Went to FSB to purchase a bike for myself and the sales guy there was a condescending A-hole. From the moment we walked in he acted like it was a bother to help us or anyone in the store. After looking around and tryin to get help from him.. we left and went to World of Wheels to purchase not only my $800 bike but bikes for my whole family. They really need to educate their staff on proper customer service. Apparently they don't like negative feedback about how terrible their service is since they try to have all the negative reviews removed. I wouldnt waste time going back in there for a bike, parts, repairs or anything. World of wheels and Havies have a better selection as well as extremely knowledgeable employees. read more

I'm a long time customer of FSB. Got my TREK MADONE there. Got it serviced there several times , professional and prompt service, always with a smile. However today they went ABVE AND BEYOND, by fixing my bike. I broke my water cage bolt trying to tighten it. There was no way that I could extract this bolt. When I brought it to the store John told me they had dealt with similar problem in the past and were able to extract it with "easy-out"tool. However later they informed me that they were not successful:( They even called Trek factory and even Trek refused to deal with that. I was disappointed but understanding, thinking out how to ride with one bottle... Luckily the story had an unexpected continuation! To my surprise, when I came next morning to pick up the bike I found John working on a stuck bolt since early morning hours before the shop was even open! He was so persistent and used different instruments to try to get it out. The bolt was stubborn but John was more persistent. He ended up drilling it out using increasing sizes of drill bits and then tapped a new thread! Three(!) hours later I was wheeling my bike with a new bar tape, new chain, new handlebar bearing and a new bottle cage bolts out of the bike shop! I cannot describe how happy I'm to have a shop they is so genuine, professional, skillful and willing to help. You earned yourself a customer for life! read more

They also ordered and shipped the Pace 500 extended batteries. Excellent customer service, price and all the accessories you could ever want. I was leery that they catered to high level athletes & wouldn't be interested in helping me find a bicycle for my needs. I couldn't have been more wrong! I met with Henry & found him to be delightful & extremely helpful & not condescending at all. No hard sell at all, which I greatly appreciated. He helped me select a bike that was my size, would meet my specified needs, and helped me find everything on the list of items I had prepared in advance. Came here on a Friday evening before closing to have them check my bike's rear tire since I had been experiencing the tire losing air frequently and I had trouble removing the tire. FUN SPORT BIKES gets 5 stars..*****.. I stopped by their new location yesterday afternoon for a new inner tube and basket. It wasn't too busy, so they took care of my bike right away, along with 2 or 3 other bikes. They took their time and meticulous care in tweaking the basket brackets to fit the handlebars, adjust the brakes, and air up the back tire as well as replacing and sliming the inner tube in the front tire. Total = $75 including labor. They also threw in a new white reflector and replaced a few nuts and bolts, etc- for no extra charge. YAY, FREEBIES! :D ! While I was waiting, I enjoyed looking around the store and I had a blast watching some kids try out their tricycles and race around the aisles. WHEEEE! By far the worse in store experience of my life. I was asking a few questions and the bald headed representative named Nick must have thought my questions were unintelligent, he preceded to respond in a rude and condescending manner. This was demeaning and completely unacceptable. Also, my family just purchased a $500 bicycle and they agreed to throw in a pair of riding gloves to sweeten the deal, but after salesman Nick found out he declined the transaction. To go back on a deal is one thing but the overall experience was overwhelming, and it was all due to this one salesman named Nick. Sales people should be kind and cordial no matter the circumstance. Buyer Beware: $1400K Trike Sun Baja Grey s/n g012111458 does not seem to be ergonomically stable and is a safety concerns. We bought the trike for our 10 year old son who has always wanted a trike. He has been riding bicycles since age 3. He road the trike for approximately 30 min after purchase, tipped over, and fell. This incident occurred on a flat, paved path, while he was leisurely riding in the evening. He steered the trike away from a walking pedestrian and fell off the trike during the steering process. The front fork caved inward, making contact with the peddles and rendering the bike un-rideable. When we returned the bike the next day for options, we were denied refund or exchange and only presented with repair alternatives. We also found out later (according to the technicians) that this minor incident completely impacted the left rear axel making the tire misaligned. The owner informed us that in good faith, he could not make a trade, and also assured us that the "misaligned" wheel was a normal adjustment period of breaking in the cycle. He and technicians instructed we take the trike home and ride it a bit more. It was not normal-it was misaligned- and eventually corrected. The 30 day warranty did not touch any repairs though the store helped us cover axel repair due to the unusual circumstances. This experience was intense and traumatic. This review is to alert buyers of safety concerns. The trike warning sticker notes that buyers should be 12 years or older and to not ride over 5mph due to tipping hazard. It does not warn that if one tips over ever, the trike is destroyed. read more

Super shitty service I have taken my bike into them more times in the last 2 months then in the whole year and half I have had it. There super sloppy and shitty in the maintenance area. I have taken my bike to have spokes replaced and the same spikes break again that they fix. I have taken it in for normal maintience and they send it bad dirty and don't even clean in... which is usually standard for bikes shops. Other times I brought it in to fix ta flat and they send the flat home "fixed" but don't say or mention I need more spikes. And they also have really bad customers service ... if there's a extra issue with your bike form them causing it ... they should be held responsible for it and liable not charge you extra on top of what they already fucked up... so J WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOW USEING THERE TWO LOCATIONS IN MODESTO ... I'd avoid it and go to a shop in stockton or else where a little further ... believe me it will be worth it read more

I frequent this bike store because I ride my bike like it's my b!+(#, I ride it hard and I put it away wet. Only reason they don't get 5 stars from me is because while I was working on a fire in the Modoc National Forest this fire year, I asked my girlfriend to get me a front wheel because I bent mine on a ride. I texted her specific instructions and the wheel size. An employee at the store sold her a street tire instead of a new wheel. She drove 6 hours to the fire camp with a street tire instead of a new wheel. The closest bike store to the fire camp was a 160 mile round trip. But hey, maybe it was my fault because I texted her pictures of the tire to show the wheel size. I've always experienced great customer service here especially from the repairs department, but be ready to wait an extended period of time for your bike to get repairs during the busy season-this place is extremely busy and last time I was in good luck getting a new bike-they had everyone's on back order. Large selection of in stock accessories though. For you lazy American's, they have the latest and greatest electric bikes. read more

I'm on the fence about how I feel. We had a great experience when we purchased the 2 adult tricycles. They didn't have both of them there so he pulled from another store. After talking with the owner he offered to deliver them but it wouldn't be until Monday and it was Wednesday night. Now it's Monday afternoon and no one called to schedule a delivery. We had to call and no one knew what was going on. So we have to wait to find out what's going on. I guess we were just forgotten. The owner did deliver our bikes. In the last 3 months I've purchased 2 bikes from this store and while the bikes are excellent, the customer service is poor at best (more so in the shop). Their main bicycle technician is short tempered and always running around like a chicken with his head cut off. I went In for brake pads and didn't bring my old ones, this guy spent 15 minutes on the internet trying to figure it out before he told me he can't help me and there are other customers. I proceeded to leave and opened up google and typed in the model and year of my bike + brake pads and it was the first thing that popped up. Took me all of about 1 minute... after that I went to world of wheels ( which was just as busy) and they had me in and out in about 5 minutes. read more

I haven't made any reviews in awhile, but I think it is just that I have not been super impressed by any place of business recently. That is until I found Fun Sport Bikes. I used to always go to World of Wheels, and they were great and I actually posted a review for them years back. I poked my head into Fun Sports Bikes to look for a part for my son's Big Ripper and when I met the staff, I was blown away! They are so awesome and even remeber my name every time I go in!! I have brought my sons bikes, my bikes and now me and my son go on their group ride on Wednesdays! All of there staff from the front of the store to the back of the store are super knowledgeable and super amazing! I could literally go on and on and tell you how impressed I was with everything at Fun Sports, especially in today's day and age where it seems like customer service has been forgotten. But until you actually go and see for yourself, you will not understand why I love this place so much!! Though I had an offer from the bike manufacturer to save $200 ordering online, I always try to patronize local businesses. This shop gave me no service, no instruction, not even help loading two ebikes, which cost almost $4,000, into a pickup. They didn't even push them to the door. I am 69 years old and I could have used some help. The boxes they gave me with miscellaneous stuff did not even contain any owner's manuals. The salesman said that using the controls was easy and self-explanatory. When I got home I found that they are not. I had to go online to download the manual to figure out how to use the controls So much for shopping locally. read more

My husband and I went to Fun Sport Bikes to look for beach cruisers. We had gone to a couple other bike shops before and none of them had a very good selection of bikes. Fun sport bikes had a great selection of bikes at a range of prices. We were able to trade in our 3 year old mountain bikes, which we rarely used, for store credit. They carry all types of bikes from toddlers to adults. They have all the accessories you could ask for. We'll definitely be back there for bike tune-ups and any other bike needs. read more

In the last year, I have purchased three bikes from Fun Sport, and countless bikes from their sister store, World of Wheels, over the last fifteen years. The mechanics and sales people at both stores are friendly and knowledgeable. Though service isn't always the greatest, they seem to do their best to meet customer demands. Between the two stores they carry most of the top bike brands as well as some lesser known brands in lower price points. Prices are a little high and management isn't very willing to be competitive with bike shops like Mikes Bikes, let alone the internet. If you want a great deal, hit the web, or Mikes Bikes. If you prefer to keep your money in Modesto, Fun Sport, and W.O.W. are good options. read more

I went here to seriously look into purchasing a bike as somewhat of a newbie. I have owned a Trek mountain bike and road bike in the past, but I always has someone help me with the mechanics, etc. Steve Basma was the one helping me, and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He asked me what kind of riding I would be doing and I told him that I was new to it, but I would probably be riding Dry Creek. He took me over to the kind of bikes he recommended, and then walked away giving me time to look on my own or being hounded. I really appreciated that! I don't like pushy salesmen! Once we picked a bike, Steve told me to try the fit and even let me "test drive" in the back parking lot area. It gave me a chance to get a feel for the bike. He probably spent a good hour or so with me, but I didn't buy that day. I told him I wanted to think about it as it was a big purchase. He gave me a printout to compare the two we had been discussing. Again, no pressure to buy. The next day, I decided which bike I wanted to go with and went to make my purchase. Steve also helped me with the essentials that I would need. I got my bike in about a half hour or so. Another guy helped me load it into my car (had to take the front wheel off, but he showed me how to do it), and I was on my way! Everyone I came into contact with at this shop was very helpful! In a novice move, I could not get the front tire and brake system to work properly once I got home, so it was back to the bike shop for help. This time I was introduced to Henry, who was also wonderful! He showed me what I was doing wrong, and then we proceeded to make sure the bike's adjustments were all made (I was in a hurry the first time because I had gone grocery shopping...). Henry had me ride around a little bit to adjust the seat and handlebars. I had so many basic questions, but never did Henry get annoyed with me. He answered them pleasantly and in a way that I understood. I bought a few more things that were necessary for a possible flat, and I was on my way. Needless to say, I will be back here not only because I have free adjustments and a tune-up for the next year, but because of the friendly salespeople I dealt with and the knowledge base that they have to answer even the silliest question I might have.
