I'm very conflicted writing this post ....they do really good work and show up when they say, but…read morethe job that was agreed to was not done. With our agreement of a very big job I put down a large deposit/down payment (and that comes with the territory when you want a big job done) but you are risking that money because you put it out without one hour of work done or any product delivered. that being said, these guys agree to do the work with the balance being paid at the completion of the job. Pretty simple right ? Not so much , I come home from work on the first day of the 3 day job and the owners son is already asking for chunks of money because he " needs to pay his guys". Not really my responsibility?! But you feel like being a good person and help the guy out....but then each day he keeps going to the well wanting more money $$$ . After all this, you would think that this guy would honor his work ? Nope , when I show him proof of a dead tree he claims it is alive... just dormant. Just no talking sense to this company , it's a shame , they're local and do good work but they can't get out of there own way. They tore up my property driving truck on it and scratched up expensive deck furniture. They ordered extra sod (after promising any extra would be used) but then refused to lay it and let it go bad. Won't replace the dead tree after finally admitting it was dead claiming there's a 30 day " warranty " on tree ! They planted it dormant and it never came to life like the others . Instead of working it out to finish the agreed upon job they just threaten you with court and lawsuits when you won't pay for unfinished work. Gladly will get a laugh out of the judge when they are shown this company's fraud!

Definitely not Nicks for firewood! By the way when I repeatedly called and texted after the fact I got no response at all! At the very least ,poorly run & operated business! Larry from Mount Laurel

Phil's Firewood - 2017 stack. Same 5 bags. Logs look a bit bigger this year ... we'll see how they burn!

They're even better if you conveniently have a wooded lot nearby ... but it's not as easy in the city: while I can collect fallen kindling, I can't exactly take a saw to the trees in our beloved parks! Quality: Phil has some nice, solid, hard wood! Firewood, that is! Nicely seasoned, good size, and burns nicely! Pricing: https://philsfirewood.wordpress.com/pricing/ "Each bag holds 2.5 cubic feet, ~3-4 store bundles measuring 0.75 cubic feet each." Let's do the math! 3-4 store bundles: $21-$27 or $28-36 ($6.99-$8.99/bundle at Acme-Whole Foods). * 2 bags: $50 ($25.00/bag) * 3 bags: $70 ($23.33/bag) * 4 bags+: $20/bag (sweet spot, baby!) * 5 bags+: $20/bag with free kindling (if paying cash) * Specialty firewood: $30/bag Delivery and Service: Note: check website for 2 bag and 6 bag minimum delivery zip codes! We initially scheduled a 11:30A-12:30P delivery. Phil was running a shade late - but was very easy to get ahold of via phone/text and expertly managed a same day reschedule for a time that worked for us. Phil delivered and stacked the firewood where we wanted it stored (see picture) - which involved a smaller walkway behind the house. Sure, it's slightly pricier compared to: * Remote wooded areas (varies: 1/4 cord (32cu ft)) * Fairmount Park Recycling Center (free, but chainsaw it yourself) * http://www.phila.gov/ParksandRecreation/environment/Pages/RecyclingCenter.aspx However, having the convenience and confidence of a professional deliver and stack quality wood - saving yourself a trek through the sticks, a car cleaning, countless hellish splinters (been there, done that), and potential self-inflicted injury (don't even want to think about it) - is well worth it!
