Not a fan of this place, although I've tried it multiple times to give it a chance. The flavors aren't great - sometimes they don't taste at all like what they're supposed to be. I've had chunks of something inedible that didn't break down in my yogurt once and threw it away. Last time I was there, I asked for the mochi to be refilled, and the worker was wearing gloves and holding a bucket with cleaning solution in one hand and handled the new mochi while still holding the cleaning solution and wearing the same gloves. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! Given I come here so often. I've only ever had froyo and boba here, so I can only speak on that front. The boba sucks. The milk tea is okay (and by okay I mean, it's really powdered and awful but atleast this place has boba so i'm not complaining too much). The bubbles are absolutely atrocious. I usually come to get Taro (if I'm really craving boba and am willing to sacrifice quality) or the Hot Red Bean (which is genuinely decent!). The froyo is actually pretty good. They do a really good job with rotating flavors, unlike Twist/Sketch. I"m not a toppings heavy sort of person, so I tend to prefer Fruity Yogurt. They do awesome seasonal flavors. The consistency of the froyo is definitely more ice creamy-like than really froyo that you expect, tart-ish sour and frozen. But I like it better creamy, so Fruity Yogurt is really my go-to for froyo. The service is awesome. Remember to bring cash! There's a $5 cash minimum last time I checked. read more

They all tasted like their namesakes but also maintained the tartness you expect from a yogurt product. Topics are varied, plentiful, and fresh. 45 cents per ounce is just right. A generous serving with toppings is under $4.50 (including tax). I think L K is overstating the poor atmosphere at Twist, but I did find the staff to be extremely polite and helpful; they offered me a free sample of the flavors and one listed all the presidents since Truman. read more

3.5 stars. Rounding up for being open late. Usually I rate things purely on the quality of the food, but this time, I'm rating it as a hangout place. And it's pretty good. It's like that good old reliable friend who is always there for you, even when you want to go for a late night froyo run at 11 PM. Because they are open (until 11:30), unlike most of Nassau. The yogurt here is fine ($0.49/oz). It's cheaper than Twist, but I feel like Twist yogurt is a bit better. Still, they have some interesting flavors and they give you small sampling cups to try them, so the yogurt end is fine. My go-to is Taro, and for a period of time they had black sesame, which was quite unusual (though I liked it). The toppings is where they fall a bit flat because they don't have a great selection of fruit. Mainly, they don't have any blueberries, blackberries, etc. And Twist has blueberries, so that's where they trump over Fruity Yogurt. They also offer bubble tea, which I've been told is just decent (but you have no other options) and shaved ice, which I've been told is quite good. So, in terms of pure froyo quality and experience, I think the general consensus is Twist (among the people I talk to, Fruity Yogurt is seen as the cheaper, lower quality alternative), but Twist is not as conducive to hanging out in a large group at 11 PM as Fruity Yogurt is. read more

Honestly, the best relaxed go-to place to catch up with a friend for a nice ambience and reasonably priced dessert/drink. Princeton's Fruity Yogurt in particular is careful with their consistency in the bubble tea, and their flavors are almost always on point: you can't go wrong with green tea bubble tea. For the froyos, you can take your own toppings which is fun. However, would not recommend the honey dew frozen yogurt, but definite recommendations: taro and mango. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. The environment is friendly and bubbly, the staff is great, and the drinks/froyo are amazing. I love coming here when I'm back home, especially in the summer. It's definitely nice to drop on in because they have AC and ice cold drinks. You can also get our boba drinks hot during the winter, so it's great to have an all year round froyo and bubble tea place. Francisco is my absolute FAVORITE. He makes great conversations and always remembers us. If you drop by, tell him we all say hello! The prices are a little on the high side, but it's definitely worth it. I have such mixed feelings about this. It was a hot afternoon in summer and I saw that they sold shave ice, and since I love those, I jumped right on in. When I first got walked in, there was one person ahead of me placing an order. By the time I stepped up, other people had walked in and the young man behind the counter began to get overwhelmed. There was someone in the back who did not come out to aid him. I was even getting annoyed at the sight of him having to work on his own with a line getting longer and longer. When the woman finally came out from the back, I realized that it was not another young person as I previously thought, but a woman who is probably an elder family member --- maybe even the young man's mother. It was then that I understood that despite his frustrations, he was not able to say anything, or rather, ask her for help when the line became uncontrollable. I presume he was showing her respect. I guess. It doesn't look good from the customer perspective though. The last thing I will say I like the shave ice --- the consistency --- not sure if they use a machine. I like the containers. Let me start by saying that as a student in the area who loves frozen yogurt and boba, there really isn't much of a choice of where to go. To me, Fruity Yogurt far surpasses Sketch (the other froyo place on Nassau), in taste, options, price, and ambiance. Fruity's flavors are diverse - my favorites are taro (always on tap) and lychee (not always on tap). The toppings are varied too - you have your typical ice cream toppings, candy, fruit, as well as mochi, pop boba and assorted jelly. I also love their milk tea boba (if you want a less sweet option, try the matcha milk tea boba). The taste is actually great compared to what I've had elsewhere. I do wish they had a smaller size though, because the one size offered is huge. The price is proportional to the high price of food in the area but decent compared to the other dessert options. Ambiance is bright, colorful, and happy. There's always top 40 music playing though - not always my thing when trying to catch up with friends. Maybe it's because it's the only decent option in town or maybe it's because it's just that good, but this is my go-to dessert place! read more

Went here for some boba and yogurt after watching the sunset. There new COVID adjustments are amazing and safe, hand sanitizers and gloves provided at the door, face mask requirements. If you were to use the yogurt machines you had to wear a glove and also the toppings is self serve with a single spoon so that it can be washed inbetween uses. I got the nutella ice cream and it was soo good and chocolatey . they accept cash but prefer a card to limit contact between employees and customers. the employees were very nice and helpful! definitely recommended this place read more

This is probably the best place to get bubble tea. Every single time my significant other and I come to Princeton, we always stop here. The Taro bubble tea is my favorite with it being slightly sweet and delicious. The frozen yogurt is also delicious. Each flavor tastes fresh and not overly sugary. All the toppings are fresh and even with a full cup of frozen yogurt, it never seems to be more than $6. Everything is a great price and always delicious. read more

Every store has their specialty and Fruity Yogurt's is NOT bubble tea. As bubble tea, being a commodity (I guess to satisfy Princeton's large Asian population), is starting to appear in multiple stores in Princeton, it's hard to seek out the best one. I've found that Fruity Yogurt, despite being around for several years now, have yet to find the right balance between sweet and sour in their drinks. I could barely get a couple sips down when I ordered it. Well moving onto their frozen yogurt, (after all, their name IS "Fruity YOGURT") there's really not much to say about it because seeing as how they're the only yogurt store in Princeton, there really isn't that much competition or comparison. However, their toppings are definitely not fresh. Their cookie related toppings are often stale, their gummies are incredibly hard and you basically taste the expiration date in their chocolate treats. Overall, if you ever find yourself, for whatever reason, desperately craving frozen yogurt (although I don't see why...there are literally 5 different ice cream parlors within a one mile radius), by all means, go to Fruity Yogurt. Of all the places I've reviewed on Yelp, Fruity Yogurt is by far my favorite!! As a Pton student with a big sweet tooth, I used to be a huge Twist fan, at least until Fruity Yogurt (on Nassau beside CVS) came along. Fruity Yogurt wins hands down, and here's why: COST: Twist is way too expensive, so I used to go less often for froyo but now that I've tried the lower prices at Fruity Yogurt, I get to satisfy my froyo cravings every week!! :) Ahhh I'm so happy haha. VARIETY: There's something for everyone at Fruity Yogurt... it's like Twist but better, more types of fro-yo, more creative flavors, and more depth to the flavors too, and that's just talking about the frozen yogurt. Honeydew, Coconut, Acai Berry, Tart (SO good, despite being a plain yogurt flavor!), Taro (I can't believe there's Taro in a place like Pton!), Cookies n' Cream, and more... and SO many toppings! They also serve the best bubble teas I've had here on the East Coast... it's so hard to do well and I'm so impressed! Just try it and you'll know... it's hard to explain. Twist only has eight types of fro-yo, and I only like two of them consistently. No smoothies or slushies or shaved ice desserts or bubble tea or regular teas. Step it up, Twist! TASTE: This is where Fruity Yogurt beats out Twist most of all, hands down. Fruity Yogurt uses majority yogurt in its recipes, and it's milk-free in all but two flavors (Cookies n' Cream and Green Tea)... this is great and MUCH healthier than froyo that is majority milk-based. Less preservatives and natural food coloring too! I used to be a big fan of Twist but now that I know what the flavors can be like in froyo, I'll never go back unless they change their recipes. ATMOSPHERE: At Twist I've sometimes had the displeasure of having to sit near really loud and annoying high schoolers (I guess it's a popular place for them?!) and waiting in line behind these people makes me want to gauge my eyes out. What's the point of being in a college town if I have to run into obnoxious high schoolers when I'm looking for a relaxing treat? I like the music at Fruity Yogurt more, and I've never had trouble finding a seat. I like how Twist has board games and cool art on the walls, but it doesn't overcome the other cons for me. It would help if Fruity Yogurt had bigger tables and board games, though, so people could hang out. On the other hand, the majority of its business seems to be people who do takeout. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Fruity Yogurt wins hand down. Twist stole the former cashier at Fruity Yogurt by offering her a manager position. I saw her working at Twist after being at Fruity Yogurt as the cashier weeks earlier; and that was the last time I went to Twist (I used to go just for the Eurotart flavor). I spoke to the manager at Fruity Yogurt and mentioned that cashier thing, and she confirmed it. That's really lame, and one of the main reasons why I would refuse to go to Twist even if Fruity Yogurt somehow moved elsewhere. More importantly, the customer service at Fruity Yogurt is AWESOME. Definitely the best... do befriend the manager and people who make the teas there... they are so much fun and my boyfriend and I ended up talking for twenty minutes with them. What a pleasure! THE VERDICT? Save your money and go to Fruity Yogurt for more froyo variety, better taste, more for your money, and greater dessert and beverage options! I'm always in a mood for bubble tea, especially since Fruity Yogurt offers a wonderful selection of flavors ranging from fruity to milky to chocolatey and of toppings including the basic tapiocas and fruit jelly (to name a few). Even though they don't accept tips, the employees have a lovely smile and friendly attitude making me feel good and want to come back here again and again! This place is good! Cheaper and better than Twist down the street, for sure. Their green tea froyo is heavenly - thick, creamy, and not too sweet. I'm also a huge fan of their Pumpkin and Taro flavors - their tart is a bit lacking but overall the yogurt is pretty good, both taste and texture-wise. They have an awesome array of toppings, including a lot of traditional 'shaved ice' toppings like red bean, congee, tapioca, and more. Besides froyo, they also have bubble tea, hot and cold and in a ridiculous number of flavors, as well as smoothies (you can make your own!), and shaved ice (unlimited toppings!). The owners and workers are very very friendly and are always willing to give out yogurt samples and modify stuff to your tastes. I hope this place is here to stay! read more

I walk in here, the week it opens, and I'm bombarded with "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" Coupons. Literally. BOMBARDED. With over twenty little coupons and, for some unfathomable reason, I'VE LOST THEM. Oh well. There are only a few reasons why I even bother coming over here: 1. This stuff's cheap 2. Pop Boba 3. Mochi I can see the artificial dye injected into the frozen yogurt; don't kid me. Of the several non-ice cream dessert alternatives (Twist, Ricky's, House of Cupcakes, etc) in Princeton, Fruity Yogurt is the best. Fruity Yogurt does with its yogurt what nearby Bent Spoon does for its ice cream: create new flavors. Whereas Twist offers rather traditional flavors like Vanilla Bean that appeal to kids, Fruity Yogurt has a constantly-changing array of flavors that are unique, like taro. Avoid stocking up on toppings and instead appreciate the quality and consistency of the yogurt. It is not watery and thin the way Twist makes it; it is thicker and fuller with flavor, although it still cannot compare with actual ice cream or gelato.. this is a consequence of frozen yogurt in general, not Fruity Yogurt's quality. On the upside, that slight loss in flavor intensity means a whole lot less calories.. Another reason not to stock up on M&Ms or other candies.. Go for the lychee, red bean, or other natural toppings for a real healthy, tasty experience. OMFG. It breaks my heart to say that the bubble tea there is awful - definitely the worst I've had in my life. I got the kiwi "fruit tea" (I think they called it that). Anyway, it's just horrible, don't even bother to guess if it's from powder (it is!). Some bubbles were neon pink (c'mon, neon pink?! wtf?!). I couldn't taste the tea or the "kiwi". It tasted just like bright green sugary (I repeat, very sugary) water with some sour artificial flavoring and coloring. I love bubble tea, but this just felt like drinking poison. Nope, couldn't finish the drink (ended up throwing it away)... *tears* Okay, why I said that it breaks my heart?! Because the atmosphere is okay (regular froyo shop atmosphere, whatever that is) and apparently that's the only place to get bubble tea in town.. -gave two stars because the froyo can't be that bad even though I didn't try it. They have a wide selection of yummy toppings, you name it, they have it, from gummy worms to mochi....Their frozen yogurt is DELICIOUS and refreshing, and its only 20 calories per ounce! The tapioca is very chewy (which I like), and there are a zillion toppings ranging from your more standard ice cream/yogurt fare, to jellies and other... less familiar things. The froyo here is pretty good, and I really like that they rotate a variety of flavors, like coconut and taro, in addition to stocking greek yogurt options. I tried a trio of coconut, cheesecake, and taro, which was pretty good, especially with the toasted coconut topping and whipped cream. In terms of quality, I still like Red Mango more but I am definitely a fan of the coconut and taro varieties here. The cheesecake wasn't very creamy and didn't really taste like cheesecake. The staff were pretty friendly and I personally liked that you can pick your spoon color because, ya know, you have to coordinate that with your purse color(just kidding...kinda). I love frozen yogurt so it's always exciting to try out new places. The selection of frozen yogurt at Fruity Yogurt is average for a self-serve froyo shop though I think they rotate flavours in and out for variety's sake. They have "regular" flavours like plain, vanilla, and chocolate, but also some more interesting flavours like pumpkin and black sesame, both of which I tried in addition to the plain during my visit. Of the three, the black sesame was my favorite; it's nutty, earthy, smooth, and worth trying if you want something different. The pumpkin was good though I've definitely had better. It also felt kind of out of season now that it's spring and getting warm as the spices definitely made it more of an autumn flavour. The plain yogurt was disappointing unfortunately. It was tart, which I like, but it was also icy and didn't melt smoothly, which I did not like. In addition to the froyo, there is a vast toppings bar to personalize your dessert with - definitely one of the bigger selections I've seen. In addition to toppings like granola and M&Ms, they also had really Asian toppings like red bean paste and decent mochi. My favorite topping however was the "popping boba" which are liquid filled jelly spheres that you pop in your mouth as you chew. They seem strange but the novelty value is unbeatable. I'd buy a cup of only boba actually haha. The froyo is 49 cents an ounce which is on the higher side for self-serve places but the flexibility of mixing flavours and toppings helps.
