We dined here last night and things were just so-so. Just seemed like there was no attention to detail and it wasn't busy at all. They charged us for a bone-in ribeye but brought out the less expensive version. That was offputting and cost us $10+ extra. . The rolls were hard and cold. One of the wines we ordered, specifically because it was listed on the menu as a California wine, turned out to be French. You want to go to a restaurant and enjoy a meal, not complain about every single thing, and this experience left us in the latter category, sadly. Lastly, a couple of guys seated next to us were loud, drunk and gross and management ignored them. They cursed and belched loudly throughout their meal as the employees turned a blind eye. Just made the meal that much worse... I would not recommend this place.

Absolutely delicious and massive. Got the cowboy porterhouse cooked medium and it was a perfect medium rare. Went to burns recently and I swear this steak is so much more flavorful, smokey, more tender and the wet age leaves such a nice taste. Highly recommend this place.

I haven't been back to Frontier Steakhouse in quite sometime. I came here on a Friday night at about 6:30, was seated immediately, and offered a menu and a beverage. My order consisted of: An 8oz filet, medium A water A salad with oil and vinegar A loaded baked potato. A glass of Malbec. My server was super attentive -- she brought out my salad and roll right away. The roll was not fresh, but the salad was very fresh. About 3 minutes later my steak came out with my potato. The steak was COLD and the fat had started to congeal. When my server brought me my glass of wine, I told her about my terrible steak, and she apologized and sent it back. The flavors were there, but how can you serve a COLD STEAK and charge $31.00? At my server's suggestion, I kept my potato and it was nice and hot, and I ate that and drank my wine while waiting for my steak. The second steak was excellent -- Juicy, flavorful, correct temp, and hot! They nailed it! Summary: Excellent service Very good sides and steak (see caveat) Fair prices for the quality This is a local steak place that prides itself on good food. Glad to see they are still kicking during COVID. 3 stars because of the first steak they served. Other than that and the stale roll, they are very good.

I have been wanting to visit this steakhouse for a long time and one of my friends chose this place as the spot for her birthday gathering. We got there early (between 4-5pm) and there wasn't a soul around. We were the only people there so we were seated easily. The waitress didn't seem in the best of moods and the drink menu didn't cover most of the options they had available (there's a full bar but no menu for liquor selections). Wine prices are great which is a reason I'd come back for sure! Food prices are also very reasonable, but the steaks were really mediocre at best. I ordered medium rare and it was more medium well. You get a baked potato and salad with your steak so it's a good deal overall. Prices are low so if you're looking for an affordable night out, this is a good option. Family friendly for sure! Just not a place you'd want to take your first date to make a good impression.

Love Frontier! We decided to have my husbands 50th birthday dinner there (it is one of his favorites) with 25 or so of our closest friends. The staff was fantastic! Food was quick and delicious. Everyobe really knocked it our of the park. One the plus plus side some of our friends had never been and said as they were leaving the party that they would definitely be back. The wait staff kept drinks full & flowing and were so friendly. The food was delivered to the table in a very timey manner for such a latge gang of us. His 50th was a delightful time and full of great memories thanks to this neighborhood gem!

We came by to celebrate a birthday. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated we could tell they were understaffed. We waited a bit to order drinks and cheese dip appetizer ($7.95) When the cheese dip came it was about half basket of chips and had to pay $2.50 for a refill of which we did not. We ordered Rancha Ka Bob ($18.95), Shrimp Dinner of 8 shrimp up charge 2$ for shrimp scampi and $1.75 for Caesar salad ($19.70), 8 oz. Sirloin with up charge of $2.60 for loaded bake potato ($20.95), Ribeye with up charge $1 for sweet potato ($32.95), Salmon with bake potato butter sour cream ($19.95). We waited about 25 minutes for our dinners. It was very loud and our drinks were not refilled. The steaks were good but the shrimp and salmon were very salty. We also had two pieces of key lime pie (5$ each) which for the price were very small. Unfortunately we had been here years ago and were very let down by our experience this time. The wait for dinner a bit long, staff not very friendly, up charges and noise level we will not be back. It is unfortunate because the steaks are good.

    Damn delicious

We've celebrated multiple birthdays there with groups of 20-25 women, and they always make the experience feel effortless. While many Tampa restaurants require deposits, minimum spends, or limited menus for large parties, Oak & Ola simply welcomes us with open arms and genuinely seems happy to have us there. The service is consistently impeccable, the food is both beautiful and absolutely delicious, and the restaurant itself offers a gorgeous atmosphere with stunning waterfront views. It's clear that every detail matters to them. They reserve a special table for gifts, have even printed custom "Happy Birthday" menus for us, and on our most recent visit, Chef Margaret came out personally to wish the birthday girl a happy birthday. Our servers were phenomenal. They anticipated every need, kept everything running smoothly for such a large group, and never missed a beat. Coordinating a party our size is no small task, yet they made it look easy while making every single person feel cared for. If you're looking for a restaurant with exceptional food, outstanding service, and a team that truly knows how to make guests feel special, Oak & Ola is one of the very best in Tampa. Plenty of parking along the roadways, and in the nearby parking lots for the neighboring Water Works (city park) and Armature Works (food hall and social venue). They had valet for years but I'm not sure they still offer the service. The venue is huge... large red, brick building with outdoor sitting and a bar but they also have outdoor art to be impressed, a pond with fish for kids to admire, overlooking the Hillsborough River and lovely gardens (and all of it is maintained impeccable). The interior is industrial and a bit masculine but the views outside and more exhibits of art balance the atmosphere. Love the exposed kitchen and the glass wine enclosure under the stairs. The menu, as it was explained to me, was inspired by the indians that inhabited this area originally. I've been here numerous times but even with this latest visit, all my visits have been limited to lunch. Some of the dishes I have truly enjoyed: NATIVE CHILI: Not the typical ingredients but excellent nonetheless... rather than just beef and bean (as I am used to normally), this chili had alligator, boar, venison, duck, ground chuck and cranberry beans. CLASSIC BURGER: Ulele offers so many delicious dishes but sometimes a simple player is the way to go and the burger here does not disappoint... great balance of meat to cheddar cheese and those pickles are on-point. WATER WORKS MEATLOAF: I grew up loving meatloaf even though no one in my family made a good one (always ordered in restaurants); trying this one sets the bar to a new level... I'd enjoy that cabernet garlic demi-glaze all day everyday. PULCO CARPACCIO: Thin slices of octopus with a sauce that is rememberable (except for the name). Not sure if on the menu or if it was a special. As a fair warning, it does come off a bit touristy but the food is along with the atmosphere/decor is excellent...

I suggest you do not sleep on the escargot. It was perfect and the gazpacho style soup was wayyyy better than their,in my opinion, burnt French onion soup. (We came at the end of the night, so chalk that up to being literally one of the last guests). Wine list was INSANE and the cellar tour was one of the highlights of my year it was amazing to see so many old and relived bottles and some of the rarest in the world. This experience alone is why I give it 5 stars. I don't think my waygu filet was waygu- no marbling and it was not buttery at all we actually boxed it up immediately because it was not cooked med rare, but we were sharing a plate so, whatever. Kitchens seem to hate when people share but I have a special need and cannot eat large portions like that so, it was not us being cheap. We wanted to go to the dessert room, and so I wanted to save my last few bites for that. Food was basic in my opinion- but it was a grand experience and the server and very attentive and kind It was strange but they add 13% (didn't seem enough in my experience) to the bill, we added more, but didn't understand the feez?? I want to always leave a good tip but I didn't know if it was a "service fee" or if it was for the server it was not fully explained. (Hope he got the full tip.) Upstairs was the dessert room, the nostalgia of this was heavenly. A phone on the wall you can call the pianist and request a song. It was amazing. The flourless chocolate sundae---- OMG so good. The tiny but tasty brandy Alexander for the price it should have been much creamier and more than 2oz of whatever it was it didn't have all of the ingredients in it as described, but hey I still give this place 5 stars because it is kinda like a brothel meets the haunted mansion meets/ your grandmas house. So it was definitely unique and worth the over 400$ bill I just wish they would explain what their "service fee is" and when you order waygu- don't send out a regular filet to a person, who is a chef. It's insulting and really not what a company should do. Again, we were the last guests of the night we booked late on purpose, and start to finish this place was fascinating. The truffled tar tar was also very good. We had apps, wine, drinks dessert, steaks, salads, soups our waitstaff made up for the kitchens error on the cut of meat and we still at it next day. Fascinating is the word I think of for this Tampa favorite. I will go back but skip the meal and have appetizers, wine, and dessert. Hope they don't mind that.

Bern's Steakhouse has 5 Star Food but overall dining experience was extremely disappointing due to…read morevery poor total combined service (dinner & dessert room) that only rated 1-star. No matter how good the food is--if you are paying $150-$200+ per person for dinner, drinks, dessert-- you should expect at least 4.5 stars experience in both food AND service. This was my wife and I's 1st experience at Bern's after living here in the Tampa area for the last 2 years after moving here from Atlanta. One of our other high-end dining experiences here was at Ocean Prime where again you pay $150 to $200+ per person but the difference is at Ocean Prime both the Food & Service were high-end & both between 4.5 to 5 stars. For our dinner tonight at Bern's we started off by each having a glass of the Mollydooker 2023, 'the Maitre D', Cabernet, Mclaren Vale, Australia. My wife ordered the 8oz Filet and I ordered the 16oz Strip. We also ordered the mushrooms as a side & each of us had the standard french onion soup, and we both had the house salad with the Macadamia Vanilla Bean Vinaigrette. The wine came out fine and the timing on the soup and salad were fine, but after finishing our salads there was about a 45 to 50 min gap waiting for our dinner which is unacceptable. There was no recognition of the extended delay by the server or floor mgr in the meantime - nor was one offered when the dinner eventually came. Before we came here tonight we watched videos online about the history of Bern's & the fact that Bern's takes the service aspect of the experience so seriously that people have to train for a year before being allowed to work as servers. That means they supposedly take process of customer satisfaction and service quality very seriously. Part of the process & training should be for the staff and managers to automatically recognize when there is an unacceptable delay in getting food out in a timely orderly fashion-especially the main course. Mistakes and delays happen-- that is just part an unavoidable part of the restaurant business--however-- when there are delays or mistakes made the difference between a 5-star restaurant that charges an average of $150 to $200 per person & a 2 to 3 star restaurant is how they recognize, react to, and handle mistakes or delays-- and how they demonstrate to the customer that they recognize that there is a delay or problem and that they care & what will be done to rectify it. Ok so--now on to the dessert room--this is where the service completely fell apart. We were seated with a few minutes upon arriving at the dessert room which is good. Our server came shortly thereafter to take our drink order. We each ordered a coffee drink. My wife ordered a decaf iced Cafe Con Leche and I ordered a regular hot (caffeinated) 'Cafe Con Leche - the server spend another minute or 2 re-confirming the correct coffee drink order with us by repeating it back just to make sure she had everything correct--which is good. she then left to put that order in and said she would come back to take our dessert order once we had made up our mind what we wanted to have. So about 5 to 6 minutes later she came back--no coffee drinks yet but she took our dessert order & we ordered the Salted Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding brioche, chocolate crème anglaise, and based on her recommendation, we substituted the black walnut ice cream for the Graham cracker ice cream-- so that also was good. The dessert arrived about 10 to 15 minutes later--still no coffee drinks. We waited about 5 minutes before starting to eat dessert as we thought (even though she did not say anything about our drinks) we thought she was going back to now bring us our coffee drinks right away to have with our dessert as now it had been almost 25-30 min since ordering our coffee drinks--still nothing. We started to eat our dessert now just thinking we are not going to get our coffee as the ice cream was melting & we wanted to at least enjoy our dessert with the ice cream. About 10 minutes later we had finish about 3/4ths of our dessert & she came back to check to see how we liked the dessert & I told her it was great but asked her what happened to our coffee drinks? She had a puzzled expression on her face like "You ordered coffee drinks?" then opened up the ticket to see that we did. No apology--no offer to do anything about the mistake. The coffee drinks finally came about 6 or 7 minutes later --at that time dessert was through--so that kind of ended the evening on a very sour note. When she brought the bill--there was no apology about the coffee drinks & there was no offer to do anything on the bill. The dessert and coffee drinks were both great-- but the service was poor & there was no recognition or apology nor any offer to rectify it. In the end--food: 5-stars, overall service experience of the entire evening 1-star- overall experience rating of food+service combined 3-stars--overall experience disappointing considering reputation and price

We were seated at a super small table so it made for an uncomfortable situation with so little real estate available. Also the place looks like it's converted from a garage or something with metal walls and roll up doors that made the sound bounce around. The service was nice. We were well taken care of but they seemed to be spread thin because getting refills and getting our check took a bit longer than expected. One ssue was that the menu was very different from what was online via Google. I should have gone to their website I guess, but several items were not available and the filet I was so excited for had a very different set of items. No Brie au gratin potatoes or braised rainbow chard, citrus gremolata and a fig chutney. Now, let me say that my filet was delicious. I loved the sauce and the asparagus was good but for me, the potatoes were super underwhelming. A nice sauce or something would have made them better. They just tasted bland, were really dry and lacked any flavor. My wife expected the lamb or pork chops, they were both not on the menu. She got fish and chips which she really enjoyed, so it was a win. The Asian wings were our appetizer and were delightful too. Now the only real negative for us was the noise. We got there at 5:30 and it was fine. But as more people came in, the sound bounced around so bad that it became almost unbearable for me. I wanted to go so bad because people laughing and talking made my head hurt. Would I go back? Probably not. I didn't enjoy how loud it was. The food was very good though, so perhaps takeout would be more my speed. We had a nice meal and my leftovers were delicious later that evening.

The atmosphere was super festive and we were looking forward to our evening. The bartender was friendly and took our drink order. Service was a little slow with checks and I never got the food I ordered but honestly, the vibes were so cute and cozy I didn't even stay mad. Great spot for a festive night out with friends or a cute holiday date night.
