Well, they sold me a battery then said they weren't comfortable swapping them out. They recommended a nearby shop but, once I drove there, that shop refused to install someone else's battery and wanted to charge me over $700 which seemed really fishy. So I was stuck with a $200 battery and a truck I couldn't turn off. Gave someone else a call and they recommended E. Mower & Son. These mechanics couldn't have been nicer. They also have some of the cheapest fuel prices for 87 octane gas, 91 Premium Octane Non-ethanol gasoline, as well as very fair priced diesel, and grill propane cylinder exchanges in the area! They also offer towing services if you get stranded or get into a crash! They only have 4 lifts but the crew usually pumps out over a dozen cars a day! Luckily I was able to coast to Monro Auto. They were able to take a look at my Subaru almost immediately and initially gave me a very glum diagnosis reporting that one of the tubes was broken and had leaked out ALL of the transmission fluid. The mechanic was was honest, matter of fact and straight forward with the many issues. The manager Chris calmed my nerves and was very reassuring. They worked on the car for two hours and consistently gave me updates. After the car was test driven it was reported that the new tube wasn't enough to rectify the problem and that I needed a new transmission. At this point I was unraveling as I calculated the cost to have my car towed to New York, repair costs, and how my friends and I would get back. As I was on the phone with AAA the mechanic came running out to "try one more thing." He went out to reset the car, thinking perhaps it had switched to a safety mode. It indeed had and the car was working and driving smoothly! This mechanic could have easily completed his diagnosis and moved on to his next job but he didn't. He worked tirelessly to research, identify, and treat the issue. He didn't just push us along, he was thoughtful and persistent. This was certainly not what we had planned for our vacation but these guys calmed my nerves, thoughtfully guided me through the issue, and fixed the car!
