I don't know if the girls working there are trying to swindle your money or are just unaware of the prices. I ordered 2 items one being $9.50 and the other $7.50. The girl charged me over $26. I do not know how they got to the price. I clarified what I ordered and the prices listed and they said "yeah." When I asked how that added up to over $26 they said it was the "computer tax" however they were using an old cash register. I said "so the tax is around 40%?" and the girl said yes and just stared at me. I paid in cash and they told me they didn't have a receipt for me. The line behind me was long and I had already waited 40 minutes with my kids and husband in the car so I paid it and left. I don't know if I was just ignorant of some taxes or if there is more to it. read more

Tuesday afternoon, after walking around Seaside in some fairly intense heat, I decided to try Frost Bites, which I'd seen recommended and wanted something to cool me down, and I love the entire concept of the Airstream row of food trucks, as well as like to support local businesses. Overall, I was a bit overwhelmed. The woman who waited on me seemed very impatient, although I was the only customer, and frankly, a bit bored with my questions and the time I was taking to decide on a flavor (they have tons, so sue me, I'm a Libra and we can get like that sometimes when presented with too many choices apparently!) I ordered a small snow cone with the root beer flavoring. It was good, but not great, and was pretty darned expensive considering that it's shaved ice and some flavoring. I'll probably try them again on a future trip to the area and try another flavor, only because it really is the perfect "dessert" to cool you down on a hot day. Hopefully I'll land on a better flavor next time and have a server who is a bit friendly and accommodating. read more

After a fantastic dinner at neighboring food truck, Meltdown on 30A, and a short walk, I was ready for dessert. I waited semi-patiently in line for a tasty treat from Frost Bites. Their menu is very extensive with endless flavor options - making my decision complicated. I chose to get a strawberry cheesecake shaved ice and make it piggly wiggly. What does piggly wiggly mean you ask? The cup is stuffed with custard, then filled with the shave ice/flavoring, covered with some cream and topped with a cute little pig gummy candy. The combination of custard and shave ice together is OH SO GOOD! If you want to pass on the cream and gummy, you can get your shave ice stuffed with just the custard. Be warned - there is a minimum for card payments, I want to say it was $10-$20. If you need to satisfy your sweet tooth, look no further! read more

Delicious! We got a coconut and black raspberry and an "oh well". We asked the young lady to make her favorite and she called it the "oh well" she said "ok, but if you don't like it, then oh well!" This is fine shave ice. The ice is actually shaved, and not packed in small chunks as the other 'Sno Ball' ice cone stands. The air stream trailer is located on the main street of Seaside and the first to get your attention. I selected the Bahama Mama shave ice in size small, which I believe contained orange, pineapple, and coconut syrup. Electing to get the custard bottom for an additional $1, the total cost of the dish was $7. It was very light and sweet, without being overly syrup-y, but in the humid weather it all melted in an instant before it was enjoyed entirely. To my memory, this was one of the most costly shave ice I can remember. Pro tip: get the size small, it's enough to split between two people before you lose it all to the tropical sun. read more

While on vacation the in-laws suggested that we load up and try this absolutely amazing place. So all 17 of us traveled to Frost Bites and, after fighting to find a parking spot, we all descended on the food trucks ordering window. The lady working the window knew we were unfamiliar with the order process and was extremely helpful in helping us order our Piggly Wiggly's. After we paid our part (Nearly $60) we sat down to eat this pricey treat that simply wasn't all that it was hyped up to be.
