Interlaken is well known for all of the activities for thrill-seekers. You can go whitewater rafting, paragliding, and canyon swinging...all with the same company! For this trip, we decided to go canyon swinging in the Glacier Canyon with Outdoor Interlaken. Must be purchased ahead of time! Cancellation policy is pretty flexible with a full refund if cancelled 48 hours before your start time. It's kind of pricey but how often will you get an opportunity to jump and swing through a canyon? There's also an add-on for the GoPro footages but you can decide after swinging through the canyon, which is what we did. You can choose to be picked up in Interlaken or meet at least 5-10 minutes before your start time at Glacier Canyon. For safety reasons, you aren't allowed to bring anything with you unless you're able to zip it up in your pants. If you have prescription glasses, you can bring them and they provide a little baggy to put it in while you swing. Everything is stored in plastic bins which you can pick up outside of the canyon when you're done. The experience starts with a short van ride up to the top of the canyon. Our guide was really friendly and knew what he was doing in terms of safety so it made us feel safer and calmer. The swing itself was like nothing I've done before! It's very nerve wracking when you're at the top and I think the anticipation just makes it a lot worse. The drop itself is only a couple of seconds but feels so much longer. Some of my friends think they blacked out for a second because they don't even remember looking at the canyon while swinging! I would allocate about 2 hours for the experience, especially if you're doing this with a large group. You don't need to wait for the strangers in your group to finish swinging. And afterwards, the canyon is free for you to enjoy! We were able to run out to grab our stuff, grab the complementary drink that was part of the swinging ticket, and go back into the canyon. read more

I never imagined I'd ever jump into a canyon, but when my friend sent us a link to the Glacier Canyon Swing with Outdoor Interlaken, it seemed like a one time opportunity so I thought why not? Immediate regret after agreeing to this because I was nervous from the moment it was booked, all the way up until the experience was actually over. On the day of our reservation, we were unfortunately a few minutes late due to issues with delayed/cancelled buses, but luckily they waited up for us. The whole process was smooth with getting us checked in and up to the jump point. When you watch the video or look at other people jump from down below, the free fall distance looks so short. But it feels SO long when you're the one jumping! I've gone skydiving multiple times before but never found that scary. This, on the other hand, was so nerve wracking, and I'm not even scared of heights at all. I think the free fall was so scary for me that I squeezed my eyes shut, since I don't remember seeing anything during the free fall. I'd imagine seeing the floor get closer and closer to me would be terrifying. Once the free fall portion is over, you then do a few wide swings back and forth across the canyon before they throw a rope out to you to pull yourself in. This part wasn't scary at all for me and was pretty relaxing as I got to take in the view. Once you're all done, you're free to go see the rest of the canyon area. Once we exited, we were given the option to purchase a video of our experience which got emailed to us a few days later. We also received a complimentary drink ticket that we were able to use next door. Overall, super scary but definitely a fun experience that I'd recommend for any thrill seekers. STAY AWAY!!! Place is horrible for renting ski and snowboard equipment. I asked for a size 10 boot, they gave me a 9.5 and told me it should be extremely tight even though I said it was uncomfortable. When I got to the mountain and started snowboarding, I realized I could not turn my board, they DO NOT sharpen the boards which is extremely unsafe. Half down the mountain my foot was in excruciating pain, i had to get off my snowboard and walk down the mountain and end my day on the mountain. When I returned the gear they said it was my fault for not having the correct boots and when I told them about the unsharpen snowboard they made it like i had no idea what I was talking about. Extremely unprofessional and a waste of money. Many other places to rent gear DO NOT COME HERE! read more

I got bad welts on my leg after wearing their wetsuit for a canyoning trip. They hand you a wetsuit before you go and don't give you a chance to try it on before you get to the canyon. I'm writing this in case this happens to someone else. read more

10/10!!! Me and the boyfriend went canyon swinging for my birthday and it was a blast!! You meet at the main location in town. Take a beautiful 30min drive up an amazingly beautiful mountain. You can see the North Face (you know where people have died in the Swiss Alps). The swing is where a glacier use to be (BOO! global warming). I am usually amped for adrenaline, and I was- until I looked down. There were 4 of us, and of course they made this wild American go 1st. Thought I would jump with no hands. Then, I looked down. Got a little scared. Giggled. Then scared the other jumpers by being scared. Finally, I did it. Held with 1 hand till I realized I was totally safe and then just went with it!! You fall 50 meters from in between these canyon walls then swing at 120km/hr. There is a fresh river flowing below you, the beautiful sky above you, the canyon walls to each side of you. And you are just swinging in earths beauty!!! Our tour guides (Steph and Mustard) were fun, funny, and made us feel safe. We got it all on tape! I wish I had more time to do more of the extreme sports at Outdoor Interlaken (paragliding, bungee-jumping, etc). The price was perfect too (149chf per person). It is worth it for the 10-15 min swing, rush, the 30min ride back and fourth, and the experience. These guys were great to deal with. Picked me up at my hotel and took me to their shop nearby. Got me outfitted with skis and other equipment, a lift and rail ticket, and made some recommendations on places to go. At the end of my holiday they picked up the equipment directly from the hotel equipment room. I didn't have to sign anything, or lug skis and boots back to their shop. They were great! read more

Terrible business. Terrible service. Me and my roommate are on a BUZZ tour trip (do not recommend) after our graduation and we were very excited to come to interlaken and do the Outdoor activities until we had a situation with bed bugs and we got several bites and we got severely sick (all three different situations) so we called their services a day before telling them about the unfortunate situation and they told us to get A DOCTORS note (to get a full refund) so we went to the pharmacies and we got several medications with receipts AND two different doctor notes. One for me and one for my friend. After emailing these doctor notes to them (as they advised) they switched their word and said it needs to be a SWISS doctor. We are from the states and don't know our way around (hospitals are far walks). After being on the phone with them for hours and hours, we found a walk in clinic to get a doctor's note from. After walking 40 minutes we go to the clinic and it is closed. We call Outdoor activities again to ask if they can at least look at the PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS we are taking but they continued to be rude and hang up. We paid a lot of money for this activity and it was a shame we couldn't get partially refunded. They refused us service and were very rude even after we understood the regulations of their company. It seemed as if they only wanted our money. They also threatened to charge us more money if we didn't comply with them. They don't deserve business. This was very sad. read more

First time canyoning and it was in the swiss alps! Can't really beat that. I don't think there was a enough prior training before getting to the rough parts of the trip...and the guides seemed a bit reckless...and handsy. Often times inappropriately grabbing myself and my friends in the guise of "helping". There was also confusing between buying the video of the trip online beforehand and there! If you purchased after...it was cheaper, but they did refund us the price so I can't complain. The video however clearly isn't just you...it's clips of you (if any) from the trip attached to clips of EVERYONE else that purchases the video package...so you can't just buy one and share with your friends :( read more

Outdoor Interlaken gave us a great Canyoning experience, certainly worth the cost! We initially signed up for the Chile Schliri canyoning trip, but a storm made that canyon too dangerous for a tour. So, the company called us (my wife and I) and informed us that we could switch to Canyon Grismel, which we did. The tour was less, so they refunded us the difference. Our guides were funny, spirited, and knowledgable, making the tour very fun. The tour consisted of a 30 minute drive to the location, 1.5 hours of canyoning, lunch, and then another 30 minute drive back to Interlaken. I would recommend this tour, though supposedly Chile Schliri is better - so go for that one if you can! read more

First let me say that Interlaken, Switzerland is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Its an amazing mountain town filled with adventure. I went in 2007 and I loved it so much I decided to go back years later. The town is right next to two gorgeous lakes and surrounded by the snow capped Swiss Alps. The town itself is very charming. There are a ton of outdoor activities to do such as hiking, skiing, ice climbing, parasailing, white water rafting, ropes course, canyoning...ect. Too much to even list. This review focuses solely on Canyoning through the company Outdoor Interlaken. For those unfamiliar with the term canyoning its essentially you getting from the top of a mountain to the bottom traveling only though a canyon. It entails rappelling, cliff jumping, natural water slides, hiking, climbing, and swimming. You meet at a base camp and a bus drives you up the mountain which is quite scenic. When arriving you throw on your wetsuit and boots and hike for a mile or so to the jumping off point. I must say you need to be in good shape to do this. You better be working out consistently, have some decent lungs, and be agile. The hike alone was a bit tiring and i work out 4-5 times per week. Once you get to the top the fun starts. Insane natural water slides carved into the rock from millions of years of water flow. The slides are as smooth as a man made water slide and they dump you out into little natural pools. There are some serious cliff jumps as well. 20-30 feet and the radius you need to land in has to be precise or you're landing on rocks. Rappelling is necessary a few times throughout the trip aka lowering your self through a waterfall with a harness and a rope, very exciting. It's a pretty dangerous commercial activity. I would bet a fair amount of people get injured. I found the training to be sufficient though and the instructors were motivating and led by example. Before hitting the mountain they prepared us and then before each exercise they reminded us of our training and then they executed the exercise themselves to show us the proper way to do it. Do not give this company your money. Horrible customer service. They are simply a middle man, you can book your activities directly with the company that does the actual activities. Horrible service all the ski instructors are extremely rude do not recommend to anyone. Please save your self the time and money and just rent your own ski equipment. This was probably the WORST encounter I ever had on my vacation. The employees were trying to force us to raft in unsafe weather. There were thunderstorms and heavy rain. We talked to a certified instructor who said it was not safe to go as well. When we asked to cancel, they became angry and kicked us out of the store and would not let us leave. He made fake phone calls with the police. He was trying to intimidate us. We could see his phone; he was calling his home screen. Ordered the ultimate adventure package and swapped paragliding with hang gliding. Booking the trip was EASY. I paid in advance. Didn't like the exchange rate so she reversed the charge, let me keep my reservation, and pay on arrival. Excursion was organized, fun, and WORTH IT. We canyoned Chli Schliere on day one. Kurt & Stan were friendly, professional, patient & kind. I would recommend using this company for any outdoor activity you plan on doing near Interlaken. The video is of everyone's your group but at the end of the day we were like family. We all went out to dinner together and had drinks...exchanged contact info. I loved it. English wasn't a language barrier for us. There is paid parking near by. For water activities, bring slippers. Thank you all! read more

Fast friendly service to rent skiis and buy a ski pass. Bonus is that the shop is open till 7pm in the winter and also open on Sundays.

A large, inexperienced group of us went snowshoeing with Outdoor Interlaken. The staff was very efficient and helpful with rentals and putting on snow shoes. Ronnie and Mustard were our excellent guides who helped us have a safe but fun adventure through the Alps. This place is the best! We were able to rent skis, helmets, and get our ski passes the afternoon before we headed out to the slopes. This company employs people from all over the world. The two guys we talked to were super nice and spoke great English. They gave us their honest travel tips for the area and they were nice enough to give us a ride back to our AirBnb with their Outdoor Interlaken van. You can't put a price on that kind of generosity. I was visiting Interlaken with some friends and we decided to purchase the ski rental/day pass package from them. The customer service at the front was not great, as they were not accommodating to us as a group at all, and then the next day when we were out there skiing we had multiple issues with the equipment. One of the bindings on someone's snowboard just completely broke and he missed out on half the day and then another pair of skis continually had issues with the boots. Overall, I was happy with the price but the customer service and quality of the equipment was terrible. read more
