It does not have a/c which I had read about so I only booked one night. There are fans in the room and I slept fine. I booked an additional night at the front desk once I knew I could manage without the a/c. Free breakfast buffet, very nice. Excellent value for the region.

This was THE BEST hotel stay I had while visiting Switzerland! First things, I booked a single room and was shocked when I walked in to find a queen sized bed. This is really an upgrade from what most other hotels provide to single room bookings. Yes, it was small but well laid out. All the comforts and toiletries were provided. Toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, slippers and so much more. Plus, the bed was insanely comfortable AND the room had great AC. I also loved that they provided a mini fridge and left a cold water everyday. That was a nice little touch. I suppose the only minor issue was the shower/bath tub situation. It was setup rather awkwardly but nothing that couldn't be managed. It wasn't issue enough for me to remove a star! But just a heads up. If you are very tall or have mobility issues, the shower/tub could be a challenge. Otherwise the bathroom was very large and easy to move about in. Other perks here would be the excellent breakfast, onsite restaurant providing guests with a discount, and complimentary bus pass for Interlaken zones. The staff were helpful and kind. I will definitely stay again during my next visit to Interlaken.

There isn't any air conditioning and it was hot. We kept the windows open, no screen, just the curtains to keep the mosquitoes out. We were woken up a few times with street noise, cars driving thru, people talking/laughing loud, and snoring from someone nearby as well as the staff preparing the morning; transferring items from the restaurant across the street to the breakfast hall in the hotel. Needless to say wasn't our best sleep. We ended up extending our stay from 2 days to 3 due to the train ride up the mountain. Our original room wasn't available so we had to move up a category which meant we would have a balcony and a view of the lake. That sounded amazing. Well, the view was but the room was a step down. The sink was not in the bathroom but in the bedroom. There wasn't any space to lay out the morning routine. The breakfast was sufficient. I loved the homemade breads but my husband thought it was the worst on the trip. The coffee machine was nice. Barbara is a hard worker there at breakfast and the restaurant but should work behind the scenes, not with people. We did everything we could to avoid the sour face. It is also the connecting point to Grindelwald Mannilichen gondola cableway and Eiger Glacier The station has extensive parking, shops that sell ski related equipment, cafes and bars. The trains operated smoothly and efficiently carrying thousands of tourists and skiers each year. You can book a ticket through Omio online or buy a ticket at the kiosk ticket booth. There are also busses to Bahnhof Grindwald Grund train station. Masks and social distancing of 2 meters are observed.

If you want a quiet area and plan to go to Harder Kulm, Grindelwald, Jungfrau, and Lauterbrunnen - stay close to Interlaken Ost. If you like shopping, lots of restaurant options, nightlife and plan to take a cruise to Lake Thun a stay close to Interlaken West. If you're taking a train to Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald - be sure to pay attention to the labels on the floor. Everyone good on. The same train number but you don't want to hop on the wrong carriage. The train splits in Zweilütschinen. If you have 1st class ticket, you might want to slum it out in 2nd class on the right carriage or keep walking til you see a 1st class carriage and risk getting left behind! It's just one train ride, you'll live! On the way back to Interlaken Ost, there will be 1st vs 2nd class carriages. If you only paid for 2nd class tickets, do not hop on the 1st class carriage. Yes, there's a lot of people in 2nd class and you'll end up standing because there's no seat available but that doesn't give you the right to go to 1st class. There's always somebody checking your ticket. It made for good entertainment for me guessing who didn't have 1st class tickets but were in the 1st class carriage - I got 3/3 correct! It's always the ones who watch videos on speaker. This is where 1st class tickets become more obviously better. There's always seats in 1st class. It's quieter. There's no store, cafe, restaurant at the station per se. However, you'll find plenty around the station.

Interlaken is well known for all of the activities for thrill-seekers. You can go whitewater…read morerafting, paragliding, and canyon swinging...all with the same company! For this trip, we decided to go canyon swinging in the Glacier Canyon with Outdoor Interlaken. Must be purchased ahead of time! Cancellation policy is pretty flexible with a full refund if cancelled 48 hours before your start time. It's kind of pricey but how often will you get an opportunity to jump and swing through a canyon? There's also an add-on for the GoPro footages but you can decide after swinging through the canyon, which is what we did. You can choose to be picked up in Interlaken or meet at least 5-10 minutes before your start time at Glacier Canyon. For safety reasons, you aren't allowed to bring anything with you unless you're able to zip it up in your pants. If you have prescription glasses, you can bring them and they provide a little baggy to put it in while you swing. Everything is stored in plastic bins which you can pick up outside of the canyon when you're done. The experience starts with a short van ride up to the top of the canyon. Our guide was really friendly and knew what he was doing in terms of safety so it made us feel safer and calmer. The swing itself was like nothing I've done before! It's very nerve wracking when you're at the top and I think the anticipation just makes it a lot worse. The drop itself is only a couple of seconds but feels so much longer. Some of my friends think they blacked out for a second because they don't even remember looking at the canyon while swinging! I would allocate about 2 hours for the experience, especially if you're doing this with a large group. You don't need to wait for the strangers in your group to finish swinging. And afterwards, the canyon is free for you to enjoy! We were able to run out to grab our stuff, grab the complementary drink that was part of the swinging ticket, and go back into the canyon.

Immediate regret after agreeing to this because I was nervous from the moment it was booked, all the way up until the experience was actually over. On the day of our reservation, we were unfortunately a few minutes late due to issues with delayed/cancelled buses, but luckily they waited up for us. The whole process was smooth with getting us checked in and up to the jump point. When you watch the video or look at other people jump from down below, the free fall distance looks so short. But it feels SO long when you're the one jumping! I've gone skydiving multiple times before but never found that scary. This, on the other hand, was so nerve wracking, and I'm not even scared of heights at all. I think the free fall was so scary for me that I squeezed my eyes shut, since I don't remember seeing anything during the free fall. I'd imagine seeing the floor get closer and closer to me would be terrifying. Once the free fall portion is over, you then do a few wide swings back and forth across the canyon before they throw a rope out to you to pull yourself in. This part wasn't scary at all for me and was pretty relaxing as I got to take in the view. Once you're all done, you're free to go see the rest of the canyon area. Once we exited, we were given the option to purchase a video of our experience which got emailed to us a few days later. We also received a complimentary drink ticket that we were able to use next door. Overall, super scary but definitely a fun experience that I'd recommend for any thrill seekers. Outdoor Interlaken also offers a variety of other activities, so check them out for all your outdoorsy needs!
