The Imax theater provided a terrific experience, especially for seeing the Christopher Nolan version of The Odyssey. The place is loud, too loud, really -- the biggest strike against it. The ever-rumbling bass in the movie's soundtrack blotted out some actual dialogue. The Odyssey as a movie was terrific. A masculine perspective -- but you did quickly see just what made this story perennially popular. A man must go to war when duty ordains it, even though no one wants to and the object is to get back the wife of another Greek king after she had run off with a young, handsome stranger. Ten years of war and everyone wants to get home ASAP after the victory. But Odysseus chooses a different route and the trouble begins. A great series of challenges unfolds, to make his return to a beloved wife, son and his own kingdom nearly impossible. That is the story, and the yearning for a whole family and a regular life is overpowering. It seems like it just can't happen, and he will be stuck on that desert island with Charlize Theron forever, poor guy. Glad we saw it. But it was a bit too loud. Previews of coming attractions are pitched somewhere near 10,000 decibels. Also, the chairs recline so much they were even a little difficult to climb out of.... But I am not complaining! They will be putting in new stadium seats that recline and the seats are heated. Ain't that crazy?... Yes, we continue to go here to watch the movies. It's a nice location.

I appreciate that they have 3D options for movies in addition to standard definition. As far as movie snack prices go, it'll bleed you dry like any movie theatre these days, but honestly it's worth skipping the snacks to see a movie on the big screen if that's an issue (or you can just share one box of candy/popcorn with friends/kids). I am a firm believer in the movie theatre experience (streaming is just not the same) and I am incredibly grateful to have a movie theatre here in Carlisle!

There are plenty of stalls in the ladies room, by far a joy in itself. But I took away one star, and probably should have taken more, because the sound system was not great. We saw On Your Feet last night and the music was very loud (to be expected) but the audio system did not allow for understanding the words. It was difficult to figure out what was going on, where they were, and details that you catch only in the dialogue. I asked the friends I was with if they were getting the dialogue and they said they were not. At intermission I spoke with a woman sitting in another section and when I asked her about it, she basically said, "Oh thank God, I thought I was the only one!" Plus, she couldn't understand the English it the Spanish! Many of the words in the song were also not discernible. Not that they weren't loud enough, they were. Just not distinct. It could have been a much better evening had I been able to hear and understand the words that were being said. I think 4 is generous but I wish it would have been 5 stars. By the way, this is in no way a critique of the show. I thought the acting and music were excellent. Just wish I'd understood the dialogue and words in songs. That said, I'll be looking toward other venues in the area for theater. Dialogue needs to be understood.
