First off thanks Yelp Broward and FS8 for the experience! I love Pilates so when the opportunity arises for a Pilates class I'm very excited to partake. It started off to a very rocky start. I was scheduled for a Pilates class yesterday with Jesley. Unfortunately there was a major accident on Cleary Blvd and University Ave where cops shut down everything and made this entire detour that delayed everyone. I was exactly 5mins late to the class. 5mins. The doors were already locked up as if it's going to get robbed and Jesley came and said nope sorry we have a strict policy on lateness and I cannot let you in. I've never seen a Pilates studio turn people away for being 5mins late. And I've been to at least 7 or 8 studios in my lifetime. I also checked their emails to see if this "strict policy" was written to warn people but all I saw them write was a "please arrive 10mins early" but no where in the emails they sent out did it anywhere say they have a strict late policy even by 5mins. Or any late policy. Yes I could understand if you're so late that it's in the middle of the class but 5mins in with a warm up?! C'mon. The class was not full and I'm a Pilates regular and this was a beginner reformer class so I definitely wouldn't have missed out on much and could easily catch up. Anyway that interaction was not welcoming at all and didn't feel like an inclusive community I wanted to join given the way it was handled. I felt very singled out. This was definitely a discretionary thing that could've been handled way differently. It was so frustrating that I had come from Boca and arranged a sitter and everything to be able to take this class. Oh well I guess that's their policy but at least make it a little bit more understanding or empathetic. It felt very cold and I definitely felt unwelcome. Anyway I ended up signing up the next day for another class, this time with Mayara who honestly redeemed my experience at this studio. She was very nice and welcoming and her class was a more strength training intermediate class that combined Pilates and mat exercises. It was a tough class, I sweated a lot and felt like she challenged me. I really appreciated that part of the experience. The studio itself was very interesting, there are no mirrors like most studios have to let you see what you're doing...I think as a suggestion that would be a nice addition to have to the studio. However it was really cool that they had screens that demo's the move your doing and the next move. So in the future maybe both would be nice. Again Mayara was also helpful and came around to fix form and adjust during the class like instructors usually do. I honestly feel like she really redeemed a lot of my opinions on the studio. Hopefully if I were to come back it would be an experience like that and not the feeling of being unwelcome that I truly felt in the beginning. Anyway I hope some of these things they either change or improve on in the future

I took my first class almost 2 months ago and joined! I've enjoyed every class. I've read some of…read morethe reviews before doing so and will give my perspective. With every workout regimen, the start does need to be slow. You have to understand proper form and with Pilates proper breathing technique. Every class I've taken I've learned. I highly recommend taking a private session to better understand form and get individual attention. For me I've enjoyed the instructors. With that said I'll call out a few who have made a great impression so far with the caveat that I have not attended everyone's class: ERIN - Holds a special place in my heart. She was my 1st instructor who is knowledgeable great energy and for her early morning sessions keeps you smiling while making it burn! Eva - Energetic, fun, and engaging. Her spirit is contagious and is another great soul for an early morning class. Pum - will give you the sweetest session. You would want to roll your eyes and want her to stop but will feel bad just thinking about it. Truly enjoy her classes. She's sweet but no joke! Robbin - will tell you how it is, will push you and is all around hardcore! But she does it with passion. Like she says you may not like her after the session but your body will! Xander - he's a party and a whole vibe! I've only attended one of his classes and his cardio sculpture class was pilates meets the ultimate brunch experience! I know you have to experience it on your own to understand. Overall, I'm enjoying my time and look forward to each class.

The intro class is not a full blown class so I recommend trying a Level 1 class if you can to understand what real Pilates feels like. Decent workout but the amount of text messages and calls the give out is crazy. I know that is not franchise based but definitely a little annoying.

Yoga Joint was like my second home and I got along great with the instructors and made sure I was super sweet to the managers and front desk employees. However, over time it became really corporate and impersonal, the classes felt like you were just part of some factory assembly line and the front desk employee turnaround really took a toll on the customer service. Last summer I received a phone call from a manager, Vanesa Gentile, stating that I should probably cancel my membership because I'm 'unsafe' for asking the front desk employees if it's their job to fix the lockers that weren't working properly as they stared at me blankly when I asked for help finding a locker that worked. After trying to discuss this with the higher ups and receiving the corporate runaround, I promptly canceled my membership. I am so glad that the staff was able to return to their safe space! I now see in other reviews below that I'm not the only person that Vanesa has asked to cancel their membership. I miss the old Yoga Joint
