If they are smart they will be selling that by the bottle soon like seen some other places start doing once they caught on. The teriyaki sauce is the thick sweet kind which I love because the more runny kind is too savory and tangy for my liking. I only went inside for a second but the place looked really cool! The also have Boba Tea and Sushi which I'll have to try soon, but there's a lot of seating and parking around the building so there's plenty of space. I recommend someone take a photo of their updated menu so the prices are current. (I forgot). I paid about $30 for two chicken teriyakis. I'll be picking up more frequently from here since it's hard sometimes to find a good teriyaki spot!

Let's start with the positives though. The service here is friendly as my boyfriend and I were greeted and seated promptly with menus. We ended up going with their current special where you get two rolls and an appetizer, my boyfriend got the salmon delight while I got the coconut shrimp roll with the shrimp tempura for our appetizer. The ambiance here is very classy and definitely goes for a more upscale dining experience with paper lanterns, minimalistic decor and the slightly dim lighting. We got salad and miso soup but I have never seen the salad with a thick orange dressing, it was alright but my boyfriend wasn't a fan. The miso soup was okay but I really wished they put tofu or wakame. We got the shrimp tempura first and the shrimp is nice and juicy, however the breading was a bit off. It had a weird texture and taste that I have never tasted on shrimp tempura. Our rolls were dropped off and I noticed that the rolls are huge but the quality was not the great. The rice appeared mushy, the spicy tuna filling for both rolls was meh (also spicy for my boyfriend who can't handle spicy), and my coconut shrimp roll had a different sauce from the coconut shrimp as it was a spicy mayo (orange) compared to the white coconut sauce that was drizzled on the side of coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp also had the same batter as the shrimp tempura so it was off putting and I was hoping more for the traditional coconut shrimp with coconut flakes on it. I wouldn't mind trying out the peanut butter chicken or their other entrees as I feel like that would have been the better move. Our server didn't really check in on us until the end which was unfortunate as my boyfriend needed water, especially due to how spicy the spicy tuna was.

The space is small, with four seats at the bar, two floating seats, and two standing only spots. It's an intimate space with lots of Japanese figurines and memorabilia. Behind the bar sits a small TV where the bartender plays physical media (can you believe it!?) -- DVDs and Blue Rays of Japanese films. This is probably our favorite thing we've done in Astoria! Can't recommended enough! A total hidden gem.

It is more authentic than the ramen you buy at the Asian grocer and take home to make yourself. There is something different about a bowl made by someone who knows what the bowl is supposed to be. The room was not what you might imagine when you think of ramen. It was somewhere between a teriyaki place and a sandwich shop. The building was full of businesses and the room belonged to the building. There was nothing wrong with that. A man does not need much from a room when he has a good bowl in front of him. The waitresses understand this. They come by often. They look at the table and see what is needed. Water. Another thing. Anything that is not quite right. They take care of it. That matters.
