This was my first time there. Our waitress neomi was wonderful. We got the fried scallops as an appetizer. They were succulent and perfectly battered. We got the lava sushi. I would have preferred a cold sushi vs. A baked one. They give you miso soup which to me taste like a bowl of beef broth with a couple mushrooms in it. The ginger salad was tasty. We received the shrimp and veggie tempura dish which was perfectly battered. I got the hibachi shrimp and chicken combination dish which consisted of veggies, fried rice, shrimp and chicken. It was quite tasty. They have a 10% military discount plus I used a $10 coupon. I would definitely go back.

I visited the restaurant portion of Fuji (which has a different name on the store front outside) as part of a double date. The decor inside is standard for a hibachi/ sushi restaurant. There weren't a ton of other customers on a Monday night. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. While tasty and plated well, the food was definitely on the pricier side of suburban sushi.

I've been here numerous times over the years and always have a good experience. The staff is usually very friendly and quick. We didn't sit at hibachi and opted for a normal table. My boyfriend ordered the Udon soup that was served with a salad. We also ordered 2 rolls and fried rice. Our 2 rolls were the Volcano Roll and the Ninja (I believe). Their Volcano Roll was different than a Volcano Roll I'm used to from another spot was was still decent; however, I probably wouldn't order it again just because it was a little much for me in the way of greasy flavor. My boyfriend had the Ninja and enjoyed it. It was a fried roll and I'm not much into fried rolls so I didn't have any of his. Service was quick. Atmosphere was decent. Most of their seating is hibachi... and they do have sushi bar seating available too. I believe they used to be open for lunch but once earlier this year, a friend and I went for lunch but they were closed.

Stopped by for some quick sushi. The wife and I ate here on our first date 16 years ago. The levels of customers here has drastically reduced so the staff looked underwhelmed. Like many restaurants, I don't see a good future ahead for this establishment.

This restaurant had a small aquarium in the waiting area, so many kids were watching the fish while they waited. It was enough to feel the atmosphere of a Japanese restaurant. The sushi boat menu seemed a bit expensive for the amount of food. The fried scallops were delicious. Our server didn't show up often, so we had to wait a little to order. I normally give it a 5-star in my reviews, but it wasn't too bad here, so I gave it a 4-star instead.

Seafood combination (scallops and shrimp), teriyaki style

The sushi here is pretty good and fresh, and while I've never done the hibachi, where I sat I could see the hibachi and it looks like a lot of fun, it seems they do hibachi right if you're looking for it here. The place gets lively right around 6. It's usually bustling and talkative. I always love a side salad with the ginger dressing before my sushi and this one is just fine. It's not a standout from any other sushi place, pretty standard, but it hits the spot. This latest time I went with my parents we got the tempura shrimp as an appetizer and it was pretty good. I do wish the tempura sauce would've been a little more flavorful. My non-sushi eating parents got the seafood combo teriyaki style, and they really enjoyed it. I took a few bites and it was very nice -- the scallops weren't over cooked, they were very tender, same with the shrimp. The teriyaki sauce was well balanced, not too salty or sweet, just right. Their crunch munch roll here is my favorite. It's generously filled with spicy crab, the shrimp is nice on the outside, and the tempura flakes add a good crunch, and the spicy dressing finishes it off with some heat. I also like to get an unagi roll, and theirs is better than most places. My sister, however, got the volcano roll and it wasn't very good. It was baked or steamed in foil, so the rice didn't hold together and it fell apart trying to eat it, they put way too much spicy mayo and that got all mixed in with the rice. It was literally a hot mess. She hated to use this word, but she said it was terrible. I tried it and agreed. That's probably the only bad note to make. But overall, this is probably one of the better sushi/Japanese spots in the area

    Food was amazing.

Great place for Groups food was amazing service was OK just feel that servers should be the age that can serve alcohol so that we don't have to wait longer than usual to get your alcohol beverages nevertheless the food was amazing the presentation was also amazing. Love the hibachi.

I've been going to Samurai for date nights and friend dinners for years and every roll is huge and fresh, and I always have great service. Good sushi is hard to find in land locked Kentucky! Samurai must have great sources for their fish because the freshness is very apparent, every time I go. Favorite rolls: Mark's Roll, Happy Sunday, Texas Roll, Barbie's Favorite, Sakura Roll, and Midnight Roll but truthfully, you cannot go wrong. We heard the story of our favorite roll! The Mark's roll was named after a very kind soul that was a friend of the restaurant that sadly passed away. He loved spicy food and was the light of the room, so the fried jalalpeno and flaming plate make the perfect homage to him. The love and care Samurai has for their customers and the community is unmatched! Come cute with 15 people, or in your pajamas with your bestie. The atmosphere is very welcoming; casual but romantic still. Either way come ready to EAT!

The second was completely off--overripe, heavy blackberry notes, clearly oxidized and not the same quality wine. This is what happens when a bottle has been open too long. When I pointed it out, instead of addressing it professionally, the server repeatedly insisted it was from the same bottle and argued with me. That's not just poor service--that's dismissive and borderline insulting. I wasn't trying to get out of paying. I explicitly said I would pay for the glass and not drink it--which I did. I left the full glass on the table. At that point, the appropriate response would have been to move on. Instead, the argument continued. For context, I spent 22 years in the wine and spirits industry. I know the difference--but frankly, anyone could have smelled and tasted how off that wine was. I still paid and tipped 20%, but the issue isn't the charge--it's the way this was handled. Arguing with a customer instead of listening is unacceptable. Do better.

I don't frequent the Anchorage area often, so I did not know that this place existed until finding it online. We are big sushi lovers, and man, theirs did not disappoint! In fact, for how small of a place it is, I was impressed with how many different options of rolls that they had. They also have other items on their menu if you're not feeling sushi. I ordered the crab rangoon roll - a personal fave of mine - and this was the best one I've had... huge portions and drizzled with sweet chili sauce... yum! I also appreciate the size of the roll, as one was the perfect size for a dinner portion and not too small like it can be at other places. The owners, or at least I think, were running the shop and were very friendly and accommodating. Make sure to pay them a visit so you get to experience their fantastic food!

For the money spent, it was not okay to spend so much and not eat. The gentleman working there at the counter was very nice and was pleasant to talk to. The food... I don't know. I guess since it was the end of the night but still... we ordered to go after leaving the Kawaii Candy & Karaoke Elite event... still hot but it was kind of a hot mess. I refused to take photos of the food just added into my sorrow. An order of chicken and one shrimp fried rice- both so over cooked and seemingly recooked and just out too long.. the rice was just mush in both orders. The crab Rangoons two orders came with three- but they tasted really bad like weird and the texture threw us through another dimension. The firecracker shrimp didn't get eaten either... Instead of the sauce put on the side to add once home it was drenched- but made it so soggy there was no saving it no way to do anything with the goop breading. I just gave up. I know the lady who came out the kitchen looked irradiated but people were picking up to go orders when we came in... I know it was 40 minutes or less before closing so... I mean I get it I apologize for wanting to try the place for the first time while in the area- literally across the street... but it's going to have to be super early and in a little while. Heard nothing but good things so I did expect a lot I guess and that's on me... I will try it again and early in the day when I do. My daughter ordered something else but she didn't like it. I want to give it another go... I think it's one of those cases.. have to try again. But we won't order so much. We always order tons to try when we find a new place. So yeah.. less spending next time.

As always, the dinner entertainment is quite enjoyable with the large, hot fire, egg juggling, and onion-ring choo-choo train. The food was prepared quite nicely, and the chef was very light with the seasonings. The chefs under the previous management were quite heavy with the seasonings and I always had to tell them ..."light on the teriyaki". On this visit, that was not the case and I appreciated the difference. The hibachi dining experience is usually always a nice one. While it is quite generic, it is enjoyable. We will return.

Let me start with the food because it was absolutely outstanding. I ordered the steak and chicken hibachi with fried rice, and it also came with two shrimp as an appetizer, plus the ginger salad and soup. I'm not even a soup person, but that soup was SO good. And the ginger dressing on the salad? Honestly to die for. The portions were huge too--I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. We also ordered calamari as an appetizer. The portion size was great and the calamari itself was nice and meaty, but the breading wasn't my favorite. It could've been a lot better in terms of flavor and texture. As for the hibachi experience itself, this is where it fell a little short. Since we were the last table of the night, the chef didn't really do many tricks or interact much. I was expecting more of that classic entertaining hibachi show, but it felt a bit rushed--understandable given the timing, but still a little disappointing. Also, since we were there for a birthday, I was hoping for at least a small acknowledgment (a song, dessert, something), but they didn't do anything for it.
