It was a nice treat for brunch and definitely really unique. I'd order it again for sure. Chicken and Waffles - 4.5/5 - one of my favourite dishes and had to have it while I was in Atlanta! They didn't disappoint and it was really tasty. Would definitely come here again if in Atlanta for brunch. Service - 5/5 - We came back in July 2026 (catching up on reviews) and our waitress, Sydney, was such a delight. She was so sweet, had great, prompt service, and she even tried to get us a peach to try (though they didn't have any left) since we were from out of town and wanted to try. Thank you for the memorable experience. Biscuits - 4.5/5 - So yummy and fresh with butter. Loved it. Atmosphere - 5/5 - it was such a unique place, felt like being in someone's home, but as a restaurant, and really liked it... had a very southern feel.

So glad that we made the journey to Mary Macs!…read more First off, the service was just great! I got the fried chicken, which reminded me of Mrs. Knott's Fried Chicken Restaurant in terms of taste/seasonings. It could have a little hotter/fresher as I could tell it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a little bit. For my sides, I went with 'heathy-ish' options with mixed veggies and also a sweet potato soufle, which actually tasted more like a dessert., I also loved the corn bread and rolls. As a first time guest, I'm also glad that they gave us the 'pot likker' which was like a well-seasoned salty broth.

There is a large sign on the side of building. Entering from the street, there is a ramp down to the counter and seating area. Seating is mostly tables with a few stools at the counter. There is a sign above the counter on the right for takeout orders. The menu is simple. It's fried chicken. There are sides like slaw and baked beans with a few appetizers, but mostly it's chicken. Once our order was placed, it only took about ten minutes to get our food. One thing we noticed while waiting was the cook was checking the internal temperature of each piece of chicken as it came out of the fryer. This was very much appreciated and ensured every piece was cooked to perfection. Constant quality checks like that show they take their product seriously and do not rely only on a timer to tell them when it is done. All the chicken was crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. While moist, the meat was not dripping with juices that ran down your arm or left a puddle on your plate. All the flavor was locked into the chicken. The baked beans were good, maybe nothing special but certainly a good accompaniment to the chicken. The slaw was also decent. The mac and cheese was good as well. One note of caution. The chicken seasoning is spicy. If you are used to large chain spicy versions, this is more than that. The flavor is great but the spiciness will get your attention. As long as you are aware of that, you will very much enjoy this chicken.

If you like crazy loopy, different kind of stuff. There's a specific coffee shop and small gift shop in the back with social & environmental conscious products. Even have a film development drop off that I guess locals take advantage of cuz where do you go for that anymore other than some kind of chain pharmacy?. I took pictures for my posting but also for myself to consider coming back and shopping another time. Several of the magnets and signs I would love to own. The food is plentiful and flavorful. I had the daily special of Georgia fresh shrimp sauteed on top of homemade sourdough that had a little bit of a French toast crispy to it, topped with roasted tomatoes and spinach and thin crispy onions that were well seasoned. Most the time for lunch you just hope for something that taste good and this was beyond my wildest dreams of what I was going to eat for lunch today. And it was only $10. The burgers, the fried chicken, the fried shrimp, everything was looking so yummy. I totally have to come back. The place is much bigger than it looks from the front because it extends around the corner behind the counter and they greet you when you come in.

If you're trying to get in and out, I recommend coming with smaller groups, like 2-4 people. I think it'd be chaotic to try and deal with a big party in the basement dining area. The gumbo was piping hot and even burned my tongue a little, but I'm not mad at it at all lol. It was delicious! For my meal, I got the chicken and waffles with mac and cheese, and everything was so good. The chicken was well-seasoned, the waffle was fluffy and delicious, and the mac and cheese was a great addition. I highly recommend coming here! I would definitely suggest making a reservation beforehand, especially if you're coming with a group. The food and experience are absolutely worth the price. Then came the cornbread muffins with the "liquid gold" spun honey. Unbelievable. Hot, crumbly, and easily the best thing on the table. Whoever is running the pastry program in the back understands pure physics. I could've eaten a dozen of those alone. For the entree, I got the Spiced Maple Chicken & Grits - fried chicken tossed in maple hot sauce, grits, two eggs, benton's bacon, and scallions - along with a side biscuit and jam. Complete hit. The chicken had a great crunch, the heat-to-sweet ratio was locked in, and the grits were smooth. Biscuit was flaky and proper, too.
