We had our son's birthday party there. There was an unnecessary long line all the way to the parking lot. Then we had an issue with our host. She only came to our table twice. No plates, no cups, and she had an attitude when we asked for them. The staff is always rude. They only care about money and the service is horrible. Will never come here again. read more

Love this place from the Cheap Tuesday deals to the Sat night BYOB nights. That's right I said BYOB at a skate rink. The kids and I always have so much fun when we go. Tuesdays is family night and that means dollar admission and $1 pizza and sodas. It gets packed but come on who doesn't like a great crowd and family friendly music. I highly enjoy the people and staff they are fun and love to skate with the kiddos. So it brings us back to BYOB Saturday nights. BYOB but no glass and no kegs. It was a little low in attendance but we got our 80's fix and weren't in a mood where we would feel embarrassed of us singing and dancing. Great alternative to a club because lets be honest at a skate rink on a weekend night you feel like a kid again. read more

I wouldn't say Funtime (Funcity?) is in League City--its in Webster. I've been bringing my kids here for a few years now and have had birthday parties here, too. They have a smooth, new wood floor as well as a rockband/guitar hero area, concession stand (with a lot of options) a ticket trade in for toys area where you can use money or tickets (some as little as .25 or 25 tickets) and a lot of games including air hockey, and a moonwalk area with an obstacle course and a regular moonwalk. They are pretty expensive on the weekends ($10) but on Tuesdays you can get in for $2 from 6-10 pm for christian music night. They run specials other nights as well. You can rent old fashioned out of line skates or inline skates or even buy some from the toy shop area. There is plenty of seating for Moms and Dads and a lot of clear carpet space for new skaters to practice and learn. they always block off a section of rink for new skaters and their shoed parents. Its located at Texas& Bay Area Blvd near a Taco Cabana and behind the Salad Express shopping center (a landmark in my world). This is a great airconditioned place to take kids in the summer to get them moving and teach them how to be old school=) read more

This place sucks, the front counter employees are extremely rude! I walked in for the first time ever being there and as each of my friends went through I wait for my turn and the front desk lady told me about there dress code. I was wearing a "tight tank top" and was not allowed to show my stomach or shoulders. Which I would've be fine with if she would've politely told me to go get another shirt or something( just to remind you it was 96° outside today) Her suggestion was to go to the Walmart to buy a new shirt, HA! Then, I'm assuming the manager or owner, continues to lecture me on "how wearing clothing like this sets a bad example for the children" Like lady it's Texas I'm not going to be in a full length shirt and pants. And as this altercation was happening she proceeded to kick out two more groups of people due to there clothing. After I ended up borrowing a flannel from a friend and was "allowed in" I just want to say that I can't control what other peoples children see and I truly do not understand having a dress code like this at a public place, it's not like it's some fancy restaurant. I will never come back, I know some way better rinks with better customer service! And they obviously don't care about running customers away. read more

If I could give this place zero starts I would! We booked the place for a private birthday party. When we arrived for our party, no one was there and the place was closed. The Music is great and the floor is clean. Other than that it's a little pricey and beware that if you have a Groupon it has to be purchased 24 hours ahead of time or they don't honor it. The pizza was ok but over priced and I had an issue with being charged for wings and a drink but being told there was no drink included then being told that they couldn't make the wings because the fryer was down. Fun place reminds me of when I was a kid I guess somethings never change. Skating wasn't as easy as I remember it i definitely have some bruises to prove it. All in all it was a good time the prices were very reasonable the staff was welcoming and helpful the referees tried to give me some pointers to get me going but I think I was a lost cause. We have been here many times between the birthday parties, summer play-dates, and school field trips. We were there yesterday for a child's 8th birthday party and it was nice in that they rented out the entire rink giving the kids room to actually skate and move around. I was in the midst of considering the same set up for my own child in a few weeks when another mom came to tell me the guy running the laser tag had locked our eight year old girls in a separate room in the laser tag area, turned the music up, and showed them some sort of violent video. Now, I didn't see the video so I have no idea what the content was but when one of the girls asked to be let out of the room the guy got in her face and yelled at her. They finally come out because it's cake time and the girls are crying. Yay! Party time! The same guy told my ten year old son his hair was greasy and he needed to wash it. We both got a good laugh about that the rest of the day and now it is an inside joke between us because this is my child who spends his own money on those ungodly Axe products and bathes twice a day BUT he did not ask that guy's opinion of his hair so why in the world did he feel the need to say something? My son also enjoyed telling me the bad words the guy was saying in the laser tag area. I know another mother complained to someone about the laser tag issue and I was going to as well but, to be quite honest, I could not figure out who was in charge there and also my kids were eager to leave and when we did leave, there the guy was in the parking lot telling my kids to act right with the big blow up hammers sold to them by the people at the rink. Sorry Skating Rink Dude, but I get to parent them. Ya'll sell big blow up hammers. Did you expect them to hammer nails with them? Come on. I have nixed the idea of a private party in the near future solely based on that one employee's behavior. If you are considering it, I would just avoid the laser tag altogether. The skating and the food and the small arcade area were fine. I remember going to the skating rink when I was a child and those are some great memories but I also remember the guys there were also not as cool as they thought they were. Maybe it's a requirement to work at a rink? Who knows? In any case, if you don't like children maybe you shouldn't get a job working where there will be children. At least don't work a kid's birthday party. read more

For my 8th birthday I had a roller-skating party at a midwestern roller rink. there was pizza, and a dj, and the chicken dance. for my 29th birthday, I had a roller-skating party at Funcity Sk8. there was booze, a dj, and the chicken dance (by special request). This place is awesome. we only go on Saturdays from 9pm-12a, because this is adult skate! it is BYOB and people frequent in 80's and 90's garb. you can bring in anything that isn't glass or a keg, for no additional charge! $10 gets you in and gets you skates or blades. you can plop down your booze in a cooler at a table to call dibs! the dj takes request, and the concession stand is open just in case you can't live without nostalgic roller skating rink pizza. they've got it. legs tired? confidence shot? check out their arcade area! They've got a lot of great arcade games. They also have other 'theme' nights, tuesday is $1 night, they have 'lock-ins' for the kids some weekends, and more. they have all of the specials listed on their website! read more

Just came from a birthday party at this skating rink and I will not ever return. They don't provide everything advertised in their party packages and still expect compensation for full services rendered. The party was supposed a personal party host and there wasn't a single party host there one party host for five parties. The birthday girl didn't get her personal played, there was no hokey pokey or limbo for party goers, and when it was time to cut the cake the facility didn't have a knife available. Also, there were no skate trainers available for my daughter that doesn't skate well and you can't go on the floor without skates to help your child. Very disappointed in this rink and we will never go back. When you have teenagers running a business this is what you get. If you're looking for a skate party for your child or a fun night of skating this is not the place. read more

After several days of deciding where to have my daughters birthday party, we decided to give this place a try. Before we booked her party, we called to make sure they could accommodate young skaters (5yo-8yo). We were told they had skatemates which assisted young skaters while on the skating floor. With that detail in mind, we decided to give it a shot. When we arrived, we were approximately 20 minutes early. It took almost 35-40 minutes just to enter the place, which obviously ran into our party time. We finally made it in and found our table. Our table was dirty still so we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for them to decide who was going to clean it up. At that time I asked our hostess if we were going to be compensated for the time we had lost which only seemed right and fair. She stated that she would ask but that is why they requested us to show up early because of the wait. That didn't sit well with me. I asked to speak with a manager. 14 minutes later a young male individual who smelled heavily of marijuana (It was marijuana. I used to be an officer, I know what it smells like), made his way over. I asked him about the compensation. He stated they would not be able to do so considering they had parties after us. I also asked about the skatemates and where they located. He told me they didn't bring them out that day because it was a liability having so many on the skating floor. At that point I simply smiled and walked away. I will N E V E R visit this place again and I will dedicate time into warning others of this non-kid friendly, unreasonable, and falsely ran establishment. Not to mention the "manager" that was clearly under the influence of an illegal substance. read more

Funcity Sk8 is disappointing. Went there for a Birthday Party yesterday and it was very unorganized. When first walking in, there was a 15 minute wait just to walk into the door. There was only 1 teenager working the front and she was working 2 different windows. When we were finally able to get in, we weren't greeted or taken to our area by a hostess. We never had a hostess. One of the teens came and put pizza on the table with drinks but NEVER told us that it was time to eat. The kids were everywhere and the pizza was getting cold. Also with the cake, nobody came and told us that it was "cake time". When we asked for a knife to cut the cake, she directed the "Mom" to the container where the PLASTIC KNIVES were..... PLASTIC?! What kind of establishment that host birthday parties don't have knives to CUT THE CAKE?! Since I made the cake, that was the most frustrating part. Also, Funcity Sk8 didn't have "helpers" for the younger kids to use to help them skate in the rink. They only provided the kids skates that go over their shoes and I had to leave them some type of collateral to rent the skates..... Those Sucked! My daughter couldn't move in them and she was unhappy. Bottom line is that this place sucked and will never go back again. PEARWOOD SKATE IS FAR BETTER AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OUTSTANDING! read more

I feel that my children are safe and able to experience a little freedom here; it's an affordable place where they can have fun and get some exercise! My children love the cool environment, the excitement of meeting new friends their ages and the challenge of skating as long as they can. BYOB (no glass or kegs) and they let me bring in Nothing Bundt Cakes (for kid's birthday parties, they ask you to order through them or will charge a cutting fee). Very Unprofessional Experience!!! We scheduled our Childcare Center's field trip a month in advance. We were scheduled to attend on this Monday. We received a call from management on the Friday evening before the scheduled field trip indicating that they no longer take parties that are less than 75 people on Mondays because they are loosing money. I explained that we should have been notified earlier so that we would have time to find another field trip and notify our parents. Robin, the manager, indicated that this was the first time checking the schedule and did not know that someone had booked us to come. She did ask if we could come another day. I informed her that this was our scheduled day for field trips and there was not another day we could come. I also explained that since she waited to contact us over a month that the field trip was scheduled, the date should have been honored. She said that they will not change their policy. I ask if I could speak to someone else regarding the situation and the conversation turned ugly. Robin became very aggressive, speaking over me, and then accused me of being rude to her. Only because I asked to speak to someone other than her. She informed me that she is the person that makes all of the decisions and there will be no changes to this policy. I then asked for the corporate information. She stated that she will not give their corporate information and continued to be rude and unprofessional. I continued to inform Robin that I was hanging up the phone and that I will attempt to get the corporate number. She continued to be rude and unprofessional. As I felt this conversation was not being productive, I hung up the phone. I am so disturbed that people in lead positions (representing companies and organizations) are allowed to display poor and unprofessional conduct. read more

This skating rink is awesome! The wood skate floor is very well-maintained. The staff are well-trained and friendly. The place is always clean, including the restrooms. My kids have attended the all-night skate lock-ins and have had a blast! I feel that my kids are safe when when they're at Fun City Sk8. They play a lot of games, like dodgeball, limbo and red light/green light. The kids get to wrap the rink in toilet paper at midnight. Fun City Sk8 has a lot of black lights so my kids think it's cool to wear white or neon colors. We have skated there for over 2 years and can't imagine skating anyplace else in the Houston area! read more

This facility is ran by teenagers..poor customer service, rude and unprofessional management, and under staffed. I reserved a birthday party with them for my 8 yr old and paid for the package that included a hostess and was assured at the time of the reservation the hostess would be with my party the whole time, I would have to do nothing. When we got there I made my guest list and told them anyone extra that comes just add them and we will pay for them. I asked where they had set up the party at and the girl running the main desk (who was also the manager) said its the 2nd section. We walk to where the parties were set up and there was no names to know who's spot was whose. After asking and being told "I don't know by another employee, we began to set up our stuff. Our party host comes and introduces herself and says we were in the wrong section. We then moce our belongings. The party was at 2...i would say 3'o clock our pizza was delivered along with our drinks...then as I wait, ( because in between these time frames our hostess was no where to be found). I was upset because I had been told my hostess would be there tbe entire period. The hostess though, was not to be blamed. They had at least 6 other parties going and 2 girls trying to host them all at the same time...meanwhile expected to run the snack bar. I asked my hostess for 2 extra settings and while I am doing the party with the kids the "manager" comes up in a very ugly tone questioning why i asked for that. 1, very inappropriate time to ask such a question and 2, what does it matter I stated I would pay for it if needed. I asked her who was the manager and she stated..me. I told her i have a few complaints. The manager did not know my exact party package I had and told me it wasnt her fault tbey had laat minute parties added in. What it boiled down to was the fact they were understaffed and did plan accordingly to accommodate the amount of parties they had as well as hostesses needed. Again while at the table qith the kids tbe manager comes to me and says so you are refusing to pay your tab... I told her not the place to do that went to the side and said that is not what i stated.. I said I did not feel i should have to pay for a service not rendered. Among arguing with a teenager who is running the place and not knowing the exact details of my party until after the fact i told her i would pay, I already had payed my $50 deposit but i was not paying for the hostess. I walk back to my party already upset, dissatisfied and missing my childs party...15 min later this manager calls the local police on me stating I was irate, causing a scene and refusing to pay, in which none were true other than the fact I refused to pay for a service I did not receive. Now once again having to be pulled away to now speak to the police..I explained the situation. The police officer wasted time to come up there and tell me it was a civil issue, i was not irate nor causing a disturbance, nor was I refusing to pay. I felt the need to not pay for crappy service. He went back to talk to the manager. My mom at this time went up there to pay for the party so i could go and enjoy what was left of my daughters birthday. After all was said and done the police officer noticed the teenagers unprofessional attitude, eye rolling, and simply unqualified status of management and stated that he appreciated our cooperation. Not only an embarrassing experience but paid full cost for a service that was not rendered as described. Not to mention... There were no skating games only after I had complained did. Things start getting done and by this time the party was over. The owners of this company should be embarassed to have kids running and representing their facility with not a single adult for supervision. As well as making sure that what is described in packages is what you actually get. I will never again go here nor would I refer anyone for this horrible experience and unnecessary drama. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! I took my children to a birthday at this rinky-dink skating rink today. The customer service was awful, and the mother of the birthday girl had to leave the party several times in order to deal with the lack of help from her assigned hostess. When she complained about this to the manager (a rude eyerolling teen), she was told it's not their fault that last minute parties were booked and that they were basically understaffed. This is absolutely not a paying customer's fault! If you cannot accommodate last-minute parties, don't book them! This was an issue that went on for the majority of the party, and the "manager" even called the police! The officer sided with the mother in this instance. She was not being rude or threatening, she was simply asking to get what she paid for, on not to be charged for services she did not receive. It is unreasonable to expect the customer to pay for services not rendered because you did not properly staff your business. The owner of this establishment should be ashamed of the image their employees are presenting. I'll never visit this place again. I will definitely not pay to be treated poorly. We'll be giving our money to Pearwood Skate from now on. They are much more customer conscious. read more

So I've never really felt the need to write a review before however tonight I've experienced the worst service I've ever had. When I was younger I've been and of my memory is correct the service was excellent. However tonight when my nephew had his birthday party here and honestly for the price my sister and parents paid it wasn't worth it. Firstly I am in a electric wheelchair, I had just gotten off of work. There are no handicap parking spots so I had to park in the back which wasn't a big deal but there's nothing but large puddles of water and unleveled road. I get inside tell the woman in the front I'm with the "blank" party and we go inside. Okay, everything good. I go and sit with my mother who had irritatedly informed me that service right off the back was at an okay level. I myself have worked in customer service for 6 years and I have 2 years of restaurant experience. My family is the same and in my personal and professional opinion the service wasn't up to par. In the party planner it states the hot was to do a number of things in which he failed to do. The concession stand was out of order and the sodas came from regular 2 liter bottles and they didn't give us ice. There however was a employee who did his best to make sure we got everything I believe his name was Stephen (sorry if I misspelled your name sweetie). After the pizza came it was time for cake and they didn't offer to help clean the tables, me a hostess, just getting off from work felt the need to assist and started to buss tables. FYI this isn't my job. They don't pay me to clean my own tables, yet I did anyways. I also got a glob of cake all over me while doing this. I watched and waiting a good 20 minutes as the party host / manager possibly 19? I could be wrong, but him and a trainee walked passed my section multiply times and not once did they ask if we needed trash taken away or anything. So once again I cleaned everything up, a employee say me clean and once she saw my table semi clean she finished it for another guest.!!! After a while my frustration subsided and I decided to get on the rink, it took me a good 10 minutes to find the guy to let me in the gate which was broken by the way. It also took them a good 20 minutes to get me back out the rink ! One of the skate attendants got upset that my cousin tried to help me get out?! Seriously?! What are you and your buddy doing besides letting the line grow? I asked the skate attendant "you guys aren't very organized are you?" He stated "uhh no ma'am". My mom left after being frustrated but for what we went through, with them forgetting out things and making me clean my own tables for them to seat other guest, for me getting locked out and in the rink my parents and sister shouldn't of paid the outrageous amount that they did. Not entirely sure if I'll be returning in the future but if you want to have your child's birthday there I strongly as an aunt and customer service / hospitality personal advise you don't. read more

I haven't been skating in almost 20 years but a friend and I wanted to get out and do something different and active. I'm in love with the Saturday night BYOB from 9:30 - 1 for $12. This included skate or blade rental and NO KIDS!!! We weren't too sure of the rules but next time I'll be bringing a cooler so we're well prepared. Don't be fooled thinking it's way too cold when you first walk in. A few laps and I didn't notice it anymore. I started with roller blades but the clasps kept hitting my ankles so I swapped for skates. Much more comfortable but I don't turn as easily in them. It was great to be able to just go back and forth to exchange until I got the fit I wanted. Some of the rentals could have been a little less odoriferous LOL...but I made it okay. You basically trade your shoes in for a rental pair...which is fine since next time I won't need to bring anything in but the booze. The restroom was fairly clean and easily accessible while still wearing roller blades. The music selection was really great with the DJ mixing in old, new, and different genres. The first locker got jammed and took my quarter, but one of the workers gladly came over and gave me back the 50 cents to get another locker. We really enjoyed ourselves and the other guests were all respectable. There was room to skate without feeling boxed in. The more experienced skaters weren't rude at all and I didn't feel intimidated for my wobbly attempts at times. Concession was friendly and helpful when I ordered soda and cups of ice. Only one worker didn't seem too interested at the rental section and kept checking his phone instead of listening as questions were being asked. I definitely plan to go back on Saturdays and can't believe we stayed almost the entire time. read more

We had a blast on our first family skate trip. The only reason I didn't do 5 stars was because there was maybe one decent employee in the entire building. There were a bunch of power trip unprofessional teens and young adults working there. Our kids loved the sectioned off moonwalk area which was a nice place they could play while mom and dad skated. An employee was quick to stop any aggressive horse play between some teenagers in the moonwalk while the smaller kids played. The music selection was way weird but all in all we will return. They also have a small arcade area and prizes. Maybe one day we will host a birthday party here. Good place aside from not a single friendly face in the place, music goes from rap to disco to country without any type of flow and if you dont mind a whistle being blown in you or your kids face for stupid reasons than give this place a try. read more

I have taken my sons here many times. My niece has had back to back birthday parties here. Everyone enjoys themselves. In the past we have found ourselves a tad irritated with the customer service of some of the young staff but other than that no problems. Today I took my sons to skate and decided to bring my satchel bag to wear over my chest so I wouldn't have to carry a purse. We'd been there about 45 minutes when I was told that I couldn't wear it because it was a hazard. Understandably so but I then saw another patron with headphones around his neck and cord hanging down the front of his body. I asked the worker if that would be considered a hazard and he said no because they are headphones. I asked if I just put my satchel around my neck if it would be OK to wear and of course he said no and directed me to the manager. I was looking for a logical answer. The manager then told me that it wasn't the same thing because nobody could come up behind the person with headphones and snatch them/choke them. He didn't consider it a hazard. I needed a logical response. I would have been fine having to place the satchel into a locker for .50¢ but a hazard is a hazard is a hazard. Maybe you should post signs that state what you cannot wear on your person while skating and truly define what a hazard really is. read more
