So naturally, we brought our two little dogs and grabbed a spot on the patio. My wife and I both got beer flights, and we were really impressed with quite a few of the beers. We're pretty picky when it comes to sours, but the Cherry Cheesecake Sour and Guava Sour were standouts for us. Both were fantastic and easily some of our favourites of the flight. For food, I went with the Smoked Mac & Cheese. It was a little soupy underneath the top layer of cheese, but it still had an awesome smoky flavour, especially with the brisket mixed in. The BBQ drizzle was awesome and sweet too. Overall, I really enjoyed it. My wife got the Fish Tacos. She enjoyed the flavour, although she's had better fish tacos elsewhere. They became soggy pretty quickly, but she still liked them overall. Unfortunately, what really put a damper on our visit was an interaction involving our dogs. At one point, a couple with dogs came onto the patio. Our dogs barked as they walked by, and one of their dogs was also pretty reactive, which actually made us feel a little better because we knew we weren't the only ones dealing with that. However, we were later told by staff that we'd have to leave if our dogs continued barking. We've visited a lot of dog-friendly breweries and patios, and we've honestly never had this issue before. We completely understand that excessive barking can disturb other customers, and we're always responsible for our dogs, but being told we'd have to leave really rubbed us the wrong way, especially in a place that advertises itself as dog-friendly. What made it worse was that we immediately felt anxious and uncomfortable for the rest of our visit. Instead of being able to relax and enjoy our food, we felt like we had to rush through the rest of our meal because we were worried our dogs might bark again and we'd be asked to leave. It really wasn't a good feeling at all, and unfortunately it took away a lot of the enjoyment from what had otherwise been a nice visit. What's frustrating is that the staff themselves were actually very, very nice. I had a great conversation with one of the employees and have nothing bad to say about the people working there. It was specifically the handling of the dog situation that really disappointed us. If you're going to advertise yourself as dog-friendly, we feel there should be a reasonable expectation that dogs are going to...well, act like dogs sometimes. The beer was excellent, the food was good, and the staff were friendly, but unfortunately that interaction and the anxiety it caused for the remainder of our meal...brought our overall rating way down. He seemed rather appaled that he had made a mistake like that, given he was plant based himself. Perhaps it was me not being assertive enough, or perhaps something was missed when the order was taken, either way immediate action was taken to quickly rectify the situation. And it was awesome! This to me, bespeaks of going above and beyond, which is something I resonate strongly with because I am that type of way myself. Would definitely return.

I had my initial hesitations thinking it might be some basic pub food. Who knew this restaurant out in Gravenhurst is better than many Toronto restaurants in the city. One of my fav meals in a while. The Oar recently undergone a new concept change to Lamorna. While they still kept the Oar as their name given the familiarity and reputation of the previous restaurant concept, the menu and indoor decor has completely changed with a new chef in the last couple months. The menu is farm to table and it rotates weekly, and I can really taste the difference, which explains the more premium but reasonable price. Note a burger will always be on the menu and we really like their dry age burger, rich and the accompanying (what looks like hand/in-house cut) fries are so delicious, I wouldn't mind ordering more on the side. We also dined at their outdoor patio so our pups could dine with us. They so kindly brought over a water bowl for the dogs too! Towards the end of the meal, chef Ben came out personally to greet us and we can feel the passion and care he puts into his food. We asked about how he came to this restaurant and his inspo for his food and he told us it's from his travels. eg. why the schnitzel is thicker because he enjoys the thick katsu he had from Japan. He told us he recently sold two of his restaurants and decided to head up this restaurant after his travels. The chef actually goes around and sources ingredients directly from the farms and locally. We also appreciated the fresh pasta and thick cut schnitzel. We also absolutely love the eggplant and the croquettes too. Actually everything we had was a highlight and that's rare for me to find all the dishes impressive at a restaurant. Highly recommend order their bread service so you can use the bread to clean up the sauces from the remaining plates, as it's not included by default. I also love the charm of the plates and cutlery. They open a box of different knives you can pick a knife to use all vintage/second-hand and gave the feel that it's from grandma's home. Highly recommend this spot! At least there was plenty of horseradish to counteract the saltiness. The buttery mashed potatoes seem to have chunks of the spuds added into the mash giving the side a nice contrast. On the other hand, the asparagus became mush as it's served under the meat, and the Yorkshire pudding was airy but dry. I guess you can't win them all. The Old Station House doesn't take reservations, but fair-weather months offers additional seating along their wrap around porch along with their rustic dining room. Still, I'd recommend visiting early (or much later) to avoid disappointment, especially if you're in the mood for prime rib that's subject to availability.

Last time it was an overcooked hot chicken sandwich and had run out of pop. This time I went for their house burger and fries. Burger overcooked slightly and I asked for no dill pickles, but found out I got them anyhow when I took a bite. Everyone looked rushed on this end of season heat wave that brought out a bunch of people. Washroom was clean. I will go again, hopefully they will get to a five star casual restaurant.

We each ordered a burger and it was great; nothing fancy but each topping was fresh. The bartender even remembered I ordered a side of pickles and rushed them to me. We enjoyed talking to the bartender and other patrons while passing through but if I were a local, this would be my second home. PS the patrons said the wings were the best thing in the menu.
