So far attended only one show " Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor dream" and I was so impressed by the production. Talented cast, great costumes, sound, energy and engaging of the audience. It was also humorous. Small theatre with comfortable seats, well organized snack/drink options for purchase. I am planning to attend again!

Well friends... this is my 4th time at the Fulton and I love this place. What's a Cali kid doing in PA anyway?! My in-laws live in Lancaster and every Holiday my wife and I make time and spend the extra money to come to the professional shows here. From Disney's beauty and the beast, to A Christmas story, the talent, production, and service at this historic theatre is incredible. Located in the heart of Lancaster,PA, the original marquee shines bright as you walk up excited for your show. Ushers kindly great you, food and bar available and the coffee is even good. I'm not sure the exact history; but this is a historical landmark from early 1920s with original pieces in tact and original show poster on the wall from that era, you know it's not going anywhere, so rest assured. Look at the beams and stir fried in the pictures I took, also did I mention the orchestra is always live, never recorded and on top of that most of the talent is the best in the industry or from broadway in NYC. Please treat yourself to a night at the Fulton Theatre, you won't regret it! Hungry? Stop by Rachel's crapes for the best crapes in town! -- but wait... your Gluten-free, Vegan, and wanting an Oatmilk cappuccino?! Go to prince street cafe! Healthy and fulfilling options for all diets. well, Peter Pan is about to start and it's sold out show, see ya in Neverland! -JW

A cozy theater with a full bar. Beautiful interior especially around Christmas when it is tastefully decorated. Seats were comfortable and there were plenty of ushers to help you find your section and seat. Performance was professional as were the sets. The orchestra sound was bright and impressive.

Every time I visit another local theater, the Fulton is what I judge it against. It's in the heart of town, with lots of dinner options for before and after the show within easy walking distance. There's a small paid lot right across the street, but if that one's full the Prince Street parking garage is about a block away. The interior is spacious with lots of seating choices, including an upper gallery - it gives you a good view but the stairs, walkways, and seating up there are very narrow, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is nervous about heights. The prices are affordable, but maybe more than other local theaters. Each season, I'm impressed by the diversity of the shows and the incredible talent that performs and produces them - for going on 10 seasons now. They've pulled off some incredibly simple ones (Deathtrap, Legally Blonde), and some that intimidate even much bigger theaters (Sweeney Todd). Even the children's shows are enjoyable - they only last about an hour (perfect for younger attention spans) and tend to involve audience participation. We have had season tickets to these family series shows for three years now, and my daughter loves it. My daughter also has participated in Fulton's theater Early Childhood Academy Program - it was a great introduction to how actors use their space, bodies, and imagination to tell stories. I'd recommend giving it a try to any parent whose little one shows an interest in the stage.

DISCLAIMER - I go to a show maybe once or twice a year. I'm not a Theatre junkie. Most Broadway tunes remind me of a commercial instead of a cultural-historical masterpiece. I'm typically a normal average joe when it comes to Theatre (should it even be capitalized?) but I appreciate great entertainment. So take my review for what it's worth. The Fulton Opera House rocks my freakin' artsy-fartsy socks off! I have seen two musicals - West Side Story and Les Miserables. I was drooling in awe of the stunning performance (figuratively speaking... maybe.) The best part about the Fulton is that there isn't a bad seat in the house, and you're so close to the action. The quality and performance of the cast in each show was incredible. Once my wife finishes school and has evenings off, we will buy season tickets. If you're anywhere close to Lancaster I would highly recommend doing the same. The theatre itself and its history is a gem. Scroll to Katie W's review for the history of the theatre or visit the website thefulton.org. It's not only the oldest operating theatre, but clearly one of the best. You won't be dissappointed!

Thanks to an early holiday gift, I attended my first performance, the 2025 Christmas Show Deck the Halls. I didn't make any food purchases, but I could smell the inviting aroma of popcorn when we entered the theatre. We enjoyed the lively, excellent singing and performances, dazzling costumes, set designs, and a top-notch band. Deck the Halls is a fantastic way to celebrate Christmas with nostalgic songs and remember Jesus' birth. I must note that 1600 people exiting the theatre parking lot is the only honest, non-five-star worthy concern. AMT Memberships are available, and there is already a performance schedule of shows for 2026; tickets are not sold through 3rd-party resellers.

It is illegal to remove medical assistance devices and she was left with no way to even get to her walker. We brought a small foldable one and she was refused to place it at her seat. This was after we were told to make our way through a very crowded gift shop to the other side of the venue, even though our seats were in the middle. This is one of the least accommodating venues I have been to for people with mobility issues. From the parking spots to removing a medical device, it is wholly unacceptable. The theatre itself is a very nice, modern establishment and the performances I have attended are wonderful productions. The ticket prices are a bit high but better seats always are. If you have no mobility issues you will likely be thrilled with this venue.

A Historic Marker proclaims that a famous puppeteer was born nearby. The white door left slightly ajar wears a sign, "Sold Out." Some places might feel forlorn wearing those words, but not here--this is the home of Lancaster Marionette Theater. From the moment you walk into Lancaster Marionette Theater, the magic surrounds you, and what Robert Brock has created on Water Street in historic downtown Lancaster is something out of a storybook. From the John Durang Puppet Museum, to the Backstage Tour, and most of all to the delightful marionette performance itself--everything about this charming building is full of Brock's heart and soul. When I first heard about this small but quaint theater, it gave me visions of memories growing up watching The Sound of Music. We all remember the famous scene of Maria and the children performing their marionettes while singing "The Lonely Goatherd." When I ordered tickets to see Peter Pan, I did not know what to expect but I was looking forward to sharing this experience with my twelve-year-old son. Brock, a native of Lancaster, fell in love with theater and puppets as a little boy when his dad made a puppet play theater for his sister one Christmas. As an adult, he went to Boston Conservatory and majored in Music Theater. In 1990, Brock's Hole in the Wall Theater opened with hand puppets, but when his shoulders gave out, he switched to all marionettes ten years later. January of this year, the name was changed to Lancaster Marionette Theater, and with it came renovations including a new "green" updated lighting system. There are so many parts of creating each show. Making wooden carved puppets, creating patterns for costumes, cutting out the material, sewing clothes, sculpting clay for the heads, painting the marionette, writing the script--these are just a few of the steps Brocks takes. Perhaps that is what makes this small theater so unique. The audience gets the chance to meet the founder and artistic director, Robert Brock, during the Backstage Tour. While learning that it takes him 50-60 hours to build each marionette, audience members feel Brock's charisma and passion for the theater. During the tour that day, Brock told the crowd about a project he is currently working on about dinosaurs. While he still performs some of the same shows each year, he continues to create new ideas. My son and I arrived that Saturday in October for the last performance of the year for Peter Pan. There was a large group of young children attending, and the theater has a policy about children being quiet during the performance. This policy was explained and delivered from one of the staff before the show, standing right in front of the stage, and it was aimed at the children so they could understand. Somehow--it worked. I did not hear a peep from the children throughout the 35-minute show. Brock explains on his website, "Shari Lewis used to say, 'Never write down to children.'" Perhaps that is the key. We left that day with a new appreciation for puppets. It was amazing how Peter Pan was brought to life with just one man--with music, strings and some pixie dust.

All enjoyed themselves. The pre-show backstage tour is fascinating to them because it also includes jnfo on how the artist makes the puppets so don't miss out on that. We recently attended one of the more adult oriented shows. It was over the top awesome. We would definitely do this again for date night! It was funny, minimally baudy.... Great costumes and singing. It is a very small theatre which means every seat is a good one.
