First of all, where did you guys come from? I've been through Regency Mall four times in the last month and I've never seen them. TFCQ definitely has the best store front IMO. It's bursting with personality, bright colors and smiling faces. I had the pleasure of meeting Ashley, one of the owners. Her wife is the Puerto Rican inspiration of the team/menu and she is the southern staple, the funnel cake. There's no prices on the menu (that always makes me nervous lol). I ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake Funnel Cake, it comes with powdered sugar, cheese cake bites, fresh strawberries, strawberry drizzle, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. I also ordered a side of sweet plantains, rice/black beans totaling $27.35 and at first I was like......"daaaaaaamn" (as I dropped a tip in the jar). . . . BUT . . . My first bite alleviated the cost and took me back to when I had my first elephant ear as a kid on the west coast. Amazing isn't giving them enough credit, this is a memory I won't forget. The plantains were soft, and perfectly cooked and the amount of rice and beans was enough for two meals easily. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu because I can get dinner and dessert in one stop! I support you guys and appreciate how each customer was greeted and treated the same way. Do you have a sweet tooth? If so- this is a dream come true! It is insanely good- mind blowing combinations. The funnel cake sundaes combine the best of ice cream lovers with state fair food! Then the toppings! I was introduced to Funnel Cake Queen thanks to Yelp- I got to have a funnel cake sundae for FREE!!! And 2 days later- I went back to try another! Don't judge me! I love baked goods more than ice cream, or ice cream complimenting something else- like pie. So a funnel cake with ice cream is perfect for me! Gives me the "cake" body with ice cream too! I tried the Big Banana Split with the ice cream on the side- whoa! 2 desserts- a funnel cake in all it's powdered sugar goodness and a banana split too! There was so much dessert I was stuffed and in a sugar haze when I left! John got the Chocolate Lovers the first time- with ice cream on the funnel cake- chocolate ice cream with mini-m&m's & a mound of whipped cream. He too- sugar coma. Then on the return I went with the caramel apple and got it on the funnel cake this time and John went with the Oreo Crush with ice cream on the side. Breakdown- ice cream on the cake- great crash of flavors and textures, but if you don't eat quickly enough- the melting ice cream will make the cake soggy. On the side- it's not the eye candy of seeing the almost artistic creation of the funnel cake sundae, but- you can enjoy both on their own or still eat them together without the sogginess. One of the best things about going to the fair is eating FUNNEL CAKE!!! With this dessert spot you don't have to wait for the fair to come around to get your fix.... So many great options available to chose from. I went with the strawberry cheesecake funnel cake that comes with ice cream, strawberries, cheesecake bites, and whip cream, absolutely delicious!!! You can even make your own, I don't know if I am that brave... I may put the wrong combination together. Pleasantly surprised with all the funnel cake options and the fact that there were different sizes available (large and small). Initially, I was torn between Strawberry Banana Bliss and Banana Nut Rush then my eyeballs focused on the Reese's Lovers Classic which is topped with ice cream, whipped cream, chopped Reese's cups, Reese's pieces, peanut butter and chocolate drizzles. The Caramel Apple looks like it'd be a good pick too. The small is very generously sized and can even be considered shareable but let's face it, you may not want to. They do not skimp on the toppings. Let's just say my Reese's Lovers pick was worth all the calories. The attendant at the counter was super welcoming as he took my order. Nowadays you may not always get that level of friendly service but that's definitely not the case at Funnel Cake Queen. Friendly service **with a smile** from start to finish. Not your average funnel cake spot. To begin, I was a little skeptical of eating here only because funnel cakes tend to be made without much effort but this place didn't disappoint. I ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake funnel cake and my girl ordered the brownie funnel cake. They were both outstanding. Both funnel cakes were light, crispy, and a hint of sweet. The strawberry syrup and the FRESH strawberries on top sealed the deal with this one.. oh also the small bites of cheesecake thrown in there too?... done deal. 10/10. The brownie funnel cake was not overbearing. Again, the funnel cakes were made to perfection and the chocolate syrup and pieces of brownie on the top w/the ice cream just made this a 10/10 desert choice. The biggest takeaway was I didn't feel slowed down or "fluffy" after eating this. We all hate that "I can't move or I shouldn't have eaten that" feeling when indulging in these types of meals but these funnel cakes left me with a smile on my face -- that's it. Oh my goodness. Did I just die, go heaven, and come back to life? Yup. Definitely did. Funnel cake queen was THAT GOOD. As someone who is 8 months pregnant this may have been the best thing I've eaten all pregnancy!! I've been to the Regency Mall area quite a bit to go to the movies however I'd never been inside the mall/to the food court. I was pleasantly surprised how busy it was I opted for the Reese's lover funnel cake and it did not disappoint. I got the small size and it was anything but small! It was fresh out of the fryer and topped with decadent caramel and chocolate drizzles as well as Reese's pieces and and chopped Reese's peanut butter cups. In addition there was a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. The heat put off by the fresh funnel cake makes for a delicious melt in your mouth experience as the chocolate and peanut butter flavors all melt together I also picked up a caramel apple funnel cake to go for my husband which he enjoyed just as much as I enjoyed mine. Today was my first time visiting this establishment. I had heard so many great things about this place and wanted to try it for myself. I will say the food was good but the customer service was the worst. The young lady that took my order was very inpatient and even took her pen and slammed it down on the counter and begin to say to the other worker this is the stuff I'm talking about, when I was trying to decide on the size I wanted. Once the second worker prepared my food and placed it on the counter to be bagged up the rude worker looked at it and begin doing something else. Not being out of for the beginning of a handful of new trucks making their debut in Jax. I was at the truck rally today and another truckie friend of mine said I needed to try them. So i wondered up to them and the young lady at the window was quite pleasant. I ordered a funnel cake with loads of chocolate and walked around the truck. I always go into the back to see what's up. I think they should tone down on the syrup because the funnel cake was drenched with it and took away from the funnel cake itself. I went all the way downtown to find this truck! And just let me tell you it was worth the trip!! The ladies are soooo VERY pleasant! The funnel cake was fresh! Grease was not old at all! One of the best I have had in many years! The prices are very reasonable the funnel cakes are not small at all..... These ladies put carnival and Disney funnel cakes to shame!
