. I could see the potential. I really could. but for now, its just horrible... read more
