We bought good quality jackets, dresses, pajamas from here from bunch of shops. Also got lots of souvenirs at least than half of price compared to stores in malls and airports. There are many bakery and restaurants near the streets. All selling amazing and delicious looking HK style foods. We had some quick bites while shopping, all tasted so good. I'd highly recommended this area to all tourists looking to pack up their luggage with lots of shopping.

This independently owned supermarket (there are a few scatter around the city) became known to the…read morepublic a few years ago when the movement against economic monopoly by mega real estate developers took place a few years ago. Up until today there are still a handful of hard core anti-monopoly activists who had sworn to never buy from the multi-zillionaire developers. Compare to mega chain supermarkets in every street corner, this place is way less organized, their staff are much older and less prettier, no home delivery and cash only. And for all these criteria you pay less for their things on the shelves. It's the perfect spot for bargain hunters and smart shoppers. If you are on a budget or have many mouths to feed, you've found the right place.

Some vendors had roasted meats like whole chickens and slabs of cha siu. We were able to find this market via Yelp and Google Maps. The MTR Mong Kok Station was nearby and there even was an elevator! Fa Yuen Street Market and Food Centre is actually what it is and for a moment had us confused thinking this was we were looking for and as we peeked in and saw some roast chicken and various other foods along with a lot of folks looks like a place that many flock over and what hungry fellow wouldn't myself as well which I'm usually curious but it wasn't what we were looking for though browsing is always a fun adventure for this shopaholic shopping is my real vibe. Discovered on a recent walk-about, I found that the North Point tram ends in the centre of this amazing wet market, which to be fair has its fair share of dry! So the wet side, as expected, caters the food angle, with an amazing variety of fruits, vegetables, and meats. Beware that the butchery is right in front of you, so if you are of a delicate "veggie" constitution, like the lovely Mrs L, you may want to turn away now...! I find a small handkerchief with a spray of something floral takes the edge off the meaty smells. On the veggie side of the scale, you will not be disappointed. The variety and freshness of the produce is so brilliant, I don't think I want to ever shop in Wellcome again! You really need to take a look for yourself and see. Beyond the wet side, there are also a number of "dry" stalls, selling clothes, bags, toys. It's basically like Ladies Market in Mong Kok, but set along a much wider street, so you don't feel like you are being squeezed into the consumer sausage machine. The goods are not the classic fake LV bags of Mong Kok, but there are loads of cheap bits, like gents swimmers for only HKD20. If you only wore them once they would still be a bargain! There is also a lot of ladies underwear for sale, but it does look a bit polyester, so perhaps not the best for HK! What it could do with is a few more cooked food places, you know, like street food. However, if you feel peckish, you could duck out easily onto King's Road and get a burger.
