Walked in on a Sunday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the quick turn around for service and food. We got ramen and pork dumplings which were really great. The ramens broth was a bit simple but the noodles and the pork belly were great. I have a shellfish allergy and felt safe with all the food which is a big deal to me. The place was clean and the waitress is the reason for the 5th star. She even put our soup into our to go container!! Parking is a bit annoying with only street parking available and a bit of a walk as a tip.
This place is a great lunch spot! We got the combo chicken broth and noodles with the pork dumplings! The dumplings were delicious and if it's cold outside the ramen will give your soul a warm hug.
Fun Bowl ? more like PEEPING bowl. Long story short because of idiocy ... and probably greed of money. Upon walking in, my boyfriend and I set our things down. I went to the bathroom. Too late, I see neither rolls in the huge toilet paper dispenser. I call my boyfriend, asking him to inform the workers and get some toilet paper so HE can hand it to me, because as mentioned, I was in the bathroom at that moment with no toilet paper. Unbeknownst to me at the time because im in the bathroom ... one employee, who is a woman, then proceeds to rush my boyfriend into ordering. She asks him what I want. He tells her he doesn't even know what I want, because he's waiting to get toilet paper for me. The door knob starts jiggling. I say "babe?" I hear an unintelligible male voice. Assuming it's my boyfriend ... because WHY would someone send a MAN to a woman occupied bathroom ... I waddle to the door and crack it. It's not my boyfriend. It's a man employee. I shut the door, scream "BABE". I hear man and woman employee voices talking to each other. I cannot understand. I then scream my boyfriend's name. He didn't know what was going on because he was so preoccupied with this woman employee trying to rush him to order. My boyfriend then knocks on the door and I make sure he tells before I open it this time. He says they sent him to check on me. As he's there comforting me, I'm STILL sitting in the bathroom with no toilet paper. That's when I yell again, this time at the employees, "WHERES MY F- TOILET PAPER". My boyfriend then gets handed not toilet paper ... napkins. After cleaning myself to the best of my ability with what they gave me ... thinking where is the toilet paper the man shouldve had had it went .... I storm out, my boyfriend behind me. All they could do was stand around and stare. That folks, is how My boyfriend and I spent our mid day on our three year anniversary weekend.
If you love Ramen or anything spicy, you would love this place. The service was amazing. Communication was good.
Cute poke spot with comfortable atmosphere. Hostess was nice and right to the point. Food came out fast. My order was wrong but an honest mistake that they were fast to remake my bowl. I had veg poke bowl add kimchi and the shrimp bowl. Prices are reasonable around $12 each.

They have outdoor seating (just two seats) so yes I could take my doggo to the place! Thats a plus! The servers were really warm and got us soy sauce and seasoning and everything I asked for. Ordered the vegetable ramen , it took around 15 mins. The bowl looks big but its very narrow at the bottom, see picture. The broth was so flavorful, it had a lot of veggies - broccoli, corn, spinach, mushrooms, bok choy, etc and wheat noodles. I wish they had the option of gluten free noodles, but like it anyway!
We've been back several times since our initial visit in 2020. The Ramen soups are always excellent. The portion is the perfect amount for lunch (or dinner). Some say the soups are salty, but we find it to be just fine. We love the appetizers too (vegetable spring rolls and the pork fried dumplings. Today we both had the Fun Bowl Ramen - Homemade noodle, pork broth, green onion, bamboo shoot, woodear mushroom, egg, seaweed. We both ordered an extra half egg. It's my favorite part of the soup - a soft boiled egg with a silky center. The eggs are marinated in soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar, in which gives the eggs a sweet and savory flavor. There are other items on the menu that I have yet to try, such as the poke bowls, spicy crab Rangoon, Mantou bun, and calamari tempura. Ramen is always good on a cold day.
My son recommended this place and I am glad he did. I met him & his girlfriend for supper after doing the Wilmington Walking Tour (Highly recommended), Very good food, quick service. Just yummy! I will be a return customer!
Fun Bowl is amazing!! If you're looking for a quaint spot for Ramen, this is it. The fresh noodles, flavorful broth, & bok choy never disappoints! They also serve good Bubble Tea and dumpling appetizers. Check them out! A warm bow of ramen is great on a cold day.

Not too spicy, just the right amount of kick. So warming and hearty. Egg rolls were phenomenal. Bubble tea was not the best I've ever had, but a great option to have with the bowl of ramen! TRAVEL: ~25mins. Cannot stress how great this take-out experience was! Broth was packaged separate from noodles & toppings so they didn't get soggy. Bubble tea was in the bag, too, & all of it packaged so well that nothing spilled, not even jostled in the car & up two flights of stairs. If you've only ever had packet ramen, get yourself some of the real stuff!

Really liked that they make their own noodles. Portion size is generous. My ramen was good. Service is great, only one person serving but she was very attentive. The place has a few tables like around 10 it's not very big but it's a great place to have ramen noodles. The place filled up quickly around dinner time. read more

I found there was ample seating, comfortable lighting, and a great menu with delicious food. When I came in for dinner, I was seated right away by a nice and attentive server. I ordered the vegetable ramen with an egg and a side of vegetable dumplings. They offer them steamed or fried, and I decided on fried. They are probably better steamed, but they weren't bad, I actually ended up dumping them into my ramen. The ramen itself is topped with a heaping handful of spinach, I love that they went heavy on the vegetables. The broth was flavorful, there was a nice serving of tofu for protein, and the noodles had the perfect texture. 10/10 a nice restaurant for dinner. read more

I wanted poke the other day so we headed here for dinner. We've been by a few times before and it's always pretty good. There was no outdoor seating this time so we were glad we left the dog at home. I got the shrimp poke bowl - you customize it so no complaints! Husband tried the pork ramen and really enjoyed it. We both enjoyed the crab Rangoon as well. read more
We ordered Fun Bowl for dinner recently and it was a great experience like always! We do love going to the restaurant but I'm a pinch it's nice that delivery is an option. I always order the Fun Bowl and it is filled with delicious fresh vegetables and fish. My friend ordered the Ramen and it was also so yummy. One of the best ramens I've had here since moving from California. The ramen broth was so rich, the egg was cooked to perfection and the pork was delicious! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of my spicy ramen bowl due to devouring it before realizing I didn't snap a picture. Please forgive me. This will be our new ramen spot while we live in NC. read more

Tried Fun Bowl on both its ribbon day and official opening day. Fun Bowl is owned by the same Chinese owners as Nikki Sushi. There are indoor 5 medium-large wooden bench tables, 2 small tables that fit 2 people, and some seating by the kitchen. There is no outdoor seating. You place your order at the cashier. On ribbon day they provided samples of the Tonkotsu Ramen and Ahi tuna poke bowl. The Ahi tuna poke bowl was good-the ahi tuna was fresh and the homemade poke dressing sauce was addicting. On their opening day, I tried the Spicy Kimchi Ramen ($11.95). All of the ramen use the same meat-based broth of chicken, pork, as well as vegetables. So the Spicy Kimchi Ramen is basically the same as the Tonkotsu Ramen, except it has kimchi instead of chili paste. There are extra toppings for an additional price you can add to your ramen. You have an option to choose your meat as either chashu pork belly or Berkshire pork belly. I chose chashu-it had a nice salty flavor and was tender. They make their noodles from scratch using a machine to cut the noodles. You can see it in action in the front of the restaurant. They were cooked well- tender and chewy. The ramen is supposed to have bok choy, woodear mushrooms, kimchi, bamboo shoots, and a piece of seaweed. There were barely any bok choy. Boiled egg wasn't advertised but I found half of a soft boiled egg on the bottom of my bowl. The addition of boiled egg was probably a mistake. It would have been nice to have the egg on top of the soup instead of it continuing to cook in the hot soup and to avoid the precious egg yolk sliding into the soup. The soft boiled egg was marinated and had a good soy sauce and mirin flavor. The spicy kimchi ramen is really not that spicy (unless you're really sensitive). The broth does have a good umami flavor, but I have tasted better. It just doesn't taste as rich and creamy. That being said, with the lack of good Asian food in Wilmington, this is pretty good ramen. Probably will visit again the next time I have a ramen craving. The to-go container for the ramen was cute looking but flimsy. The top came off pretty easily while transporting it home and some of the broth spilled out. So be careful if you're getting it to-go. read more

As someone who always had to travel to Raleigh for good ramen I can say that this lil spot is amazing!! I had never tried it before but finally did and I absolutely loved it! The inside is super cute and the vibes are great. The service was amazing as well, super kind people! If you haven't tried this place yet you definitely should. It's a nice hole in the wall spot for Wilmington! I also loved that they had vegetarian options for my sister and I can say that their meat options are really good too! read more

This restaurant is a little hidden in downtown Wilmington. The food is decent. Not going to lie, their food is on the saltier side so grab a water. The ramen portion is perfect for one. The atmosphere is very calm which is nice. Service is okay, there's only one lady running the floor. I would recommend since this is the ramen in the area that I know of. read more

One rainy evening I was craving ramen something fierce, and I was so glad to find Fun Bowl in Downtown Wilmington. I want to say that this is the only place in Wilmington, NC but I could be wrong. At any rate, the Chicken Paitan Ramen that I had seriously hit the spot. It was easy to get a table, the service was fast, and the price was just right. Their kimchi was also spot-on! read more

Finally got a chance to try this place. It's got a cute interior and the staff were welcoming and friendly. I was quickly seated and waited on. I ordered the 'fun bowl' ramen with pork belly. It came out promptly and was delicious. Would definitely come back and they said they can try to accommodate reservations of 5 or more but typically it's FCFS. read more
Spicy ramen-pretty tasty but both my husband and I would have preferred it to be a little more spicy. We added some chili pepper (on the table) for more flavor. The pork chashu was delicious-very tender and flavorful! I added kimchi and bok choy for 1.00 more each. They were pretty skimpy on the bok choy considering you pay extra for it. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. Our food came out pretty quickly. They serve beer and sake, and they have dog friendly seating outside. read more

Ramen is my jam and this place scratches the itch for now. They do have a vegetarian option, which is all I'm ever looking for but obviously it has to have enough flavor for me to love. It's a cute little spot along Front street, you can sit outside on a few tables or indoors. I like that they have outdoor seating, it's fun and when it's nice outside - even better. There are a ton of options to choose from in the ramen section. You can make it your own by adding in all the extras. I added the egg because the egg is the best. The veggie ramen was okay, it didn't blow me away with flavors. It was a bit bland for me, when I think ramen - I want it to be salty and full of flavors. This was okay. I would try it again, maybe a poke bowl and add more flavors to the ramen. I think it's worth giving it a shot since others seem to love it. I'm a picky ramen eater! read more

Good presentation. Decent options more regular white meat chicken options would be nice. We had chicken and beef ramen meals and everyone felt that there was zero flavor to the broth and the noodles. I even added in a spicy oil and still felt like I was drinking water. I think this place would be 5 star if they focused on seasoning the dishes. read more
