Prime 94 SteakHouse is a great neighborhood steakhouse…read more I'm attending a conference for the week, just passing thru New Jersey. My coworkers are content with eating Five Guys for dinner, I'm craving a glass of Caymus and a good steak. After some research, I came across Prime 94 SteakHouse and Grill. Walking in, the large neighborhood bar is to the left and the dining rooms are to the right. I'm solo so I'm escorted to a small, corner two top table. The waiter starts telling me about the specials. After he was finished, I told him a want a 16oz Ribeye and a glass of Caymus. No bread basked needed. Also, can you throw on one or two long hots? Yes sir! Now this is what I would eat at home. I'd buy a nice steak with a good glass of wine. Did I just describe my last meal before I head up to the pearly gates? Yeah.. Prime 94 SteakHouse makes a good steak. The cook was perfect, it was a little fatty but that's the flavor! The french fries are something similar to a diner fry, they were really good as well. I took a piece of steak, a small slice of the long hot, mmm mm! Prime 94 SteakHouse isn't a fancy steakhouse. There was a large table in front of me, I'm assuming it was grandma and her sisters along with a family of four. The aunts were asking, I'm assuming an 19 year old girl about her college, she was giving one word answers. Prime 94 SteakHouse, it's a neighborhood spot that's serving up some good food. If I lived here, this restaurant would be in my dining rotation.

I had a Thursday dinner reservation that I eventually needed to cancel and remake for a lunch reservation. Didn't love that I had to go for lunch but oh well. Our reservation was for Noon which meant that they were just opening up for the day and boy were they busy! There were a ton of people coming in for lunch. Getting situated and to our table took a few because of the overwhelming amount of reservations. I booked our table in the Lounge area rather than the dining room and glad I did as it seems to be more festive! Food-wise we ate the Pollo Parm Pizza and the Hot Calamari. Both were good but nothing spectacular. We ordered festive drinks which were $18 each -- a little high but I get it. We skipped on dessert and got dessert drinks instead - I had the Tiramisu Martini which was delightful!

After about a week of googling "party venues", I stumbled on an amusingly modest website for the Velvet Lounge / Fairfield Manor. The prices seemed average and the photos looked very appealing, so I decided to schedule an appointment to meet with the staff. Initially when I pulled up to the location, I wasn't expecting much. It was the first location I had decided to visit on my hunt for a venue, and assumed I would need to contact a lot of venues prior to making a decision. When I first met with the staff, they all seemed very accommodating and helpful. I had never planned a party as an adult, so I found it difficult to envision the final product. Robbin and Roland were both extremely flexible and I really liked that they allowed for a combination of inside and outside food, decorations, and preparation. To me, being able to culminate a variety of different aspects to create my "dream party" on a budget was really the selling point. The day of, I got to see the lounge go through an astonishing transformation. The months of planning and preparation had me worried that I would be somehow disappointed, but I was rendered speechless by how beautiful and welcoming the atmosphere of the party was. All of my guests were blown away by the event, and I even inspired a few of my guests to hold a similar party for their next birthday. The bartender, the servers, and the owners were all wonderful. I know I could have had a memorable party anywhere, but I am exceedingly pleased by my choice in working with the Fairfield Manor. I hope my friends hold their parties here too, so I have a chance go go back!

He immediately started barking at us about how we had made a reservation for four adults and one child, and that we would have to pay full price for the fourth adult which was $80 who did not show up. When we were seated, I had already apologized to the server that the fourth person could not make it, and the server -- who had otherwise been wonderful -- politely told us it was fine. I really thought this won't be a big deal like other establishments that are even more high end. I later learned that the individual's name was Tom. Describing his behavior as merely rude would be an understatement; his conduct was obnoxious, unprofessional, and unnecessarily aggressive. First, being charged the full $80 price for a guest who did not attend was extremely shocking and disappointing. More concerning, however, was the manner in which Tom approached and addressed us. In all my years of dining out, I have never experienced such poor service or such an inappropriate attitude from restaurant staff. Although I was eventually provided with containers to pack some food to take home, the entire experience left me feeling deeply insulted and completely ruined what was meant to be a special Mother's Day dinner. This Tom, who I was told aa a manger lacks a professionalism to be a qualified one. He needs a major attitude change.

We started with the cucumber, pistachio, and yogurt, with harissa and sesame seeds. Like a very creative and refreshing Mediterranean pickle. Delish. We also got the Mediterranean salad. It was much more interesting than your typical Greek salad. Excellent feta, good cucumbers and tomato, and nice little pita chip slivers. They also start you with very good bread with olive oil and some olives. For our entrées we got Chilean Seabass, Branzino fillet, and Mariscada, which is a big shellfish stew. While it's not indicated on the menu, all entrées come with saffron rice, sautéed vegetables... And their homemade potato chips. The person who got the Mariscada was so happy. It had every kind of fresh shellfish and really was enough for two people. I really enjoyed the Branzino fillet, which came with a lemon caper sauce. It was huge and very delicious, I had to give some pieces away. The Chilean Seabass is the most expensive, at $55. For me, I felt that I have had better Seabass and I preferred my $36 branzino. But the person who ordered it was thrilled and thought it was amazing, and gets it every time here. I loved the saffron rice, and the homemade potato chips. I didn't eat the sautéed vegetables (there was just too much food everywhere!). But the person who tried them thought they were extremely delicious. Overall, this is a great place for sharing, with tons of food. And the cucumber, harissa yogurt, pistachio and sesame seed appetizer showed that they are innovating and not just doing your parent's Don Pepe. Oliver was also a super server as was everyone else on the team. And we enjoyed the patio... though I must say that being over Route 46 traffic is not the most atmospheric, and I wish the patio was on the other side! But who can complain with all this yummy food? Looking forward to coming back here next time I'm in New Jersey.

I proceeded to check the place out and decided to approach the bar. I ordered a drink and apparently the bartender made the wrong type of drink. I then waited there for about 12 minutes to try to get a hold of the waitress. Finally when she saw that I was trying to get a hold of her she asked me what I wanted and I explained to her my problem. She stated that it wasn't her problem and that I would have to pay for a new drink. Meanwhile the drink was right in front of me untouched and she still want me to buy another drink. I personally have never in my life had this type of experience. I asked her if I would be able to speak to the manager. The manager on duty was behind the bar. I was told that he would talk to me when he had a chance. He actually never came over to introduce himself. He ac never came over at all.
