Jacksonville University may market itself like a prestigious private university with a $60,000+…read moreprice tag, but our family's experience was extremely disappointing -- especially for student athletes. My daughter attended JU, ran track and field on scholarship, and recently graduated with her master's degree. While we're proud of her for persevering, the way she and other athletes were treated throughout her time there was unacceptable. Injuries were consistently downplayed, and there was pressure to continue training and competing despite ongoing issues. My daughter is not someone who quits, so she pushed through, and in our opinion it only made things worse physically. Student athlete health and long-term well-being should come before performance. There also seemed to be a clear priority system within athletics where bigger sports received better treatment while track and field and cross-country were often overlooked. Trainers appeared far more focused on higher-profile sports, while runners frequently felt neglected or brushed aside. The school would push athletes to participate in fundraising programs with promises of team gear if certain donation goals were met. My daughter met the required goals, only to later be told there was not enough gear available anyway. Situations like that were incredibly frustrating and felt dishonest to the athletes putting in the effort. The dorm conditions were also terrible at times, including mold concerns that did not seem to be handled with the urgency they deserved. Campus maintenance overall felt lacking. Her vehicle was repeatedly damaged in parking areas with no accountability, and landscaping crews constantly blew dirt and debris all over students' cars. The dining hall food was another major disappointment. We heard repeated complaints about food quality and cleanliness, including bugs and hair found in meals. That is completely unacceptable for a university charging premium tuition prices. Thankfully, my daughter graduated and moved on, but if I were paying full tuition for this school, I would be furious. Families considering Jacksonville University -- especially athletes -- should strongly research all other options before committing.

Another professor for same class was overheard stating in front of students, that a cohort not professional. Back at you! I find them to be highly disorganized and dismissive of students. Overpriced for sure. The quality doesn't equal the pricetag. Seem to have no concept that their students are their customers. I am giving it 3 stars instead of two because there are some really good professors, but overall my experience so far has been less that pleasant.

I've been to several of these dinners over the years, and when I was a volunteer for BSA- I even helped run these functions in another council. The Scouting program has always and will always be very special to me. This location was interesting to get to- tucked back off Art Museum Dr, situated between Atlantic Blvd and Beach Blvd. Plenty of parking was available for the event and there were over 40 tables (8 seats at each table) inside the spacious room. Art adorned the hallways to other areas of the building. The event room was huge- they had three large screens set up at the front, 2 bars in each back corner and the round tables took up all the space of the room- filled tables too! They did some covid screening procedures to attend the event- filling out a questionnaire asking about any symptoms, signing that you have not come in contact and temperature screenings at the door. I am not sure if the center catered the event or if BSA hired caterers and servers- the food was what you would expect for banquet food- chicken breast, roasted potatoes and an assortment of veggies. There was bread and salad before dinner and dessert was a very good bread pudding and key lime pie (John said it was very tart). Servers could have done a better job at coordinating serving the tables- we had one salad dropped and 5 minutes later, 3 more dropped and 10 minutes later the other 4 salads finally made it to the table. The main dish was a little faster coming out, but still 2 were served first, then another 2 then the remaining 4. Compared to the previous numerous years- this location was more comfortable to enjoy the event at and parking was closer to the entrance. I hope the BSA continue to use this venue for future events.

This review is primarily focused on the really primo ballroom which is a very spacious floor space with very high ceilings that can be used /rented for any event. Very cool that as long as there is no UNF event scheduled in the ballroom, UNF makes the ballroom available to the public for rental. Rental prices are reasonable and comparable to what the local hotels charged but IMO the UNF ballroom is a notch above with a dedicated parking garage adjacent to the student union building, very clean and new carpets & furnishings. We attended a graduation party in the ballroom last year and really enjoyed the food (catered by UNF), the bright atmosphere, the entire A/V set up which includes great audio sound and 4 big video screens. The entire ballroom has 4 rooms that can be subdivided with 3 wall dividers. The ballroom space for just 3 rooms can hold over 120 people and 4 rooms over 150. This is a great option to consider for your future big events in JAX.

I must say upon pulling up to the school it is a beautiful High school Well kept friendly Game staff . Checking into the game was simple you have your ticket from Go Fan which is the app they use now to purchase tickets and that's fairly simple as well you just download it and search your team and the team schedule pops up . You can even select to set the team as your favorite and be keep in the loop constantly about games and ticket purchases which is nice ! The concession stand was loaded with game day snacks from wings to nachos and chips soda. Both teams have played an amazing game entertaining and exciting giving all they have and leaving it in the field. The gold and blue that the Sandalwood Saints are wear is eye catching and stands out . Fletcher in the house rocking purple and black which is nice but I'm part-cal to my Saints oh yeah I can't forget about the Cheerleading team they are so hype and enthusiastic encouraging the team all the way loud and on beat, along with the both bands playing an amazing mini concert during halftime along with a flag show which was really kool to watch. Until someone had to go and rue-in a great time with threats and changed the whole vibe of the game and atmosphere . Thank God everything was ok and everyone was safe! JSO cleared the scene . It was traumatizing towards the end .

The parking lot is large enough to handle the business and it was clean, it's nicely landscaped, the inside is nice and clean and well-maintained although just a smidge dated.
