Went into the credit union requesting to finally see a live person. Finally met Jackie who came across as very insincere with my concerns and compared her home issues with mine. That was the yuck point where I shm and declined to proceed with my request for a HELOC. She profusely apologized for the delays and kept blaming my employer for their incompetence. HORRIBLE AND I MEAN THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER HEARD OF. My daughter is active duty military and has a loan thru this company for her vehicle. They stated at first that the would not do a split payment to be paid on her pay cycle with the military then all of a sudden decided they could do it. They charge her a late fee ever single month and that late fee has never been the same. They call her 50 times a day if her payment is 1 day late. She made a payment on July 14 and on July 24th they repossessed her vehicle with her children's car seats in the vehicle along with her purse, identifications, and everything else in her vehicle. When she called to get answers they refused to give her any answers passing the buck onto another person. I was on the phone with her when she called to get answers and Maria refused to answer any questions because she had me on the phone with her. Maria wouldn't give us Andre Serano's number or extension to contact him directly and would only put her thru to his voice-mail. They are telling her they require a payment to be made 10 days before her due date. The worst loan company I have ever heard of in my life, the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life, and the rudest most unprofessional employees I have ever come in contact with ever!!! This place should be shut down and everyone fired because of their unprofessionalism. How can u have a mission statement stating u stand behind the military yet will screw over a mother of 2 small children who is active duty. Terrible customer service. Called phone number in hold for 15-20 x 6 calls before I hit a real person. Finally got someone and no answers to my problem! Told me to go to another credit unions atm! My main branch is closed for remodeling for at least 3 months, other branches are too far away for convenience. They are spending millions on rebranding, remodeling and advertising, yet basic customer service and customer concerns are sub- standard at best! I advise anyone looking into Frontwave to move in to a more established credit union. Too hokey for me and extremely frustrating! read more

Pacific Marine Credit Union was great. But Frontwave is awful. The new website/online banking is the absolute worst I have ever experienced. I a different bank for my main finances but use Frontwave for a savings account. I called yesterday to figure out why I had not received my 1099 for taxes - or really how I could get it, since it wasn't available online. I was told that they couldn't help me and someone would call me back in 24 hours. Really? this is a really straightforward request. Why does someone have to call me back to help me with this? 24 hours later, still no call. I call them back. I should mention that both times I was on hold to talk to someone for more than 5 minutes. This time the person says she can take care of this and have it mailed to me. Oh, but wait, she doesn't see a form for me. Exactly, if I had seen the form I could have gotten it myself. Then she ponders that maybe I don't need one and tells me that you only get a 1099 if you made more than $10 in interest. Okay. Good information (someone could have told me that the day before) but then she isn't sure how to figure out how much I made in interest. So, while she searches for that information I miraculously find my estatements (super hidden on the website- actually takes you to want appears to be a completely different site for your statements? weird.) and look at the last one for the year, find the amount and we all move on. And, no one has ever called me back from my first phone call. I'm looking for a new credit union. The people are super nice at what was Pacific Marine. But something has gone terribly wrong since it became Frontwave. read more

Been a member of Pacific Marine/Frontwave for a long time. Everything is an ordeal at this place, it is a credit union that acts worse than a bank. It is obvious they make everything an inconvenience and wonder why they are failing and need to rebrand. But now, for the kicker: I knew an unauthorized charge for $300 from an unscrupulous company was going to come a month in advance. I went to my branch and told them and spoke to the fraud department on the phone. They cancelled my card and sent me a new one, inconvenient but needed to happen. Except this company used a service that I was never made aware of that is, I assume, automatically on our account where they can get updated if the card number changes. Boom, $300 charge. Called, was told "oh you need to file out paperwork to try to get the $300 back" and had my card changed again. Except this time they said they would next day it and sent it regular postage. So 7 days without my card, 2 card number changes and $300 still gone. I have disliked this place for some time, a lot of people do. Take my advice, don't want for them to go under (they are, hence the name change to try to shed the bad taste left by their previous name) and switch to USAA. They have been excellent as a back up credit union and should have been the primary for a long time now. Or, take your chances with a company that can't do anything right, don't treat you like a credit union should, and try to make easy fixes by changing name to hopefully stop bleeding customers. read more

It has gone progressively worse since then, as if changing the name will fix their problems. Although my family's main accounts are with Navy Federal, I kept my account, added my children as well just to have another alternative. We've been using them for about 2.5 years with only minor issues - our monthly automatic deposit into our account was often delayed by one day if a national holiday occurred. The date was very close to our due date for our car loan and they would try and dock us a late fee until I started complaining. Then the dept. mgr. promised to keep a look out monthly for us and be notified if it was delayed & he kept his word and our issue was resolved + fees were removed. This week had a different issue and spoke with 3 diff. personnel to no avail. When I was finally transferred to Carrina (Karina?), Team Leader, she took the bull by the horns, did some investigating and though my issue wasn't entirely resolved, she said she will be issuing us a $15 credit into our account since that's what we will have to pay to have the issue resolved elsewhere. I was impressed and started to feel better about Pacific Marine again... thank you Karina for your help and patience. read more

BY ANY MEANS PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CREDIT UNION! They can care less about the people they do business with! I had the misfortune of doing business with them and taking out a car loan with them. I was bed ridden due to Covid fighting for my life due to my health deteriorating fast and all while this happened due to an error on their behalf they weren't able to confirm my insurance for a month which btw was 100% paid for and covered. They imposed an Insurance of their own to cover the vehicle which was tripled the amount I currently pay insurance for and when the amount exceeded my current loan payment by twice the amount thus not being able to be processed by my bank account they charged me the original car payment that I usually make and pushed the rest of the amount for their imposed insurance as a missed loan payment. By the time my condition was stable enough for me to become aware of the situation they had already declared my loan to be on a delinquent status. Thus having my car impounded on a Sunday. Mind you they do not open on Sundays, meaning they knew I would not be able to get ahold of them until the next day having me charged for my car being in the impound lot over night. (P.s.) This was the worst experience I had with them not to mention the countless other times I've had to deal with similar situations due to their mishaps as a result of their carelessness and unprofessional ways of doing business. I used to love this CU and in particular this branch. I have been with Frontwave for 9 yrs. I've had multiple accts with them, checking, savings as well as joint accounts with them. I had each of my kids banking here so when they needed money I could easily transfer. I even opened an account for my elderly MIL. My problem is they did not do a sufficient job of protecting my money from fraud. On Aug. 15th 2022 I saw 2 transactions totaling $500 missing from my acct. I called but they no longer have anyone to access accounts after hours unless it is to freeze your debit card. I looked at my MIL account her account had been hit for $1096. Mom passed on 1/2/22. Beginning on Jan 23, 2022 small amounts were being withdrawn as ACH payments. Some were large sums others were for mere pennies. I went into the branch to report the fraud. Only to be told it is the policy of Frontwave to only go back 60 days on ACH payments that were unauthorized. That it was my responsibility to keep a closer eye on my accounts. Even though the same companies that were taking money from my account within the last 60 days were the same ones that had being doing so from January. I was told they would not reimburse me those funds. prior to the 60 days because my name was in the byline. My normal monthly payments were all declined so I have multiple bounced payment fees. Which i am submitting for reimbursement. This credit union no longer wants your business just your money. A joint acct that I had with my son was closed funds withdrawn without notice. When I questioned why this happened, they said there had not been any transactions on the acct for 1 year. Christina the branch manager has limited knowledge and no follow up. She was as friendly as could be possible while doing as little as possible to help. Quiet quitting??? The current ad campaign on her desk said 100% no excuses. Her actions stated otherwise. What should have taken 10 days to clear up has actually taken from 8/16 to 9/21 to get mostly taken care of. They showed zero empathy at the fact that I was taking care of mom's estate in probate where I get to tell a judge that a portion of the estate funds were stolen and irretrievable. Even though Frontwave is FDIC insured? No letter from the bank no statement that this was confirmed fraud and that I had nothing to do with it. NOTHING. I just printed bank statements to submit to the court. This is not the same bank I started with. The fraud department is no longer in New York, it's in India and they can only freeze your debit card. NO call from the fraud department for a suspicious transactions. Nothing! They are no longer a shared branch partner, customer service is outsourced, they have quite a few new policies in place, as well as an alarmingly high turnover rate. No one save the receptionist Susana knows your name anymore. I didn't have large sums of money here, however the way I look at it, it's how you handle the small things that will show how you handle the large things, I shouldn't have to spend a week closing things out, changing out payment methods or go through this type of stress when I did nothing wrong and they just refused to help. No one had moms account number except myself and my husband. When I asked if they were going alert other members of this type of fraud happening they said no. For banking. Awesome! The corporate branch is so friendly. HOWEVER...I used to get excellent service when I called in for account assistance via the 800 number. In the last two weeks I have called 3 different times and had the worst service. Wait time quoted around 2 minutes. Finally connected after 8. Then each time the person on the line moved at a snails pace often asking me the same verification question more than once. A 3 different people too! My only guess is they must have been in training, but this was absolutely awful. Each call took over 5 minutes and 4 of that was verifying I was who I said I was! PLEASE PMCU!!! They don't know the difference between Pay Pal and Money Gram. Came in to use their shared branching to get a cashiers check. They had one teller on the line who was helping somebody with a very long transaction. Members in line were complaining about this. I, being a former teller, just tried to keep myself occupied on my phone and ensure my transaction was in order so I wouldn't hold up the line when it was my turn. I understand banks and CU's are often short handed. They didn't really offer any kind of service it was all very cut and dry. Won't do business with their loan dept. again. Started a loan application online but did not complete or submit the application and yet they still ran my credit report. They refuse to provide me a letter requesting they remove the unauthorized credit check . I should also add from what I heard from their customer service I'm not the first this has happened to. 4/16 PMCU trying to save face. Think of it this way, I NEVER SUBMITTED my loan application online. I was only in the process of filling it out, learned their products wouldn't work for me and stopped filling out the application. I NEVER HIT SUBMIT. The equivalent in real life would be for me to put the incomplete application in the trash when filling it out at the bank and an employee pulling it out and running my credit report anyway. I have reached out to PMCU and they REFUSE TO WORK WITH ME. NEVER, EVER AGAIN!!!!! By the way, they told me they'd "call me back" after I complained and a week later I had to call them back for them to tell me they'd do nothing. I recently got an auto loan and the purchase was very quick to make sure that we were able to buy the car we wanted. I was able to get an approval the next day and get the loan process closed and the check shipped and received within the 3 days required by the dealership. This was my first new car purchase and auto loan and Paola Alegria. I know it wouldn't have been possible without the amazing level of customer service I received. If you can open an account or transfer to Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) please do so. I am not forcing anybody but I highly encourage it. I was a member of Frontwave Credit Union (FWCU) former Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) since boot camp 2010 up to present time. I always try to see if they will improve especially with the brand change. But they always fell short on a lot of things especially compared to NFCU. Security: NFCU will catch fraud or any type of hack or scam in your account and will freeze it just like FWCU the difference is the ease of getting reimburse and unfreezing your account, NFCU have 24 hours customer service hotline while FWCU have 7am - 6pm. Account recovery: It is getting better but it still painful to recover your account in FWCU if you forget your password or username/member ID. Fees: This was the last straw that made me close my account from FWCU, I was told by a representative back in 2017 in Camp Pendleton that there was no fees whatsoever even if I don't touch my money in any or my account with them, I just recently found out that there is an inactive fee and its been taking money away from the accounts I have with them, on of them closed out before of this fee, and they will not reimburse me for this even thought it was one of their representative that told me that there will be no fees. THIS IS JUST A FRIENDLY ADVICE TO ANYBODY THAT IS THINKING ABOUT OPENING AN ACCOUNT TO THIS CREDIT UNION. Worked with these wonderful, dedicated banking associates to apply for a SBA PPP loan. Not the easiest waters to navigate on my own, I was assigned a contact person, Christina, who has been nothing less than amazing, professional, punctual and kind to work with. In constant contact with me, helping me with docs for my application and keeping me posted on the loan status the whole way through. Even post loan follow through communication. I have never had much on an opinion of credit unions or banks as they are so regulated, everyone just follows rules. In these critical times of uncertainty and a chance to help people without any requirement or mandate to do so, they CHOSE to raise their bar to the highest rung. This review is a couple weeks overdue,but none the less here it is...Long story short I have been with Frontwave for close to 5 years now.I remember when they where Pacific Marine Credit Union.In the last 2 years they closed down the branch in Mira Mar.Which was the closest to me living further South in Sd.And since I've been banking with other Credit unions.I still have my Frontwave Credit Card which I use every now and then but I am getting better rates on my other Credit union cards.So if I use my Frontwave Card I just pay it in full to avoid the high interest this card has.So last time I was in. Gueeni (sorry if I misspelled)was my teller.She was cool very pleasant down to earth!I told her about my concern about my Credit Card rates,she introduced me to another banker Autumn.So while speaking with Autumn I asked if my rate could be reduced.Basically I have a platinum Card limit with a classic Credit card rate.And Autumn who was very helpful said she'll look into it and see what she could do.I was thinking to myself this is cool.And I jokingly said the the ladies"My "faith" is re-newed in Frontwave ".Thinking they would give me a rate that matches with my limit.And when I left that was what it was.THHHHHEEEENNNNN....later in the day Autumn informed me that the would have to run my credit to get the rate that should go with that card.Its basically the same rates at all unions so I was a bit T'd off about that.Always pay my Card on time and in full.Been had this higher limit why can't they just make it right instead of checking my credit.?guess that was a call made over everyone I spoke with that morning.Sad thing.But the ladies was nice and professional.But I'll CONTINUE to limit my banking with Frontwave. read more

Even more SHOCKING is advising to commit fraud logging into the joint accounts using the other member's credentials! My paycheck and loan payments get posted but I am not allowed to view eStatements of our joint accounts? Never heard, Is this some kind of a Federal credit union regulation ? Been with this bank when it was PMCU-I really do like it- BUT today I tried to log on and kept getting a message that "this site has been reported as unsafe...it has been reported as containing phishing threats ...which can steal personal or financial information" SO I called the 800 number to TRY to get a solution or at least know WHY this was happening, since I log into this site at least 3-4 times a month with no issue AND it is listed as their official site to use for online banking. WHAT A JOKE-for TWENTY minutes I was told by the Customer Solution Center person and their supervisor-"sorry call back tomorrow, we cant help you"--ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! I asked to speak to IT in hopes of getting an answer, or solution, but again was repeatedly told,There is NO ONE in ANY IT Department today ARE YOU SERIOUS!! There is a reason why most service members prefer Navy Fed or USAA. I've been with Pacific Marine since 2011 and have always had such a headache while dealing with them. I only stayed with them because I had my military pay set up through them but since I have gotten out, I am weeding all of my accounts off of them. I applied for an auto loan on the Navy Fed website and got an instant approval. Frontwave gave me a screen that said someone will contact me within a day. It took me four calls to finally get an answer but even then, their requirements are ridiculous. I wish MCRD San Diego would strictly promote Navy Fed. Frontwave... You are garbage! read more

The worst bank I have ever had. They are predatory and charge fees for everything. Not a good choice for anybody who lives paycheck to paycheck. If you make a mistake and overdraw your account they will hammer you with fees. The last thing you need at that point! I'm talking $30.00 per transaction! Which for me was over $200. So I see that a lot of people here have the lovely little "overdraft" magic that this bank loves to do. Here's my story... I was at the Marine Corps ball in Vegas, I knew I had $800 in my account (PFC 2005). So I'm with my date and we're spending and enjoying ourselves. I check online to see what my AVAILABLE BALANCE is and I'm still in the green so I think that everything's ok... Man I was wrong. So the card let me keep spending and the site kept telling me that I'm in the green and all the while I'm thinking everything is cool. Then my next check hits, or at least $130 of it. $20 overdraft for every purchase made. So the $3.50 Slurpee was $23.50, the $30 dinner was $50 and so on. Sounds like I was scammed, why in gods name didn't they stop the card when there were no more funds left? Why didn't the site update properly and IN REAL TIME and let me know what my available funds were? That would have changed the way I spent and I would have budgeted for it accordingly. But no... They took almost my entire check and to add insult to injury when I worked it out, the overdraft fees were more than what I spent. When I tried to talk to the "credit specialist" they ended up canceling my card and didn't wave any fees. It was like a final slap in the face. Before the problem I never had an issue with PMCU, if anything I was happy with them, but after what they did to me I switched to Navy Fed. I never had a problem with them and only closed my account with them when I moved out of state. read more

This credit union and its upper management team are dishonest, unprofessional, rude, and will not stay true to their word. This started off when I received a Pre-Approval offer by one of their employees of the branch, upon calling and getting details I was told to proceed in buying the vehicle, I put a hefty down payment and scheduled to pick up the car. When going into the branch to pick up the check to go finalize the purchase I was told that "There seems to be a problem, we can't find your pre approval." This was at 9 am, I was told I would be contacted because I might have to sit and wait for an hour; I obliged and went home. Waiting and waiting, no call back; so I try to call, no answer. I decide to drive down to the credit union, there I sit and wait because after 4 hours no one decided it was important enough or were too busy to help me, even with multiple people behind the counter. As I wait I hear an employee use profanity on multiple accounts when describing her past weekend. When I am finally helped I'm told, "we can't find it in the system." They look some more and then tell me that that pre approval was from last year and they can't honor the email, the 2 phone calls, and text messages telling me about this offer! The VP of the credit union Debbie was there and spoke with the extremely nonchalant branch Manager if you may call her that Claudia and the VP which was extremely nice offered that since they acknowledge it was their mistake they would honor the pre approval and terms offered to me, I just had to bring my proof of income in. I got my proof of income and came back, when given the proof of income I was told they would call me that night, no call back. I call back the next day and Claudia is off, this morning after 3 days I call, and am told they can not offer this to me and stay true to their word even when I provided them everything they needed. This "Credit Union" that says they strive for customer satisfaction really does the opposite. I had referred many people to them before but I can no longer refer someone to a "business" that is so unprofessional and that lies to their customers. I never once asked for anything more than what was offered to me. And have yet to even get an apology. If Honor and Integrity are important to you, do NOT visit Pacific Marine Credit Union. read more
