I feel bad I forgot his name. We checked in and out within 5 minutes and we were in our car and on our way. Returning was also a breeze. We dropped off the keys and received an email confirmation that all was good. I would definitely rent offsite from the airport because you save a lot from the airport taxes. We probably saved about $40/day in taxes.

We only needed the car for a day and booked ahead of time (highly recommend). They are open from 8-noon. We booked it for 8am and only had one group ahead of us. The desk is right next to the hotel reception/activities desk. The guy gave us the usual rental information then gave us our keys and told us where to find the car. The rental cars are on the top floor of the parking structure across from reception desk. Enterprise parking spots are clearly marked and numbered to find your car. To leave the lot you use your Marriott hotel key (blue band) at the gate. **This is not listed anywhere I could see, but you CAN return the car same day after hours.** It was very easy. When you return to the parking structure you take a ticket and leave it on your dash so they can see when you returned the car. Then park the car in one of the Enterprise spots. Then bring the keys to the Hotel reception employees. The next day I received a text and email when they processed the car. Easy as that! (This was early June 2024. Lines might be longer in the busier seasons. There is only one computer/employee.)

NEVER AGAIN! Our family's experience with the Kihei budget at the airport was so horrible that I…read morecannot stand reliving it to write this review. On every level at every step it was TERRIBLE. 2+ hours in line, incredibly rude and hostile workers, botched spot to pickup the car, car was crap and dirty, dropoff was botched (no email confirmation). It wasted almost 1/2 of our first day on Maui to deal with the car rental, and every moment was frustration. Thankfully none of us have a health problem, as if you are a diabetic or have any need for a bathroom, food, water, etc., you will be SOL while standing in line. You should plan as if you are going on a 3 hour hike - bring, food, water, meds, maybe some sort of light folding chair, a book... etc. INSANE! If you are looking to rent a car in Kihei, DO NOT use Budget. It looks like there is an Enterprise sublot in Kehei, so next time I will uber there and try to avoid any airport rental. Or might even try that private car rental site Turo. Such an unbelievable bad experience!

We shopped around and did things as mindfully and budget friendly as we could. (No pun intended) We renting from budget, when we went to the car, I noticed body damage, including scrapes and scuffs. As it was only superficial we weren't worried. Although I did take a video to document the car's state. Later, at the time we returned the car (washed and vacuumed out to avoid cleaning charges) the attendant pointed out the body damage. I shared my video with the representative and at the time - she said we were good to go. Fast forward a month and a half and a Hawaiian vehicle repair shop is sending us a bill for $2800 to repair damages to the car. I am curious how many times they have billed people for those same repairs. Do not rent from Budget - they are running a scam

On April 9th 2017 my wife and I rented a car from Enterprise through the website during our stay at…read morethe Grand Wailea Resort in Maui. The rental confirmation was for a Nissan Altima or similar. When we arrived at the service desk to pick up our rental, we were greeted by Greg. He told us that he had no cars for us, especially at that price. I told him we had a confirmation and he basically laughed. I asked how they could confirm cars if they don't have them and he blamed corporate, saying that this "is not the airport where they have hundreds of cars." My wife and I had made plans to drive up to Haleakala Summit for the scenic view road. I asked Greg if he knew anywhere else to rent a car from and he offered little help. I asked again if he had any cars for that day and of course he magically remembered that he had a Chevy Corvette convertible. I knew right away that It would be too expensive to rent for a quick drive and I simply asked what the best price he could do was. He said he could do $190 for the day. With insurance and taxes it came to about $260 usd. After thinking about it and realizing that this would be the only time we could go make the drive (Greg said he had no more rental slots for the rest of the week), we said sure and agreed to rent the car. I signed up for insurance and Greg wrote up the paperwork and off we went. This was about 8:37am local time. Greg handed us a yellow envelope with the keys and told us to go to Valet parking desk in front of the Grand Wailea Resort entrance to claim the vehicle. After about 5 minutes of waiting, the Valet parking guys brought the car. There was no inspection offered by anyone and I found it odd but they told they are just drivers and don't work for Enterprise. Anyhow, off we went. We literally drove the car for about 5 hours and returned it around 2:47pm the same. Greg told us when we were done with the car, to just return it to Valet guys once again. After our drive, we returned to the hotel and I told the Valet guys I was doing a return of the rental per Greg's instructions. The Valet just said leave the car there in the very front and he gave me a parking ticket stub. Once again no one inspected the car. I walked inside and Greg was still there at the Enterprise service desk. I informed him that I was bringing the car back early (he told us we had it until midnight). But we were there on a work trip and had dinner at 6pm, so there was no need to keep the car any longer. I gave Greg the Valet parking stub and he said he would take care of it. Again I asked if he was going to inspect it and he said no. Off we went and up to that point we thought that was the end of it. A few days later when we checked out from the Grand Wailea, we got a bill for 3 days of Valet parking for $90 usd. Immediately I knew Greg didn't take care of anything. I called the front desk and explained we had rented a car and gave it back same day. They took the Valet parking charges off my bill right away (Grand Wailea Resort). We flew home and a few days later I got a call from Enterprise on April 15th from Milton (??) Asking if I had done any damage to the front of the car. I immediately called him back told him I absolutely did NOT do damage to this car, he said he would speak to his manager and let me know and I never heard back. This accusation is absolutely false. The car has 3 cameras built in that you can light up to help you to park and to avoid this exact thing from happening. I've owned many sports cars and I am always extremely cautious and aware of how low their front lip and front bumper are, so you I'm always careful when parking or driving. I nicely explained to them that I did not damage the car, I also walked him through my entire drive and my wife is a witness as well. Also, even if I had done any damage, how would he or Greg know? Nobody inspected the car prior to me leaving or returning it. Anyone could've damage the car before or after I drove it. They didn't care and still forwarded me to Enterprise damage claims while falsely accusing me of damaging a car they never inspected. This will not stand. Absolutely horrible experience. I've learned my lesson. I will not rent from them and I will start video taping a full walkthrough before and after. I'm trying to get video footage of the car from the hotel to see if we can see the damage that was already there more than Likely, or done after I rented. The rental times are also off. I did not have the car an entire day. I had it for less than 6 hours total. TL/DR - photograph and video your rental before and after.
