The moment I walked in they called for someone in the back to come take him to check him immediately; they then spent 14 hours rescuing him. They discussed treatment plans/options with compassion and understanding. Dr Farrell, I later discovered, stayed well past her shift helping monitor him. Stacy was able to get an IV line into him when I was ready to give up. They not only took care of my pet but they reached out to care for me-offering blankets (Clarissa!), tissues and coffee/water as well as comfort. Thank you to all of the unnamed team who helped send our old man home with a little more time. You are all amazing and I wish I had thought to get all of your names and thank each of you from the bottom of my heart!

When I got there, vet techs were waiting for me. Some of them took her back, and one took my story on what happened, and her symptoms. I had to call Pet Poison Line so they could tell the vets how to treat her-that's fine-and they wanted to do a full workup on her since she is 12. I said that's fine, that's what insurance is for. It was about 11pm when I was sent home to rest while they took care of her. At about two, they called me to tell me that she survived the nightshade poisoning, but they had found a thicker spot in her intestines in the x-ray, and they wanted to do follow-up images in the morning, so I got another estimate for them to keep her til the next day and run another round of x-rays and do an ultrasound. She stayed and I went back to sleep. In the morning, a very kind vet whose name I don't remember called me and went over what is happening and why that spot could be there. She gave me advice on how to proceed after today. She asked what food my cat eats so they could give it to her there too. I was kept in the loop the whole time from when I got there to when I picked her up at 4:30pm. It set me back about $3500. Thank God for pet insurance. But considering all they did and the overnight stay, not terrible. My cat's idiocy may have saved her bacon if we caught something early, but so did True Care's thoroughness.

We moved to California a few years ago, and finding someone you trust with your furry family member's health can feel daunting when there are so many options. We were initially drawn to Southpaw because of the countless wonderful reviews about Dr. Chiang, and after meeting her, we knew we had found the right place. But what I've come to appreciate most is that the care at Southpaw goes far beyond any one veterinarian. The front desk staff, technicians, Dr. Braham, and entire team are incredibly attentive, compassionate, and genuinely caring. You can tell that they don't simply see your pets as patients--they truly get to know and love them. We recently had to make the incredibly difficult decision to put Sugar to rest. It was my first time going through something like this, and I was terrified of the process. But the Southpaw team made an incredibly painful experience feel as gentle and comforting as it could possibly be. They never treated it like a transaction. They took their time, cared for Sugar with so much tenderness, and were incredibly compassionate toward me and my grief. Seeing how much they loved Sugar and how thoughtfully they cared for both of us meant more than I can put into words. I should have written this review much sooner, but after seeing how they supported us during one of the hardest moments of my life, I really felt compelled to share how exceptional they are. Thankfully, Sugar's younger sister is also part of the Southpaw family, so we know she is in the very best hands. My friend and her mom also bring their pets here, and I recommend Southpaw to everyone I know. Thank you, Southpaw, for taking such wonderful care of our family and, most importantly, for loving Sugar so well. We will always be grateful.

If you are a resident of Sherman Oaks and are a critical thinker, think twice about this local veterinarian. It came highly recommended by a neighbor. I had high hopes and wanted to support this female centric place, however, as a dog mom I would never recommend it due to poor communication, lack of accountability and customer service and a defensive/ hostile stance when questioned. I went back for a recheck of my dog's allergies and skin growths. Note that there are two problems I was seen for initially and the follow up was to include both. This was not the case. I had to remind Dr. Cortez to remeasure my dog's growths. Not all of the growths were measured and there were no recommendations communicated for care. She was focused on his allergies, which had not resolved. I received VERBAL directions for 4 DIFFERENT TASKS and was told she would email me. In the days that followed I called the office and asked for my summary and instructions. I' was told they would be emailed. This happened three times. Nothing was emailed. I was not informed that Dr. Cortez was sick until I was also being instructed not to come back in the email shown below. It's sad that Southpaw won't take any accountability for the excessive wait, poor communication and lacking customer service. I think customer service is a thing of the past, but it's a quality that's important to me. There was no apology or anything that even approached an apology. If you value the ability to ask questions and discuss issues about your fur baby as they arise then this is not your veterinarian either.

From the moment we walked in, she was dismissive, rude, and arrogant. She barely made eye contact with me the entire appointment and directed almost all her attention and responses to my husband, even when I was the one asking questions. I had legitimate concerns and follow-up questions about vaccinations and nutrition recommendations. Our breeder had specifically advised a certain food, and when I mentioned that and asked for her thoughts, Dr. McCrimmon became visibly defensive. Instead of having a professional conversation or explaining her reasoning calmly, she acted like my questions were a personal attack. She responded in a pompous and condescending way that made us both uncomfortable. The male nurse who administered the vaccine was actually very kind and patiently answered my questions, which was a small bright spot. However, by that point Dr. McCrimmon had already completely derailed the visit, and the overall experience left us feeling disrespected and stressed. She also engaged in heavy fear-mongering, warning that if our puppy's testicles don't descend he'll get testicular cancer, along with a few other dramatic health risks. While I understand the importance of being informed, the delivery was unnecessarily alarming and unhelpful for first-time puppy parents who were already excited and nervous. We left feeling unsupported rather than cared for. As pet owners, we're allowed to ask questions and hear different opinions--especially when it comes to our puppy's health. This is not the compassionate, collaborative care we were hoping for. I would not recommend this clinic or Dr. McCrimmon. We'll be finding a different vet moving forward.

In a panic, we called this animal hospital because finding vets that deal with smaller animals is really hard and Petco highly recommended them to us. We really needed Hammifer to be checked out before we put her back in her cage in case she had any of the mites on her because we didn't want the issue to continue. Sadly they were booked for a few days, but Hammifer chilled in another enclosure until our appointment. Right off the bat they will take a deposit over the phone to hold your appointment, my deposit was $95. When we got there, reception was warm and welcoming and their rooms are comfy, big, and clean. Every person we spoke with from our first encounter, to the lovely lady that came to collect my new patient forms, to the adorable guy that came in to check us out, was just delightful. They also have a full on coffee and water bar, which was awesome because it was such a hot day, not to mention their waiting room is very spacious. We saw Dr. Seema today and she was fantastic. She's very knowledgeable on hamsters and she took her time examining Hammifer for mites. She told us what it looks like if she were to ever get mites, how to lower the risk of getting mites again, and answered all of our questions. She also gave Hammifer an exam and listened to her little heart. She's the best girl and is very healthy. The check out process was easy, since Hammifer didn't require any testing or treatments, they just applied the $95 deposit to her visit and we were able to go on our way. Other things to mention: there is a tiny lot in the rear for parking and very little metered parking in front. Parking can get tricky depending on what time you come, we got lucky and got the last spot in the lot and our appointment was at 4. In any case, we did have a great experience here. Dr. Seema did a great job and I left feeling relieved knowing Hammifer was checked out by a true professional. I highly recommend this pet hospital.

I recommend you get there EARLY if you're going for a spay/neuter clinic day. They say no later than 7:30 AM but I was there at around 6:45 and they were already checking people in... so go early. Dr. Shukhman is so kind and can tell helping animals is his passion. Had a follow up question after the surgery and Mauricio was so helpful too. If your pets pick up time is before 1PM, they will contact you. The expectation is for you to come pick up your animal promptly after the call to avoid stress on the animals so make sure you hang out close to the location if don't live close. They also offer other services that can be done at the same time like microchips which we opted for as well.

I met with a male vet who was borderline condescending and explained how my dog needed 12(!) extractions when just a year before his teeth were perfect. I felt something was very off and replied that if his condition was that drastic, I would take my dog to his normal vet for the procedure. Then, oddly, the vet mentioned, almost in passing, how Green Dog makes their money off of tooth extractions. That's when all my alarms went off. After taking my dog to his normal vet for the dental under anesthesia, he ended up only needing ONE extraction!! Everything else was fine. I was so glad I went with my gut and got a second opinion. The last thing you want when your fur baby is suffering is to reach voicemail after voicemail. Hearing a compassionate human voice on the other end of the phone brought me so much comfort. She came to my home first thing the next morning. I was worried about my younger Golden Retriever jumping on her or interfering with her care, but she was absolutely wonderful with both of my dogs. She encouraged him to stay in the room with us once he was comfortable with her, and I truly believe that helped him understand what was happening. She was incredibly professional, but I'll never forget one small moment. Out of the corner of my eye, while I was saying my final words and paying my last tributes to my girl, I saw her quietly wiping tears from her eyes. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how often we're expected to wear a mask and stay composed. Seeing that genuine emotion didn't make her seem less professional, it reassured me that she truly cared. In those final moments, your mind races. You question whether you're making the right decision. Seeing her emotion gave me peace because I knew she wasn't simply going through the motions. I knew that if she believed my girl wasn't ready, she would have told me. Most of us are fortunate enough to experience this kind of heartbreak only a few times in our lives. She carries families through it over and over again. That takes an incredible amount of compassion. Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for helping my sweet Lilo leave this world peacefully and with dignity. Please take care of yourself, too. The first photo is the day Oliver met Lilo as a puppy, their first photo together. The second was taken just before the veterinarian arrived to help Lilo pass. I didn't realize until later that I had unknowingly captured both the beginning and the end of their story together I will miss my Lilo for eternity.
