Ramen station - diy

Yes! An ode to the infamous funky Buddha lounge. IYKYK. Has a little bit of everything for everyone. Ramen, bubble tea, ALCOHOLIC boba, arcade, pop ups, etc. it was busy when we walked in. Daughter got a non-alcoholic boba drink. She enjoyed it and said the boba was made perfectly. Spent some time playing the arcade claw machines and checked out their ramen station. Will have to try that next! Friendly service and quick service.

Awesome place!!! Whole Family had a great time! Everyone had a blast. Thank you Christian for the unforgettable time!!

I went to funky boba with my daughter on Thursday after school. They just recently opened and it is nice inside. They have a whole room of claw machines, a pool table and a couple karaoke machine areas. The staff was very friendly and nice. The menu has a variety of flavor choices. I got the seasonal special which was a frozen Apple cider boba drink with pieces of Apple cider donut in it. It was delicious. My daughter got the frozen hot cocoa boba drink. She also loved hers. Something fun we enjoyed was taking a picture and posting it on there wall. What a fun idea. We look forward to coming back and trying something new. And we can't wait to look for our picture on the wall.

After dining at Nomu Ramen and Izakaya in Glenview numerous times, we've found that this Japanese…read morerestaurant consistently serves well-prepared and flavorful meals. It has become our go-to spot when we want a simple, relaxing meal featuring comfort food, or just a nice bowl of ramen. Our favorite dishes include: Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen ($15.99) -- This comes with three rectangular slices of chashu that are nicely lean, with just enough fat to add flavor. The half-boiled egg was cooked to perfection, the noodles had an ideal texture, and the broth was rich and flavorful. The portion was just right for me. Unagidon ($20.99) -- Fluffy sushi rice topped with fillets of eel glazed in a sweet soy-based sauce, served with miso soup. The bowl is full of flavor and very satisfying. The portion is perfect for me as well. Fried Mini Octopus ($10.99) -- We love the crispy, delicious mini octopus. It's a great appetizer to share. On our most recent visit, my husband ordered the Nabeyaki Udon ($17.99), which was topped with shrimp tempura, fish cake, tempura flakes, half an egg, and scallions. The bowl was tasty, but when comparing it with a similar dish at another Japanese restaurant in Northbrook at the same price, we found the portion at Nomu a little less generous. The other restaurant included an additional tempura shrimp and many chicken pieces, while Nomu's version did not include chicken. Because of that, my husband will probably stick with their ramen rather than order the Nabeyaki Udon again. All in all, we really enjoy our meals at Nomu Ramen and Izakaya. With friendly and attentive service, clean and comfortable seating, and a convenient location close to home, we'll definitely keep coming back! 4.5 rounded up to 5 stars.

The dining room is really pretty, and well-appointed! We were seated right away by friendly staff. Looking around, this appeared to be a very family-friendly establishment, as that was, by far, the most prominent type of connoisseur in the house on this evening! Our waitress was wonderful, and helped us with some recommendations upon us letting her know it was our first visit! She checked in with us frequently, and made sure drinks were always refilled promptly! We had a bunch of different items, and all were very good! We tried sushi rolls, beef noodles, and ramen. I'd have to say that the beef noodles probably were the best item for me! Prices were just about as you'd expect: not too high, but not super cheap either...but wholly justified by the great food and lovely service and experience! This review is for my first visit to the Wheeling Chicago Ramen location. I have been to their Des…read morePlaines location once. My family and I had been wanting to go to this location for a while and a recent weeknight presented a perfect opportunity to check out this establishment. Located in a small plaza in front of the Westin hotel, this Chicago Ramen is a nice little spot for grabbing a delicious bowl (or two) of ramen. Upon our arrival, we were seated promptly. Our friendly server provided the menus and shortly after was ready to take our order; however, we were not ready yet and took a bit longer to order. The menu was a condensed version of what I have seen at the Des Plaines location. There were six Ramen options, a handful of appetizers, extra toppings options, and beverage options. Also, there was a Ramen special menu and a Kids menu. A few minutes later, we placed our order of 1) Edamame, 1) Karage, 2) Shrimp Wonton Ramen, and 1) White Miso Ramen. The apps of Edamame and Karage came out soon and the ramen bowls followed shortly. The Karage were freshly cooked. The Karage were chunky, meaty and plump chicken nuggets. The meat was juicy and tender, and they were lightly battered. The flavor was decent and the texture was okay. I felt that a bit more frying would have helped it taste better. My Shrimp Wonton Ramen was the start dish for me. It was everything I wanted as far as the flavor of the broth and the texture of the noodles, shrimp, and wonton were concerned. The broth was hot and fresh. It had a nice savory flavor and I added some of the table side condiments for extra umami and spicy taste. The noodles were of the right texture where they had body and good slurp-a-bility factor without being soggy and sloppy. The White Miso Ramen was a nice creamy and rich broth that came loaded w/ cuts of pork that were tender. It was also delicious. I enjoyed my bowl of ramen a lot and managed to finish it instead of having leftovers. It hit the spot perfectly. We had a good experience and would go back. If you haven't been to this spot, then definitely check them out.

However, it has been our go-to place for ramen takeout for some time now, this review is focused on their takeout ramen. After about two years' time, we have narrowed our preferences to the Red Miso Ramen with Egg and the White Miso Ramen with Egg. Both ramen comes with a big piece of Cha-Shu (pork), bamboo shoot, and green onion. The Cha-Shu is very tender and flavorful, and the egg cooked just right. The ramen noodles are bouncy with the right texture. When it comes to broth, the White Miso Ramen is definitely a winner over the Red Miso. I found the broth of the Red Miso a little too thick and there is a taste that makes it less pleasant than the other. There is ground pork in the broth of the White Miso, which adds flavor and complexity to the texture. Portions used to be very big, and I used to have leftovers. However, recently portions have shrunk and I could finish the entire bowl of White Miso Ramen with Egg in one meal with no problems. It would not be enough to feed someone with a bigger appetite than me. They had made a couple of mistakes in our takeout orders a year ago. Since then, they have been accurate with the orders and timing has also improved. I am pleased to have Chicago Ramen in our neighbor town, and a bowl of tasty ramen is so close by. I just saw that they have added Shrimp Wonton Ramen (and two other items) to their menu recently. Next time I might give that a try.

We normally go to Ramen Misoya or Chicago Ramen, both great options with vegan and "halal" options…read more I saw this on some Chicago Halal Foodies reel and decided want in. I got take out and everything was well packaged and remained hot after it got to it's final destination about 1h away. My partner is vegan and enjoyed the vegan option. It wasn't anything fancy however most places slap vegan after taking things out and you pay the same price. This place more or less built the ramen with vegans in mind and so the ebb and flow of the ingredients worked out to be a delicious ramen dish. I had the spicy halal ramen, it was also delicious. We also got two halal chicken ramens which, you guessed it, was delicious. The broth wasn't as thick as ramen misoya or as light as chicago ramen. It was in between but actually really good and not as salty. We also got the spring rolls, sesame balls, and agedashu tofu which tasted well. The spring rolls and tofu weren't as crispy but it was a long trip so not on them. I could've sped, but I was getting great mileage. They still tasted great. Now this place also has Chinese dishes which makes it a great option when in the mood for various Asian cuisine and going to one shop. I forget the name of another joint in Chicago on the west side that does the same but it has all the things and it's great but that's an even further. Regardless everything we had was enjoyable and the halal chicken tasted significantly better than Ramen Misoya. It was seasoned very well. At Ramen Misoya, it's not "zabiha" but it's considered halal. I'll try to explain it as best and fast as I can. In Islam halal/haram means permissible/impermissible. Halal in terms of food mainly applies to fauna (i.e. animals, fish, insects, etc). For example corn, pineapple, bread, strawberries are exempt and are thus always halal. Zabiha is the term which means the animal was sacrificed, while being thankful for it, and a process was followed to ensure minimal pain and suffering and it was cleaned, prepped, etc properly. Basically to be thankful for what you have since you're benefiting from something living / cognizant and not just being flippant because it's livestock. Now for some animals in order for them to be edible, it has to be permissible (i.e. halal), as such it has to be Zabiha. However there are schools of thought where so long as the food you are about to receive and or consume isn't haram (i.e. pork) and it was given with pure intention, you can say "Bismillah" and enjoy your dish. Zabiha and halal are often conflated but I hope this explains why.

But the whole market looks awesome, very Japanese style setups for each restaurant. One thing for sure, with that many options it was hard to choose, but my mind was set for ramen so Santouka was the winner. Staff was quick. No messing around. Order, pay, food comes out pretty fast. I got the large Toroniku Spicy Miso. The toroniku (pork cheek) comes on the side. The pork was crazy good. Super tender, almost too soft honestly, it just melted the second I took a bite of it. The broth was the star though. Really rich miso flavor, deep and savory. Slightly salty in a good way, but balanced. I expected it to be spicy because of the name, but it wasn't really spicy at all, more like a warm miso punch. The noodles were soft with a little chew to them, which I like. And the broth sticks to them pretty well. Honestly just really good ramen. Simple as that.

My husband had heard good things and I am always up for anything. Four of us shared two ramen bowls and a Shiyake Ikura Gohan (salmon, rice and roe). Everything was very tasty. Service was fine, it took quite a while for our food to be ready but we found a table and did some people watching while we waited. Tables are usually filled on the weekends... not everyone cleans up after themselves, which makes the dining area look messy. Sometimes, a table will be empty but dirty causing a little bit of confusion if it is available or not.
