The interior is pretty simple and no-frills, nothing that screams "destination dining." But the moment the food hits the table, none of that matters. I ordered the hot honey chicken tacos (with grilled chicken), and they absolutely delivered. The flavor balance was spot-on--sweet, savory, and just enough heat to keep things interesting without overpowering the dish. Every bite felt intentional and well-executed. The wait staff were also genuinely friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. This is one of those places where the kitchen is clearly the focus, and it shows. Like many others, we stayed in Lake Junaluska for a week on vacation. We were initially going to go somewhere else but the wait was too long so we came here. When we called, we were told no wait which was both a huge green flag but also a red flag.. we came here and are so glad we did! (Later on I overhead they had a wait because the kitchen started to back up, so we just got lucky!). This place is pretty tiny, but our party of 6 was promptly seated. They serve a pretty decent selection of beers as well as THC beverages (not for me). They have a wide variety of food available. I got the Nashville Honey Hot chicken tacos. I usually NEVER get chicken tacos because I think that they're dry and inferior to beef -- but I was intrigued. These were the best chicken tacos I have ever had in my life. Full stop. Need the recipe. Got it with an Apple and Daikon salad which was good. Rest of the party got an assortment of chicken, fish and Bang Bang shrimp but I only had eyes for those chicken tacos. One member of our party thought the fish he had been served was not red snapper but another variety such as tilapia -- he's a fishing guide down in Florida so I will deferred to him, but if there was some tom foolery with fish its hard to tell if it was the restaurant's fault or the supply chain -- he said it was good either way. Street corn was good, pork bowl was outstanding, fried okra good etc. My Mom insisted on paying when the time came and accidentally forgot her card at the restaurant. We called the restaurant at 11pm, we'll past closing and someone answered. When we told them we needed to come pick it up because they were closed Monday when my Mom flew out, they said it was fine to come pick it up. The owner walked her card out to us (apparently she also cooks and helps clean up; a great owner operator!). Great experience, would go back again. Great food, good people. read more

Went to Fuego a few days ago for lunch. There were four of us and we had the Fuego Burger with potato wedges, Korean Bowl, Classic Burger, and BBQ pulled pork sandwich with fried okra. All of our meals were excellent. We were seated right away. The restaurant was immaculately clean. Our server (Noodles, yes, that is her name) was efficient, friendly, and professional. Really interesting spot! I've had the steak quesadilla which was pretty decent and the portions were better than what I expected for the price. The folks that work there are nice but the pickup spot is right in front of the door to the kitchen so be careful when you're waiting to pick up food. When you're inside it's as if you're in a house that was just converted into a restaurant cafe so it's kind of unique in that sense, and they do have a few different selections for beer which is awesome. She was ugly and mean, like before, and apparently furious I had dared to write the review of last week. I told the truth and I stand by what I wrote. Best food around. I have ate at the Fuego food truck since 2020 but the restaurant is also great! We had the best service and the hostess did a great job too! I got the adobo chicken nachos and then the pork bowl, best meal I've had at a restaurant in a very long time. Arrived this evening around 7:15. There were only a few people dining due to a festival in the neighboring town. We were promptly seated and our server was Bridget. We had never been here before and although not celiac we inquired about some gluten free options and Bridget went over and above to make suggestions and offer accommodations. My husband had the lobster burger with truffle fries and fried okra- he stated it was perfectly cooked and decadent - and the truffle fries were some of the best he's had. I had the sticky pork bowl- the small was enough to feed two people- and they have a large! Also delicious and fresh. Bridget ensured we were happy and needed for nothing.
