The entire staff at Edison Upholstery was very friendly and supper easy to work with. John is a master at his craft. He possesses a vast knowledge of furniture history (I learned a few things along the way), is keen to share both that knowledge and his opinion, and went above and beyond my expectations. I picked a tricky toile pattern for a tufted chair and he was able to isolate the pattern in each tuft. It's now a focal point of the entire cottage. Sure, things got a little pricey, but when you're asking for a highly skilled craft to be applied to a piece of cherished antique furniture, skimping is the low road.

The pricing at Girard Interiors is overly complex and highly inflated. No one there can give me a…read morestraight or consistent response on pricing and they find every way possible to up-charge. Their business practice is to tack on additional fees to already high prices. For example, they charge significant penalties for using fabric not bought directly through them, high delivery fees, additional charges for foam and any material used, credit card fees, etc. Where they can take advantage of any opportunity to maximize price, they do. What's worst, though, is that many of these penalties and fees are not even revealed until after it's too late to back out. The way they conduct business is shady and leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

The original work involved was demoing the fiberboard and replacing it with sheet rock, spackle and painting. For the rest of the house, he did everything from replacing doors, re-doing the stairs, upgrading the door hardware, closing off wall ac unit provisions with matching the siding on the exterior and much much more. Our family friends couldn't believe their eyes when they saw how much better the entire house looked. What stood out about Jay's work was that he and/or his crew (Harral) were there every single day from the day the job started till the end. Even after we expanded the scope (which now went into 2-3 months), they were there every single day (despite having to go through a surgery in the middle). His dedication & integrity is unparalleled. We will always be grateful to Jay for helping us with our home and would wholeheartedly recommend Jay.
