I feel bad I forgot his name. We checked in and out within 5 minutes and we were in our car and on our way. Returning was also a breeze. We dropped off the keys and received an email confirmation that all was good. I would definitely rent offsite from the airport because you save a lot from the airport taxes. We probably saved about $40/day in taxes.

We only needed the car for a day and booked ahead of time (highly recommend). They are open from 8-noon. We booked it for 8am and only had one group ahead of us. The desk is right next to the hotel reception/activities desk. The guy gave us the usual rental information then gave us our keys and told us where to find the car. The rental cars are on the top floor of the parking structure across from reception desk. Enterprise parking spots are clearly marked and numbered to find your car. To leave the lot you use your Marriott hotel key (blue band) at the gate. **This is not listed anywhere I could see, but you CAN return the car same day after hours.** It was very easy. When you return to the parking structure you take a ticket and leave it on your dash so they can see when you returned the car. Then park the car in one of the Enterprise spots. Then bring the keys to the Hotel reception employees. The next day I received a text and email when they processed the car. Easy as that! (This was early June 2024. Lines might be longer in the busier seasons. There is only one computer/employee.)

On every level at every step it was TERRIBLE. 2+ hours in line, incredibly rude and hostile workers, botched spot to pickup the car, car was crap and dirty, dropoff was botched (no email confirmation). It wasted almost 1/2 of our first day on Maui to deal with the car rental, and every moment was frustration. Thankfully none of us have a health problem, as if you are a diabetic or have any need for a bathroom, food, water, etc., you will be SOL while standing in line. You should plan as if you are going on a 3 hour hike - bring, food, water, meds, maybe some sort of light folding chair, a book... etc. INSANE! If you are looking to rent a car in Kihei, DO NOT use Budget. It looks like there is an Enterprise sublot in Kehei, so next time I will uber there and try to avoid any airport rental. Or might even try that private car rental site Turo. Such an unbelievable bad experience!

We shopped around and did things as mindfully and budget friendly as we could. (No pun intended) We renting from budget, when we went to the car, I noticed body damage, including scrapes and scuffs. As it was only superficial we weren't worried. Although I did take a video to document the car's state. Later, at the time we returned the car (washed and vacuumed out to avoid cleaning charges) the attendant pointed out the body damage. I shared my video with the representative and at the time - she said we were good to go. Fast forward a month and a half and a Hawaiian vehicle repair shop is sending us a bill for $2800 to repair damages to the car. I am curious how many times they have billed people for those same repairs. Do not rent from Budget - they are running a scam

The next day I booked online around 2pm and by 3pm I had heard from the girl and was set to meet her at the cart at 3:30 for pick up! So prompt and helpful. Upon arrival some coastal roads were shut down because of a storm and we were not able to take it on the highway so she had me follow her on back roads to get around the construction! I was so thankful for her dedication to setting me up for success. The charger provided is just a regular plus so we were able to plug in right in the Airbnb garage. And we used the cart to go to the gym, grocery stores, Starbucks, the beach, nail appointment, shopping at the plazas, night rides to put babies to sleep, really just everywhere we went this was our top choice over our rented Yukon, really nice stroller and our rented bmw convertible! I honestly think it was the highlight of our entire stay and we are so impressed with the customer service we experienced with pick up and drop off! I had even paid for the delivery and pick up fee because I figured it was required and they refunded me and explained why I could just come grab it! Will be coming back for sure!
