My experience with Fungs Jewelry has been excellent at outset. I first stumbled upon Fungs when starting my search for an engagement ring on the infamous "jewelers row" (Wabash Street) in Chicago. My first impression of Fungs was that they had an ample amount of diamonds on hand, provided topnotch personable service, and had an abundant selection of jewelry. Impressed but undeterred, I decided to shop and compare prices at competitors along Wabash, but soon found myself returning to Fungs to make my purchase. Asides from competitors charging exorbitant prices, the service and sales representatives impressed as glib and uncaring. Fungs, which is a family run business, genuinely cares about their customers and appears to place value on building rapport with consumers to better meet their needs and desires. There was no "high-pressure" sales environment which one might find at other stores, and Jane (one of the daughters) was jovial, understanding, and polite throughout the whole process.
My fiancee was dazzled with her engagement ring, and continues to ogle her ring regularly. Given my warm and pleasant experience with Fung's, in addition to my fiance's admiration of her ring quality, we decided to purchase wedding bands through Fung's. This time, the search was significantly circumscribed, as we did not want to hassle with other competitors and knew we were making a good choice by sticking with Fung's.
Fungs was very accommodating in locating the "perfect" wedding band. Jane spent time showing and reshowing us their collection, so my wife-to-be find the exact band she wanted, rather than settle. As Fung's did not have what I sought in stock, they ordered my band, which arrived quickly. I should note the ring I ordered wasn't what I expected, but Fung's was considerate and reordered a new ring, at no cost. I was more than pleased.
I would like to note that the staff at Fung's is exceptionally bubbly when compared to competitors personnel. Jane and her mother readily greeted passerby with a genuine smile and asked if they need help. Also, as another reviewer and I mentioned, Jane is willing to meet and understand what a consumer is looking for, and works hard to appease their wishes.
Lastly, to the person rating Fungs as 1-star...this store, and any other shop you visit, is a business with its own business practices. Why should you low-rank a store, just because they charge extra to accept American Express? As a professional myself, I know that many retailers do not accept American Express for the outrageous charges they charge retail outlets. You mention nothing about using another form of payment (cash, VISA, MasterCard, etc.), yet give them such a poor rating that is neither justified or deserved. You clearly were satisfied with their products, as you imply you were ready to pay ("wanted to use my American Express card...") for goods. I do not consider your rank as an accurate portrayal of this fine jewelry store, and urge readers to visit Fung's Jewelry for an exceptional diamond/jewerly shopping experience. read more
